^ you may want to trade in those bacon cheeseburgers for lean, grilled chxn. Much healthier.

I think he's trying to gain weight. Chicken probably wouldn't give him the calories he wants without filling him up too much.

^^ Just saying that there are fats that are healthier for your heart. You can damage your heart even if you're skinny.

sorry boys, i was hungry.

getting to 4000 calories on nothing but chicken and rice gets old after awhile. i'm throwing the poor bird into the crockpot before class today. Is blood pressure a good measure of the damage I have done? What did you other hard gainers eat to gain weight (echo?)?

1500.....no wonder you advocate clean eating. I have not been truly hungry in 6 months. I lose weight under 3000.

Do you really need 1,500 for as active as you are? I eat more than that and I'm definitely not a marathon runner.

I wonder how much I actually need a day.

I venture to say I eat somewhere between 2000-2500 a day.

I'm cutting calories right now because I'm a little heavier than I want to be. My body fat is about 14% based on my last two measurements and I'd prefer for it to be right at 12% for my next big race.

After a marathon or a long training run, however, I eat whatever I want. It's pretty hard to accidentally eat more than 2,000 extra calories.

Probably the best advice. Your legs will just adapt if you put them under the same duress. Longer duration for improvement, sir.

The jury is still out on the matter if saturated fat is the culprit behind heart disease. Some of the latest research is beginning to point to sedentary lifestyle + processed carbs + obesity as the main culprits.

We evolved as humans on a diet extremely high in saturated fat, and it hasn't been until the introduction of refined/processed foods that heart disease is such a problem.

Also, look at the Inuit tribes. They eat almost nothing but meat and have better health rates.

##

To the dude who wants to keep his heart rate high...

Google the tabata method. You can use a variety of movements with this method, not just your legs.

Do a set of 10 one-arm dumbbell snatches, each arm. Start with maybe 1/8 your body weight and see how your heart feels.

WHAT THE FUCK

everyone who has claimed to want to go to the gym consistently (been trying to find a CONSISTENT partner) is a pussy and bails all the time.

6/7 days of the week isn't difficult.

Spring Break a Sweat alone tonight I guess

Shameless self-promotion ... I just started a blog to help myself find motivation as I train to qualify for the Boston Marathon (in 2011). Does anyone else have a fitness blog? If so, I'd love to follow you.

oh nice lucy! i'll follw you on my Google Reader. i like hearing other people's stories of motivation.

i've actually debated recently about creating a work out blog. mostly because i've found my love of running again and have been working out more hardcore than before.

yesterday: ran lake johnson.....it was a bit icy in some spots but it was nice out.
today: treadmill for 30 minutes; 100 lunges, 40 squats, and abs

Cass, you should definitely do a blog. I love reading fitness/running blogs bc that's where I get some of my best ideas for training, motivation, new products, discounts, races and other awesome fitness-related topics.

That's why I love this thread, but with blogs you can share more information.

I <3 racquetball

Swam 750m at the pool. Would've loved to go longer but it was my first time in the pool in a few months so I'm taking it easy.

Need to run long tomorrow to keep on my 1,000 mile pace for the year. Almost at my first 100.
