Last night was the chance to remain relevant we had 20 turnovers.

Only thing remotely good was Allen/Hayes hitting 3s and the team actually going 20-24 from FT.

This team is Sidney Lowe bad. Beverly 34 minutes, Shak 12 LMAO. Funderburk was scoring well and played 23.

^^ Correction. This team shouldn't be Sidney Lowe level bad according to the talent on the roster. Unfortunately, the results we are getting would say otherwise. And ultimately, I think that is what pisses me off the most about this season. We have the talent and athleticism to compete with anyone in the ACC. The system is trash, though.

DJ getting 23 minutes and Shak getting 12 is flat out inexcusable.

That they are our two best players at this point is not a hard case to make.

Aside from our trash non-existent offensive sets, the substitution patterns don't make ANY fuckin sense. For a while I tried to justify it in my mind by telling myself that Shak is just more careless with the ball than BB and that's why he doesn't get the minutes. Keatts does seem to prioritize taking care of the ball but the emphasis he puts on it to the exclusion of things like playmaking and defensive ability is absurd.

I sure am glad we are gonna run BB and Allen into 10th place in the ACC this season so that Shak and Hayes can't learn to take care of the ball better in more minutes .

Someone is forgetting just how bad the sidney lowe teams were...

The biggest problem with this team is guard play. The freshmen are doing what freshmen do - struggling to initiate offense in the acc. Beverly has never been able to do this as a primary pg. Guard struggles lead to funderburk not getting enough post ups.

Oh also our best guards knee bent sideways.

Sid Lowe's teams finished 10, 11, 10, 9, 10 (league was I think 12 teams back then)

Keatts is a better coach than Lowe on the whole, but this season has been a disaster and there is no reason to think this year's coaching job is any better than any of Lowe's.

We are currently 12 in the ACC (league is 15). So while this may be a better collection of talent, that talent isn't resulting in more wins.

Do any of you guys really think DD makes an appreciable difference with the ceiling of this team? We lost to Miami (without their two best players) at home WITH DD. In fact, most of our shit results this season were WITH DD. I guess he makes this team marginally better, but what the fuck are we even talking about here?

The fact that a Keatts team is bad enough to even be in the conversation with a Lowe team is a nightmare. Keatts gets a pass this year because Covid, but I'm not optimistic about next year's team either unless he pulls a grad transfer out of a hat. Maybe some addition by subtraction if BB moves on, but we have already seen what Hellems and Bates are gonna do offensively.

But I guess when the team is barely worth watching on a night to night basis, the only thing you can really discuss is whether the shit we are watching is Lowe level bad or maybe a tick better.

We aren’t good this year. This year also comes with a gigantic asterisk (because of covid) imo.

I don’t know...There’s nothing to really argue imo. We suck. I just don’t really view this season as an indictment on KK and the future no the program.

Our Women's team has beaten two #1 teams and is in position to make a Final Four run. They've missed three games (ironically another one Monday) and were out two weeks.

While our best player (Cunane) missed two games, another missed four (Boyd), another missed two (Crutchfield).

I feel like there has to be SOME issue with dj, my assumption has been stamina it something. I can get in some ways Beverly being an over reliance on known assets combined with the lack of practice time for the new guards, but the only logical reason for not playing dj is effort/fatigue.

Idk man. I remember losing to Wisconsin by 40 points. Saturday was not worse than that. I’m not getting into ranking losses but I also remember a game where we had 30+ turnovers vs Cincy.

Saturday was pathetic in every way. But it wasn’t a 40 point loss.

This team’s really bad. It can be really bad without us forgetting just how bad the Lowe era was.

^^I'm not sure there is much evidence that we were all that much better with DD. We lost to a Miami team at home without their two best players. We had lost 4 in a row directly prior to him going out.

If a Devon Daniels ISO was your best offensive option, that says all you need to know about how actively bad we were even with him.

^Agreed that the bad losses were way worse under Lowe IMO. We have at least been in most of the games we have lost this season. That said, an L is an L and this team will end up in the same standings as any Lowe team by the time it's all said and done (and that was in a more competitive ACC).
