I'll wager we have a better record this year than last. Call me crazy. You act like our roster sucks outside of TJ.

I think this year's team will be better than last year's team...but it won't be because of the loss of Warren. If Warren had stayed, we'd be fucking stacked and a top 10 team. We'd have a loaded front court, a lightening bug point guard with another year of experience, and the top scorer in college basketball. If Turner or Lacey could consistently hit an open three, we'd challenge for a natty.

You take Warren off that team and I think we're a solid NCAA tournament team (last year we were outside of the bubble and luckily got in).

I'm normally a cautiously pessimistic fan...but I feel really good about this year's squad. But if we lose Barber...we're fucked.

^^^I wouldn't be surprised if you're right. I really like our roster this year and think we'll have a good season. But to say that losing Warren is a positive (other than maybe for recruiting purposes) is silly. This year's team won't be better because there's no Warren. It'll be better because we'll be much more experienced and (hopefully) Lacey can come in and shoulder some of the scoring load.

http://www.newsobserver.com/2014/09/24/4177846_traffic-violations-lead-to-arrest.html?rh=1
Quote :
"N.C. State junior basketball player Trevor Lacey was arrested near campus this past Friday for a failure to appear in court.

Lacey missed his Wake County court date for a traffic violation in April. He received a second traffic violation on Friday for riding a moped without a helmet. When Lacey was stopped by N.C. State University police on Friday at 12:39 a.m. on Western Boulevard in Raleigh, he was arrested for missing his original court date.

Lacey, a transfer from Alabama, sat out last season and is expected to be the primary scorer for the Wolfpack this season.

"We are aware of the situation involving Trevor, and are awaiting the final dispositions of both the legal and university processes," said Fred Demarest, the associate athletic director for communications, in a statement released by the school.

Lacey's legal trouble started with a speeding ticket on Feb. 23, going 59 miles per hour in a 45 mph zone on Pullen Road on campus. He had a court date of April 4 for the traffic violation, which he subsequently missed.

Lacey's scheduled to appear in Wake County court on Monday for the original ticket. He also has a date on Nov. 13 for the riding-without-a-helmet ticket.

The 6-3 guard from Hunstville, Ala., averaged 9.3 points in two seasons with the Crimson Tide.

Carolina has players getting arrested in luxury SUV's and 'swapping cars' with NFL players. Our guys get caught not wearing a helmet on mopeds. Gott has got to step up his bag-man guy game.

^lol, don't think he was speeding...he just wasn't wearing a helmet...which I assume is like not wearing a seatbelt in your car.

Also, he missed his court date in April and they're just now nabbing him on that? What, did he think it was just going to go away? lol

Speeding ticket has nothing to do with a moped.

He got a ticket for riding a moped without a helmet. He was arrested at this time for missing the court date for the speeding ticket.

If he was going 59 on a moped he would have gotten more than just a speeding ticket, because if it goes that fast, it's no longer considered a moped IIRC

On the list of "dumb shit college athletes do" this is pretty far down at the bottom. I mean it was dumb...but it's a couple traffic tickets. No big deal

It's a big deal precisely because it's so mundane. How can he (and the coaching staff) be so stupid to let him miss a court date for a triviality?

^^^No, it's still not a big deal. It's really fucking stupid that it came to this. But it's still not that big of deal. I'd be shocked if he missed any game time for this. Because it's not a big deal.

according to PP, supposedly he hired and paid a lawyer... and the lawyer didn't show up for the court date. sit him for the first game and be done with it, no big deal.

Don't even sit him if he hired a lawyer. The dude reasonably expected it to be taken care of, it's not his fault that the lawyer didn't take care of it.

Well, there's also that he was speeding around campus at 59 mph on a moped with no helmet. Not a terrible offense, but not too smart.

(also, says he was doing 59 in a 45 through campus on Pullen Rd.... I thought Pullen was a 25 or 35?)

^Jesus Christ man, do you read anything?

He got a speeding ticket for 59 mph in a car...not the fucking moped. He failed to appear for court for the speeding ticket. Then he got pulled over for not having a helmet while riding a moped and they arrested him for his failure to appear.

There aren't too many mopeds that go 59 mph.

i scanned it a couple days ago, seems i didn't remember correctly, my bad. Still, doing 59 through campus in a car is stupid (haha, i thought about a moped doing 59 after i made that comment). And driving a moped on Western with no helmet at 1am is stupid. Not a big offense, but not too smart. Who's this Jesus Christ you speak of?

Sure, maybe 59 in a 45 is "stupid", but I would be the vast majority of people who have driven down Pullen in the 45 mph section have brushed 60 at least once (if not every time). I don't see this as a big deal. If he hired an attorney, then I definitely don't see it as indicative of his character or discipline which would warrant punishment or benching him for a game.

I agree that it's not a big deal, but sitting him for the first game might appease the old-schoolers and opposing fans who think he should be disciplined, since it's in the N&O and everything. Hopefully we wouldn't miss him against Queens University of Charlotte (I've never heard of them before) or Jackson State. But whatever, it wouldn't bother me if he's not benched... or if he is benched for a game.

[Edited on September 25, 2014 at 12:26 PM. Reason : (also, i haven't driven it in quite a while, but i don't recall a 45 section of Pull)en]

ESPN 3 for Throwback With the Pack on October 17th with Gold/Ovies hosting (at least its not Mark Thomas).

Also Chris Washburn will be in attendance. Last I saw he was up over 300 lbs, need to get him and Anya in some sort of eating contest at half time.

Provided the team can fill the scoring void left by Warren & play good defense we could do pretty well this season. We play Duke once at home, Louisville once on the road, and Syracuse once at home. We also play Pitt, the team that many are projecting to be fighting us in the standings, once which is a home game. I'm looking forward to this season and to supporting the team again when they come to Miami. I just hope they don't do their best to give me a heart attack like they did last year when they came down here.

Yeah I'm excited about this season. Much like last year and Gott's first year, there are plenty of questions and unproven guys. Obviously not having Warren hurts...scoring will be much more balanced. But I think this team has potential to be a top 25 team.
