Also, lulz at Brienne finding both Arya and Sansa...gtfo.

This series (book) is going to end up like Lost. 40% of the story lines just go away quietly. There's no way he can wrap up everything in 2 books, unless he just kills off a bunch of characters.

so i guess this is the episode where this thread died.
4/28/2015 9:23:07 AM
haha, yeah, the storylines are all starting to meld together. I don't mind it, I'll just think of it as an alternative outcome, like a "choose your own adventure" book
4/28/2015 9:29:41 AM
i thought of this thread as i watched it. the only time it'll be a pain is when i go to read the next book (in 15 years when it is finally released).
4/28/2015 9:38:28 AM
I actually kind of like Sansa replacing Jeyne Poole, it makes a lot of sense for the show. In the books most people didn't know that it was an imposter Arya, so just going ahead and making it an actual Stark works in my mind, plus it helps get Theon a little more redemption assuming he still breaks her out.
4/28/2015 9:51:36 AM
Winterfell is where the Theon/Reek, Sansa, Brienne and Stannis storylines will all converge
4/28/2015 10:10:33 AM
^^^I personally won't be picking the books back up in protest of Martin. Getting the books out before the Series caught up should have been his main objective.I'll watch it on TV and he can keep his books.
4/28/2015 1:44:10 PM
At this point, I think he's trolling all of his readers. That is the only possible reason for his slowness.
4/28/2015 3:02:57 PM
my dad's been writing a book for years. he basically had it finished and then trashed the thing. that was two years ago. and he's written professionally on and off his whole life. i can't imagine the burden of having to close a series out with this kind of attention.
4/28/2015 3:17:55 PM
Just thought about this last night, but it appears that the Griff/Young Griff storyline has been axed for the show
4/29/2015 7:59:48 AM
Which is fine with me...just another person who thinks they're entitled to the throne. How many of those are in this world now? About 12?
4/29/2015 11:07:23 AM
but he's got one of the better claims/stories IMO
4/29/2015 11:46:05 AM
Just read an article where someone is pissed off the way Selmy dies...said it was "meh" while Grey Worm totally kicked ass. While I will agree that Grey Worm did kick ass...so did Selmy. That was definitely not a "meh" death. And you just can't have 65 year old dudes doing cartwheels and back-flips while stabbing dudes ala Oberyn. That was about as realistic of a fight/death scene you could have with one old guy killing about 15 young dudes.ASOIAF fans are fickle.
5/5/2015 9:59:41 AM
Wasn't thinking of this while I was watching it, but it looks like Meryn Trant could meet up with Arya in Braavos now. They seem to be speeding everything up, so Arya could be a faceless man soon, grab her Needle, and go out killing people on her "list". Meryn is accompanying Mr. Tyrell to visit the Iron Bank (although it appeared from that scene in the small council that she was sending him off to be assassinated by Trant...just a weird scene).

Anyone else see this?http://www.ibtimes.com/game-thrones-author-george-rr-martin-teases-big-twist-winds-winter-1869848
5/5/2015 5:12:53 PM
^^ i thought that too, but cersei's main objective was getting tyrell out of king's landing as soon as possible so he couldn't fight loras being imprisoned, so she's probably sending trant so tyrell feels special and gets out of town.
5/5/2015 5:30:04 PM
^ she's trying to isolate margaery, getting rid of mace and loras. Although I don't know why they couldnt have just gotten rid if Loras like in the books. Dragonstone is a short boat trip away and they should realistically be laying siege to it
5/5/2015 10:32:58 PM
agree. this is stupid.
5/6/2015 11:54:33 PM
^^i don't think this is supposed to be getting rid of Loras as much as it is just a stand in for what happened in the books with Margeary being accused and arrested for adultery

I guess they've allocated the direwolf cgi budget to the dragons this season. I don't think we've seen Ghost more than one or two times this year. Makes me wonder what's gonna happen with Jon Snows storyline
5/11/2015 7:49:10 PM
^^ He'll get resurrected. And since he died while serving the knights watch hes fulfilled his oath and free to do what he wants.

5/12/2015 11:59:36 AM
Is Jon going to die this season?
5/12/2015 12:13:57 PM
Before the season started I would have said absolutely, probably in the last episode. But lately I've been wondering if they will get to it or not. The pace they seem to be going with his story just doesn't seem like they'll be ready to kill him by the end of the season. I guess this last episode is a big step in that direction with the plan to work with the wildlings coming out, but i don't know.
5/12/2015 12:26:37 PM
What about the Boltons (in the show)What if Ramsay has Reek apologize to Sansa as a way to show her that it wasnt him who killed her brothers. It was Reek and his father. So if the north revolts against the Boltons, he can at least detach himself from them as a bastard and blame it all on his father and Reek, who he tortured as punishment for what he did to the Starks. And hes left married to the 'last surviving Stark.' At the very least he could keep his head.
5/12/2015 1:12:59 PM
In the book, I think Stannis is pretty much screwed without some type of divine intervention from the Red God. In the show? I think Sansa and that old lady on the inside is going to help Stannis take back Winterfell. But again, where the fuck are Osha and Rickon? Are we ever going to see them again? Or is JRR just going to "peace out" on them?
5/12/2015 3:02:21 PM
I think this is overly harsh but also hilarious.
5/12/2015 9:22:42 PM
Yea, while I feel like the book has too much going on (obviously, since I can't even remember the difference between Kings Landing and Dragonstone), I think the show has just gone off the rails with where they're going.
5/13/2015 7:48:38 AM
are you shitting me? they're skipping blind arya? and her whole trial is giving some girl water? so fucking disappointing.how about we remake star wars and just skip luke going to dagobah?[Edited on May 18, 2015 at 10:43 AM. Reason : .]

You know, with the lack of upcoming material for future seasons, you'd think they would try to drag this one out. They need to check with the writers for The Walking Dead on how to drag some shit out. But where TWD drags on and on with nothing substantive, GoT hurries up while leaving out some of the better parts of the books.
5/18/2015 1:25:41 PM
I can't stand the way the show is portraying Dorne. The jury is still out on Areo Hotah, but the Sand Snakes are horrible. In the books they come off as genuine badasses, but in the show they seem more like spoiled little girls going through a rebellious teenage phaseI love how in the last episode Obara yells out her name and background to Areo, who is her UNCLES personal bodyguard, like he doesnt know who the fuck she is
5/19/2015 1:10:39 PM
Also, Doran looks much more able in the show than in the books. But GG on the spoiled little girls. I think in the books they are going to end up doing much more damage. I can see what the writers were trying to do though. This was their attempt to meld the Oakheart storyline, where (I forget her name) seduces Oakheart and talks him into trying to kidnap Myrcella, only to have it get foiled by Areo.
5/19/2015 3:08:34 PM
Unless he makes a ton of progress with a shitload of storylines then I think it's pretty clear that Martin wrote a bunch of shit that isn't at all crucial to the main plotline.Nothing in Dorne has made a bit of difference in the books. The Dornish prince going to see Dany and getting killed by the dragons... waste of a hundred pages. Most of the stuff going on with the Iron islands (even though Victarion Greyjoy is fucking awesome) seems pretty irrelevant, etc.Ultimately he'll probably tie it all together in a big battle at the end with various factions currently vying for power all facing off together against the real enemy, but he's thrown in so many characters that it's damn near impossible to care about them all, forget about following them all through a bunch of secondary storylines.
5/19/2015 5:09:20 PM
I hated the Dorne chapters, it felt so tacked on.
5/19/2015 7:33:10 PM
I hope it all ties into unseen plots to get others onto the throne. Dorne plots, iron bank, unseen backers, etc.

5/20/2015 11:01:27 PM
Yeah the Maesters definitely figure into most endgame theories. They, the Faceless men, whoever blew up Valyria and Hardhome, and maybe even the White Walkers are all thought to be connected somehow.[Edited on May 21, 2015 at 8:49 AM. Reason : :]

arya went into the room of faces after he had been sent out to sell fish and after she had been blinded. it was what happened when her sight was restoredthe sand snakes scenes were reaaaaaaaaaaaaly bad. like janky and poorly shot and stupid.
