the WR is a stud. i watched some of the Texas A&M game and he caught everything.the rest are propped up by the offense. WR is gone and QB is a senior so I imagine Dykes is ready to bolt.
11/28/2012 12:07:46 AM
^yeah, just pointing out how prolific the offense must be in general...not saying it's best ever...just how it will compare to pro stylean offense like that will truly open up the run w/ the passingfor pg 14

Lol are you looking at this year where they only have like 14 spots to fill? The retarded rankings you are looking at reward quantity over quality. Take a look at past classes dumbshit.
11/28/2012 12:26:09 AM
You realize posting "lol" at the beginning of every post makes you look like a retarded teenage girl right? And Louisville was #42 and #29 the previous two years, nobody is creaming their pants over that either.
11/28/2012 12:30:09 AM
l'ville wouldnt be shit if miami hadnt fucked up during the randy shannon/al golden transition and lost teddy bridgwater

I usually start off with responding to you with a laugh because you obv are all up on my nuts and try to troll me when you can.[Edited on November 28, 2012 at 12:55 AM. Reason : Just telling it how it is]
11/28/2012 12:38:35 AM
Is that supposed to be a retort? It's pretty fucking sorry regardless. You respond to facts and reason with garbage on a regular basis.
11/28/2012 12:41:47 AM
Garbage would be a pretty accurate term to use for your response to my original charlie strong post.

Back on topic.I can appreciate that La Tech has a great offense, and Dykes was taught by Leach, but does anyone really want him as the head coach? And is he someone that the fan base can really get excited about?Think the only way we go with Dykes, is if Yow has some high-profile coordinators/recruiters to partner him with(like she did with Gott). I understand recruiting isn't so easy at La Tech, but I want someone who knows what it takes to go out and recruit against big schools for 4 and 5-star players and actually give us a shot at landing 2-3 a year. I don't want another TOB who will be happy with 2 and 3-star players that "fit the system".
11/28/2012 7:47:21 AM
^^Strong hasn't landed a top 25 class according to scout or rivals since becoming the head coach at Louisville. It's sometimes hard to believe that you are really this dumb.[Edited on November 28, 2012 at 7:52 AM. Reason : .]
11/28/2012 7:51:50 AM
FWIW Dykes recruited Michael Crabtree & Taylor Potts to Texas Tech

According to Rivals, TOB got fourteen 4/5*s between 2008 and 2012 (only Robert Crisp was a 5*).So that averages to almost 3 a season. Just saying.
11/28/2012 10:17:41 AM
11/28/2012 11:13:19 AM
Is Dykes that much better than TOB besides the fact that he is younger?[Edited on November 28, 2012 at 11:28 AM. Reason : and I mean worth paying him double and firing a decent coach better]
11/28/2012 11:26:22 AM
TOB was a decent coach? Sorry, but I think after this season that's a hard sell.
11/28/2012 11:33:01 AM
Boobs continuing to spout the fuck off w/o knowing what the hell he is talking about. Welcome to Sports Talk for the past 5 years.
11/28/2012 11:37:19 AM
11/28/2012 11:46:45 AM
he wasn't good enough, our goals are higher, you're wrong and the AD agrees you're wrong... move on
11/28/2012 11:50:19 AM
Our goals are so much higher that we may be hiring a coach with a worse record the last three years playing in the WAC? Sorry that I don't see Dykes as that much improvement. He's 22-15 in three years in the WAC. Derek Dooley went from LaTech to UT and failed miserably. Sorry for the obvious riskiness in this hire.
11/28/2012 11:53:14 AM
11/28/2012 11:58:21 AM
move on
11/28/2012 11:59:12 AM
Move on? I'm discussing Sonny Dykes, the supposed favorite right no. I can't get excited about a coach whose team just gave up 48 to Utah State and 52 to San Jose State. I'm not buying the hype. Sure his offense is explosive, but his D is non-existent. LaTech makes Archer's scheme look good.[Edited on November 28, 2012 at 12:06 PM. Reason : I'll support the hire, but he needs a damn good DC]
11/28/2012 12:02:09 PM
Do you not expect him to have more money to hire a better D Coordinator when/if Dykes comes here? Debbie seems to be all about getting a coach the right staff, I would expect them to go put together a staff the same way they did for bball.
11/28/2012 12:07:10 PM
yeah, that's really working out for our b-ball team's defense
11/28/2012 12:09:08 PM
maybe we can retain Tenuta
11/28/2012 12:10:05 PM
^^^You would think so, plus he should be bringing his OC Tony Franklin with him. I guess we will see.[Edited on November 28, 2012 at 12:11 PM. Reason : ^don't think so, Tenuta is overrated and doesn't recruit]
11/28/2012 12:10:08 PM
I'd be ok being the Texas Tech of the ACC.That's at least good enough for a division title once every decade, right?Better than anything we've had since 1979l
11/28/2012 12:18:33 PM
I see Boozie's point. What justifies firing TOB and throwing a lot more money at Dykes? Why is he any better than TOB, except age? Unlike some "fans", I'll support the team no matter what, but I'm seriously wondering what Debbie sees in him, I know little about him.[Edited on November 28, 2012 at 12:24 PM. Reason : ]
11/28/2012 12:24:34 PM
11/28/2012 12:29:28 PM
I don't doubt we'd have the resources to get a better DC than what he has at La Tech.
11/28/2012 12:30:57 PM
^^thanks, i don't know much about him and haven't regularly followed this thread.
11/28/2012 12:31:48 PM
the way i look at it, as bad as the Clemson loss was, it was a fun game to watchhopefully our defense will improve, but if we can get offensive performances like that on a semi-regular basis, the team will be fun to watch, and should be competitive
11/28/2012 12:33:18 PM
ahhh packboozie trollin without knowing it
11/28/2012 12:33:56 PM
mr. boobs, what is your well informed opinion of dykes and his potential hiring?
11/28/2012 12:34:56 PM
I actually wouldn't want Tenuta as our DC. If we could keep him in his current capacity, then by all means keep him on board. But Tenuta has a stigma of being a bad recruiter but a defensive genius. We need some strong defensive recruiters, I'm sure the DC at La Tech isn't bad, but I imagine he doesn't have a bevy of talent to work with.
11/28/2012 12:39:23 PM
you know i prefer a defense-minded HC. High powered offenses are a dime a dozen in NCAA FB.Being able to put together a defense like Kirby Smart or Diaco is much more impressive on the collegiate level.I'm not a huge fan of dykes, but I'd rather have him over Chad Morris or some other east coast OC
11/28/2012 12:40:51 PM
At our level, with our competition, and our goals, a high powered offense with at least a decent defense will go far. I'd love to see a CTC type defense again, as it is very exciting to watch. The top tier teams rely on great defense to win... but that is likely slowly changing with spread offenses. We can win the ACC on this type of model; UNC probably isn't far behind if they get their defense up a notch or two.
11/28/2012 12:52:19 PM
I agree, I think it's much easier to find a high-powered offense these days than a strong D. I too would prefer to land someone like Smart and then bring in a solid OC, heck even Dana Bible put up about 25-30 a game this year.I just don't know if Smart could land the same caliber players on D here that he landed in the SEC. Then again we could have a really formidable team if we just kept the best players in NC in the state and picked up a few solid players from VA and SC.
11/28/2012 12:59:35 PM
Need a florida coach to get florida players. That's one of the few things that CTC had going for him.
11/28/2012 1:01:13 PM
The only thing he had going for him.

The Dyke inherited a terrible team and went 5-7 in his first year because of it. Since then he coached LaTech to a 8-5 season and first place in their conference and lost against a vastly more talented #18 TCU in a bowl game by only one score. Then this year, LaTech finished 9-3 and was one OT loss away from another conference championship, plus had the highest PPG of any team in the country, the fourth highest passing YPG and the 17th highest rushing YPG.

http://www.cfbstats.com/2012/leader/national/team/defense/split01/category10/sort01.htmlCheck out Northern Illinois ranks. Dave Doeren > Dykes > Morris. And he's the youngest of the three.[Edited on November 28, 2012 at 3:04 PM. Reason : V I hope not]

ok, the conversation is now 100% about Sonny "Corleone" Dykes. Is he the only possibility at this point?
