1/31/2012 4:31:09 PM
french press and military press are like the same thing
1/31/2012 4:31:42 PM
1/31/2012 4:37:15 PM
as for french press and military press being the same thing, you have just gym-n00bed all over yourself, moron.
1/31/2012 4:43:41 PM
Matt knows what's up.....considering he taught it to me. Haha.
1/31/2012 4:49:43 PM
i guess i was thinking of something else when i posted that, after looking at youtube. i always called the french press the tricep extension

I completed a 400 burpee challenge today in 51:10.6. I'm feeling pretty good but I bet in an hour I'll want to crash out.
1/31/2012 7:07:25 PM
I didnt even know what a burpee was but this no butt jones girl on youtube did a pretty good job explaining it .
1/31/2012 7:23:45 PM
400 burpees in under an hour?I'm guessing you were not doing a full burpee, the kind with a push up.
1/31/2012 7:31:03 PM
Had to tighten my belt a notch today. I coughed and my pants fell down, so i thought it was time.
1/31/2012 7:57:23 PM
I didn't know what burpee was either, and i found a very *informative* video on it.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OKBfVncsq_4&feature=fvst
1/31/2012 8:01:31 PM
She's doing them kind of weird most of the time in that video. Ass all up in the air.
1/31/2012 8:07:57 PM
Matt I started with full burpees and then moved onto half burpees (no push up). Also it wasn't 400 traditional burpees. I'll have to find the work out but it's one that I have mentioned before in the last beach body thread around September/October time frame. Goal is to eventually get to doing full burpees. Eventually being key
1/31/2012 8:15:41 PM
Do you have a track near you?Build up to 1/4 mile long jump- burpees!

1/31/2012 9:39:03 PM
I should clarify - I can do full burpees. I don't ever have a problem doing one but I modified for the 400 rep challenge because I know my arms are my weakest point. And Swinks - I should look into the 1/4 mile burpee. That could be fun.

^^ Looks like another weird dude trying to be the best at exercising.Exercising is a means to an end. Health and a good looking body.I'll never understand why people torture themselves with cardio, extreme fitness challenges, and powerlifting.Wouldn't you rather just look good than waste the hours you have on earth on a treadmill?Do you think anyone cares that you completed some arbitrary length of exercise and now have fucked up toenails.Do girls ever have sex with you because you tell them you can lift more weights than the average bear?In my day it was about how your body looked and how much game you had. I really doubt any guy gets laid by conversing about burpees.

^ if you are implying that people like pursuing a "goal" more than they care to achieve it then i will agree with you

The reason I strength train and improve my conditioning:1. To be stronger than you.2. To be harder to kill.3. To live longer.4. To look better.5. To be more useful in general.6. To enhance my state of mind and well being.7. To perform better at almost any given activity.[Edited on February 1, 2012 at 8:56 AM. Reason : ;]
2/1/2012 8:51:48 AM
^ All of those except for #1. I'd say #2 as well...but I'm not going to lie, every now and then I think about how my level of fitness can help me if I ever encounter an attacker or am in peril. But I have no desire to be stronger than anyone. I just would like to maintain a certain level of strength so that I can do normal shit...like being able to move furniture without hurting my back or having to call 2 friends.
2/1/2012 9:04:11 AM
i just like to be able to bring my guns to the gun show
2/1/2012 9:20:25 AM
Yesterday I did CRX for the first time....shit is kind of crazy hard using your whole body against the different angles. Today I think I'll go for a nice long walk. (3-4 miles)
2/1/2012 9:25:06 AM
when the zombiepocalypse comes, I want to be the strongest zombie of them all.
2/1/2012 9:37:18 AM
^Hahah The approaching zombie apocalypse is another one of my secret motivations to train hard.

Up 0.4 lbs and down 0.2% bodyfat after January. Not a terrible start, but not great either. Weakness was a week in Miami full of drinking & debauchery. Strength was learning some new lifts and making myself do the lifts I hate like pullups instead of dicking around with curls, tricep extensions, etc. Also I ate two pizzas that was probably a full pound of garbage.February is a short month, try to be aggressive with your goals because by March we may all quit
2/1/2012 1:30:40 PM
I'm down a tooth after a visit to the dentist yesterdayso that's like 0.2 lbs!
2/1/2012 2:46:49 PM
Well hell, I have six missing*! No wonder I can't reach 170lbs! *four wisdom teeth and two premolars removed to accommodate braces

Re: burpeesTry them under a pull-up bar, and jump into a pull-up at the top. They are the devil.
2/2/2012 10:14:07 AM
^ haha actually some of the sets i was doing were similar to that. not jumping straight in but basically going from a pull up to a burpee back up to a pull up
2/2/2012 10:27:37 AM
that would dramatically lower the number of burpees i could do.....to 0
2/2/2012 10:30:52 AM
just signed up for another race for March. goal is to try to run 1 race a month.
2/2/2012 2:05:15 PM
That's not a bad idea. I need end goals to make me train. If I did a monthly event/race it would probably help to keep me on track.
2/2/2012 4:26:38 PM
Remind me to take some update pictures this weekend... I keep forgeting]
2/2/2012 4:45:17 PM
I train for weddings. Don't want to be a fatty bridesmaid. Also, I've started doing the elliptical again and I get to do some strengthening exercises at PT next week. I started doing a low carb diet and I hate my life. I love carbs.
2/2/2012 5:50:47 PM
so go back to carbs and follow the same calorie amt as the low carb approach
2/2/2012 6:24:15 PM
Low carb is silly and only works short term. Find foods that will fill you up without sending you over the edge. Plus if you're working out and on your feet all day, you need some carbs in your system. Instead of eliminating carbs entirely, try to eat more veggies/fruit and cut down your serving of carbs to 1 per meal. Ran 5.17 miles tonight in 50 minutes. Yay.
2/2/2012 6:51:45 PM
After a few weeks of battling what I think is a food allergy I am finally down to my first goal weight! I have lost 20 pounds and now weigh what I did in high school! Now, 20 more pounds to go! I'd really be happy with 10, but I will stick to my original goal.
2/2/2012 6:52:39 PM
^ congrats!and I'm eliminating my carb intake, just trying to decrease it. I barely workout at all besides 20 minutes on the elliptical when I can. I just plan to lower my carb intake until I can workout more, which will hopefully be in about 2 weeks.
2/2/2012 7:05:41 PM
I disagree with the low carb being "silly". For me, and most the clients I've set up on it, it works almost magically. The secret is actually to cycle your carbs. Depending on your training, total calorie intake/deficit, and lifestyle... I recommend carb loading post work out, or for every 5lbs lost. There's more to it than that, but I can't give away all my tricks for free.[Edited on February 2, 2012 at 8:08 PM. Reason : ;]
