FWIW, this wasn't a case of her breaking into a random house and stealing shit for pills. This was about her family saying enough is enough.

Settledown's half assed attempt at trolling is not amusing.
3/11/2013 6:33:32 PM
so to stop her from using drugs they set her up with breaking and entering/robbery charges?riiiiiiiiightwell there goes BridgetSPK's whole theory about them not caring about her...[Edited on March 11, 2013 at 6:41 PM. Reason : .]

^^i don't know if you are trolling or not but I agree with you for the most part...my great uncle used to get drunk and beat the dog crap out of my great aunt...when my grandmother asked her about it her excuse was always, "he didn't mean to hurt me, he was just drunk"....finally my grandmother had heard that mess enough, lost her cookies, and said, "he was NOT drunk BEFORE he started drinking!" rachel marie has been whining about having fibromyalgia for years...you know what...a LOT of people have chronic pain...debilitating chronic pain...they don't all because pill heads and start breaking into houses...or even just stealing from their family...she was NOT a pill popping felon BEFORE she started abusing prescription meds...she was, however, BAT SHIT CRAZY...I don't feel sorry for her at all...(whole lot of BSC in this thread)[Edited on March 11, 2013 at 7:13 PM. While I've been having a few laughs at her expense, I'm 100% serious about my stance on drugs and addiction. I have a family full of alcoholic/addicts. Those that wanted to change their lives got sober and their shit together, while those who enjoyed their vices are either dead or still abusing.Maybe I sound a little callous, but I think people use the term 'addiction' to get away with their behavior. And hey, if it makes people happy to abuse drugs/alcohol let them do it. Just don't expect much sympathy afterwards from me. In fact, pitying an addict is probably the absolute worst thing you can do for them. Most addicts have huge self esteem issues and act out to get attention, so you're just enabling them even more by feeling sorry for them. Awfulizing them and shaming them doesn't do much good either. Your best bet is honestly to just ignore them. They'll eventually get tired of doing nothing but getting high alone, or they'll die. Either way, you won't have to deal with shit that isn't your fault. That's pretty much what an intervention is: you tell them you're sick of their shit and if they don't stop, they're out of your life for good.[Edited on March 11, 2013 at 7:43 PM. Reason : I know, I'm a cold hearted monster]

^^why are you assuming she was crazy before pills, did you even know her?
3/11/2013 7:37:05 PM
haha, read the whole thread dude

that's every thread amirite!!!

I don't know RachelMarie, but once you've dealt with an addict/alcoholic, you've pretty much dealt with them all. They are selfish as fuck and will use and manipulate people to get what they want. They aren't necessarily bad people, but they are terrible to be around.
3/11/2013 7:39:51 PM
Whoa, I never said they didn't care about her. I said it seemed like they sucked.
3/11/2013 7:43:30 PM
given how her life turned out, i'd be inclined to agree with you, but you never really know
3/11/2013 7:44:18 PM
She provided me with a wonderful friendship over the years
3/11/2013 7:46:47 PM
What were her other usernames? I've found where she talks about going to live with her biological father. So now I don't know which family I remember as crappy, the adoptive one or her biological father's house.Something Lila?

inadmissible![Edited on March 11, 2013 at 8:20 PM. Reason : AHA, it took me too long to figure out how to spell inadmissible]
part of the problem with all the drug addicts on the streets of SF is that they were crazy before they began using, and now they are crazy AND drug addicted. not a good combo
3/11/2013 8:22:15 PM
3/11/2013 8:23:47 PM
so it sounds like she had mental issues prior to pharmaceutical issues. does that make her a bad person? might it explain her reasoning for becoming dependent on chemicals?
3/11/2013 8:41:43 PM
Drug addicts aren't necessarily "bad people", but it's not a secret that people with unresolved issues/trauma are vulnerable to substance abuse issues. Trying to psychoanalyze someone like this over the Internet is pretty useless. A good therapist is probably needed at this point.

Heroin withdrawal is no joke. A friend of mine was in a bed in detox next to someone in the first few days of withdrawal and it was brutal.
3/11/2013 9:24:39 PM
Of course it is! But it won't kill you.Alcohol/Benzos will though

I've been addicted to heroin for several years now, but I can really quit any time I want
3/11/2013 9:27:23 PM
My substance abuse counselor used to tell me that crack was better for me than alcohol.True story.
3/11/2013 9:28:53 PM
^^^^^ I think that kinda proves his point. If she's been off of it for 10 years (congrats to her) but still goes to treatment, she hasn't "beaten" it, she's just found a successful way to maintain control over her addiction. If she felt it didn't have a hold over her still, why would she continue going to meetings? The 1 person I know that has overcome an addiction as strong as that (herion) still goes to meetings now 2 years after sobering up. She battles with it all the time and a strong support system is necessary to keep a control over it.[Edited on March 11, 2013 at 9:29 PM. Reason : ]

^^a hit or two of crack isn't going to kill you^ actually, it doesn't prove his point at all. he claimed that some doctor said heroin/meth made people throwaways since their brains are permanently fucked up. it's not true at all. heroin doens't kill brain cells! meth on the other hand does, but people still recover if they stay clean and do things to repair the damage. again, i'm sick of people acting like addiction removes all accountability of the addict. it's horseshit. STOP BELIEVING IT![Edited on March 11, 2013 at 9:39 PM. Reason : .]

^ I chuckled
3/11/2013 9:31:01 PM
But yes, addicts and alcoholics will always battle their dependence. You just don't wake up tomorrow and no longer have a problem. However, I really think that a lot of people just replace their chemical dependence with a "12 step addiction." But y'know AA meetings aren't going to ruin your life.
