i dont really get the criticism of the bobcats draft. there really werent any obvious starters this year after the first 3 picks, but biyombo could definitely start for this team. kemba if nothing else has the capability of being an instant offense 6th man like ben gordon, which the bobcats absolutely can use. the only thing i dont like is they need an offensive big man, but biyombo is so good at what he does it seems, i can definitely live with it. and with cho, they may not be done just yet.
6/24/2011 9:58:10 AM
Yeah I don't get it either...people also thought Stephen Curry couldn't cut it in the NBA and look at him.
6/24/2011 10:56:18 AM
bold prediction: 5 years from now we will look back at this draft and say "bismack biyombo? who the fuck is that and where is he playing now?"
6/24/2011 11:03:23 AM
Highly highly likely, but you've got to like his potential on the defensive end. He starred at the Nike Hoop Summit, which features the best prep-players in the country (Austin Rivers, Anthony Davis, James McAdoo, etc). He actually recorded the first triple-double in the history of the event. Semi-long video, but worth watching:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUxKzucNsTo&feature=related

oh lawdhttp://www.coreymaggette.com/
6/24/2011 12:03:45 PM
The criticism stems from trading an elite player (Wallace)for almost nothing and then blowing yet another draft pick on a guy we don't need. Biyombo might be good but he's a project so who knows. Kemba on the other hand is a known quantity. Why take him when there are good players like Leonard and faried available
6/24/2011 12:15:28 PM
Kemba isn't even close to being on Steph's level offensively
6/24/2011 12:18:44 PM
by bringing in Kemba, they pretty much eliminate any chance at bringing in Chris Paul via FA... CP3 being the ONLY top-tier FA that would even consider going to Charlotte. They're too heavy at Guard now. So you cut loose Jax and earlier Henderson, and now you've got Maggette, a project in Bilbo Babimbo, and a Kemba Walker that may never be much better than a top-tier 6th man.I'm sorry, Bobcats fans can look at this in the positive "rebuilding" light, but to me it just seems like they gutted their franchise.[Edited on June 24, 2011 at 12:24 PM. 6/24/2011 12:24:24 PM
^When did they cut Henderson?
6/24/2011 12:27:30 PM
what's wrong with gutting a franchise that was going nowhere but down?
6/24/2011 12:28:25 PM
Hate to say I told you so, but
6/24/2011 12:34:13 PM
Granted, neither pick nor Maggette is on here, but this might be the most pathetic roster in NBA history
6/24/2011 12:38:10 PM
Silas is like a midget
6/24/2011 12:40:56 PM
that is expansion franchise-esque

sorry, i was thinking Wallace. I got my Geralds confused.
6/24/2011 1:03:21 PM
well i see your point, but they'd built a team that was challenging for an 8th seed...is that really the goal? the best pieces were getting older. i honestly think the current team with maybe one or two more moves can still be fighting for 8th.and i really doubt cp3 was ever going to consider coming here anyway. cant bank the future on a long shot. if he wants to come, they'll make it possible.

I haven't watched the NBA in years..hell, I just found out there is a team in Oklahoma City this past season...but looking at that photo of the players above...I recognize not a one of them, except the coach. No wonder they suck.
6/24/2011 2:50:11 PM
i guess you dont watch college basketball either then
6/24/2011 2:51:49 PM

6/24/2011 2:56:19 PM
how do you recognize the coach but no one else?i like Przybilla's stance in that photo. he's like a cadet or something.
6/24/2011 2:57:30 PM
so whos the best player on the team now? Maggette? Diaw? Augustin? Tyrus Thomas?yuck
6/24/2011 2:58:56 PM
it was barkley that said it, but he predicted no basketball would be played next season
6/24/2011 3:00:11 PM
i don't know who the best player is, but i know for sure it isn't Maggette.

Tyrus is by far the best player on the team, but he has a problem staying healthy.
6/25/2011 6:52:07 PM
i know Biyombo wasn't drafted to score baskets, but considering how quick he is and his limited time playing basketball i wonder if he can develop an offensive game over timeit's crazy that when he first began playing organized basketball, he was on the Congo national team 2 weeks later
6/25/2011 8:56:34 PM
Ibaka has developed a hell of an offensive game so there's still hope but really he just needs to be adequate offensively to help us.
6/25/2011 9:46:26 PM
Ok, the draft was not spectacular by any means, but that is because of the quality of the draft, but I like what the organization did. I am a fan of Kemba and think he could be a quality player (even if it is in the 6th man role). There were no real "instant stars" in this draft and Kemba is a solid pick who has proven his capabilities in college. Although I am not excited over the loss of Wallace and now Jackson, I like the moves we made. And the "prospect" of having CP is just that...trying to entice him and not making a move in case we miss could be drastic. I still don't rule out the chance of CP. III
6/26/2011 7:02:09 PM
at the risk of hearing the "WHO CARES WE JUST NEED TO WIN" people, when the hell can they get on the ball w/ changing the mascotat least show some motions, i know it'll take 2-3 yrs to complete
6/26/2011 7:05:50 PM
nah i prefer small faced felinesthe only cool thing about a bobcat is that they can jump really highand also the fact that if i wanted to, i could kick one really farthis is probably the worst version of the logo. i mean, wtf?][Edited on June 26, 2011 at 7:36 PM. Reason : .]
6/26/2011 7:28:45 PM
... hell even all they do is make the right half of the face of logos darker these days
6/26/2011 7:43:48 PM
oooooooh mysterious likei remember Jordan talking about re-branding the team. is that what you meant? or just changing the ridiculous logo/color scheme?he was hesitant to rename the team due to cost. if he did it, i would prefer a fan vote as opposed to Bob Johnson type behavior
6/26/2011 7:49:26 PM
get rid of "bobcats" altogetherill bring back the old hopes of the NBA sending the New Orleans franchise to Seattle and giving them "(Super)Sonics" and giving Charlotte back "Hornets"
6/26/2011 7:52:51 PM
if they could work out getting "Hornets" back, i would be ecstaticbut who the shit decided on the final team names for the original poll?1. Charlotte Flight2. Charlotte Dragons3. Charlotte BobcatsCharlotte Bobcats seems like the most tolerable, though WNBAishalso, here are Jordan's comments (over a year old, but still relevant i think) on the topic of rebranding:
6/26/2011 8:04:44 PM
Looking thru the "Thunder Model", our best case scenario is to start being relevant again in two years, and to start contending again in 3-4. 2011-2012 season: We suck absolute horse cock. Top 5 pick to be used on Barnes/Jones/Gilchrist/Miller. Fan base has delusions of Howard or Paul, but them taking a shit at Charlotte Douglas is the closest we'll get to either of them2012-2013 season: We suck a little less. The Walker/Biyombo/Henderson/2012 draft pick nucleus starts to gain chemistry and makes a late season rally, but we still finish poorly enough for another top 8 pick. Offensive minded big man or athletic 2 guard would be a nice pick here.2013-2014 season: If we play our cards right, maybe at this point we finally start to see the fruits of Cho's labor. Remember, losing equals winning for the next two seasons. We need two more top 10 picks to restock the roster. Hopefully top 5.
