plays well in preseason when paired with skilled forwards, so Mo puts him in the press box. Team starts soiling the linens, so Patty gets to play garbage minutes with 4th liners. SHOCKINGLY, that line doesn't produce, so it must be time to cut him. LOGIC FAIL

Dumb move. Why even give someone like Tlusty a shot when POS played so well in the preseason?

I would have been more butthurt about this a week or two ago, but at this point it's kinda of a meh move. If they're not going to use him, this works out for both parties. We save money, he gets a shot at top 9 minutes.

^^^Uh, what would you have Mo do to wedge Patty in?

Put Sammy, who is making more, in the box? Dwyer? I know you have hate for Dwyer being on the third, but it looks like he fits there. The Juice has snapped out of his funk, so really you could only make a case for throwing POS on the third line. Maybe it would have worked if he had more time, but it's not our goal scoring that is the problem here, anyway.

We had too many forwards, and Patty didn't work out. Better to let go of him now, and when there's an injury get Boychuk or Dalpe up here.

^^ Tlusty has a guaranteed one way deal. And we invested our abortion of a pick in Paradis in him. POS, as talented as he MAY be (he hasn't shown shit since getting traded from LA a few years ago), was a guy we picked up right before training camp. We have no responsibility towards him.

[Edited on November 23, 2010 at 2:56 PM. Reason : that said, hope it works out for Patty elsewhere if he gets an opportunity.]

Canes acquired center Ryan Carter from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for forwards Stefan Chaput and Matt Kennedy.

Quote :
"“Ryan is an experienced player that can give us more balance down the middle and strengthen our penalty kill,” said Rutherford.

Carter, 27, has totaled three points (1g, 2a) and 22 penalty minutes in 18 games this season for the Ducks. The White Bear Lake, MN, native is averaging 10:44 per game in ice time and has won 50.3 percent of his face-offs. Originally signed by the Ducks as a free agent on July 12, 2006, Carter (6’2”, 200 lbs.) has totaled 12 goals, 17 assists (29 points) and 141 penalty minutes in 138 NHL games, all with Anaheim. He has played in 20 career Stanley Cup playoff games, earning five points (2g, 3a), and was a member of the Ducks’ 2007 Stanley Cup championship team.

Carter played college hockey at Minnesota State-Mankato (WCHA), totaling 34 goals and 24 assists (58 points) in 76 career games. He has played 89 career American Hockey League (AHL) games with Portland, earning 41 points (19g, 22a). Carter’s career statistics are below.

Chaput and Kennedy were each playing with Charlotte (AHL) this season. Chaput had three assists in 20 games played and Kennedy has notched one assist in eight games."

does this do anything to help the Canes or the Checkers? or is it a move for the sake of moving? also, can we stop taking the dregs from Anaheim?

clears up a contract and room in Charlotte. Carter will likely see time here. more of a 4th liner type instead of a 4th line plug in POS. kennedy and chaput were never going to do anything here, and likely never will anywhere.

I hope that with some of these moves guys like Samson and Boychuck get more of a chance to come up and make a mark.

with injuries, sure. now that we have a legit "4th line", they shouldn't get stuck there when they do come up.

i wouldn't expect samson up unless there's a run on injuries though, i don't think he's going to get his shot in Carolina.

Peters 1st goal.

Should've won that game. Can't believe the back to back penalties after the tying goal. Pretty good crowd tonight at least.

Attendance 15,200 at RBC Center

also, wow @ dalpe, 11 seconds apart:
RT @CheckersHockey: Zac Dalpe scores twice in the final minute to give the Checkers a 4-3 win! http://ow.ly/3feRb

HUGE GOAL by Staal, but I still hate SO's. Especially since we've been awful at them since '06.

I've never gotten seats that close, but I'm looking to sit around there for a game or two before I head back onto active duty in February...what section do those seats fall in?

Section 115. Nashville numbers their rows strangely, so AA is on the glass. Then it goes back to some other double letter before row A starts. CC is behind the bench.

I'm assuming you meant for the RBC Center though. In which case 105 row C would be behind the bench. It's a cool way to experience a game, but be aware that your view is going to be obstructed at times due to coaches standing in front of you, players moving around, etc. I wouldn't want to sit there all the time, but for a game or 2 it's cool.

parking anything other than $10

ahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

I can't believe they even did one game where they didn't charge for parking. That's why I fucking love the Canes Bus.

edit: well fuck the bus, it seems. Vulcan, I'm reading on hfboards the bus came at its normal time and not 30 minutes later? I'm gonna go walk down to Wilmington/Hargett in case they were mistaken, but I guess I'm not going to the game

Went to the game last night....we couldn't do anything right and the stars just plain outplayed us in every facet. They were faster, crisp with their passing, and very much in sync with each other while the canes were none of those. So far we look like the most mediocre, middle of the pack team in the NHL right now

if we're going to go on one of those late season runs, we're at least in a spot where we haven't dug that big of a hole.

that being said nothing i've seen so far leads me to believe this team is capable of going on said run.
