When I look at Scott, all I can think of is Hoosiers.

Degand had some nice plays this game too.A couple clutch basket drives that took the air out of the crowd and the fla state rally.and he nailed a couple sets of freethrows

The 'Noles top 25 presence was about as spectacular as ours was after we were crowned Champions of Old Spicery.

i wish someone smarter than me would do a youtube compilation from last night's game.

No one is going to do that for a game of this minor significance[Edited on January 13, 2010 at 10:39 AM. Reason : x]

haha they did for the last win of the football season. Both essentially meaningless wins over barely ranked opponents

^^ Add the miracle win for Arizona and Smith being suspended for that game. We are a couple of bad bounces away from being a decent team.

Man if everything would have went right for us (i.e. hitting FTs against UVA and UF, and Smith not getting suspended for the UA game) we could have been looking at a 15-2 (2-1) record right now with losses only to Northwestern and Wake Forest. [Edited on January 13, 2010 at 1:30 PM. Reason : ]

JESUS PEOPLE. Let's wait a game or two and see which NCSU is the real one before claiming that we should have one or two losses.
1/13/2010 1:36:15 PM
^Yeah no shit....we win one game on the road against an average ACC team and people are wetting their pants.
1/13/2010 1:52:22 PM
well, he has a pointflorida and arizona could have easily gone the other way. and, well, blowing a lead against UVA....but, that's part of the game. our teams have been in a lot of games where it could have easily gone the other way....at some point we're going to have to take advantage of those opportunities.with how inconsistent we are night to night scoring, its gonna be a bipolar rest of the year. we may fuck up and lose to some shitty teams, like UVA, but we also could go lights out and steal some games like we just did last night.if Wood keeps it up and can average 12-15 for us for the rest of the way that would be huge, but i don't know if he can just yet. hopefully last night makes up for the lack of confidence he had due to his terrible drought to begin the season.i'm also excited to see what Howell does as he continues to get back into game shape and gets acclimated to ACC play. I definitely agree with folks that Horner, while he can shoot, needs to lose some minutes to an actual post player.

we must withhold all excitement until a loss!i bet you people complaining of state fans being excited about an impressive win are gonna be watching the doomsday clock get moved tomorrow online. bunch of whiners
1/13/2010 2:31:09 PM
the entire key to the game this coming saturday is how well we can deal with full court pressure, the ENTIRE game. if we start doing dumb things and freaking out and throwing the ball away, it will be over early. but i suspect the next few days at practice will be dedicated to breaking the press on offense, and double team defense on Trevor Booker.its really up to Javi, Julius, and Farnold to keep us in the game on Saturday.[Edited on January 13, 2010 at 2:48 PM. yes we won. sure.we still suck balls. it took a titanic night that might never get repeated again from an overhyped freshman for us to barely win by 7 points. somebody else go 10/10 at the finish on freethrows. we suck.watch us lose the next 5 games. uggh.plz2letdisjinxwork[Edited on January 13, 2010 at 2:52 PM. I'm not saying don't be excited. But we played poorly in all of our losses and It's hard to tell if this was a fluke or not.
1/13/2010 2:53:13 PM
i asked earlier in the thread but does anybody know the last time before yesterday that we beat a ranked team in bball?

February 11 2009 No. 8 Wake Forest W 82-76[Edited on January 13, 2010 at 3:06 PM. Reason : we've only played 2 ranked teams (unc and wake forest, again) since then, before the fsu game.]

how do you go 7/11 from the arc for 31 points and get labelled "overhyped"wasn't his performance last night the fucking textbook definition of "living up to the hype"?

I submitted a question to Dana O'Neil's chat (ESPN college bball writer). And here's what she said.Patrick (Philadelphia)NC State has had some bad luck recently with the Florida miracle and missed opportunities against Arizona and Virginia. Do you think their win @ #25 FSU could be the springboard to give this young team the confidence to close out games and perhaps sneak into the NCAA Tournament? I think they need to go 9-7 in the ACC to have a shot.Dana O'Neil(3:48 PM)Patrick: Maybe. Heaven knows they needed the in pretty desperately. Not exactly an easy run coming up - Duke, Clemson, Maryland, UNC in some order or another.I guess she meant to type needed "it"http://espn.go.com/sportsnation/chat/_/id/30314[Edited on January 13, 2010 at 3:54 PM. guys, i hate to be a dick, b/c i'm really pleased w/ scott wood and all that, but two out of the last eight mr. indiana basketball winners went to unc.you can clearly go to school in north carolina and win mr. basketball indiana.

yeah, these convenient excuses are extremely lame

Those guys (Sean May and Tyler Zeller) were far and away the best/most hyped players in the state during their senior year (and yes I realize that Julius Mays was one of the contenders when Zeller won it; again 3* versus a 5*). Scott Wood's class didn't have some super hyped up 5* player in it.Look at last year's Mr. Basketball, Jordan Hulls. He's not anything too special, but he is from Bloomington and just so happens to be going to IU, yet I wouldn't trade Wood for him.
1/13/2010 4:30:25 PM
guys all i'm saying is there is undeniable proof that going to school in north carolina does not take you out of the running for mr. basketball in indiana.tell me i'm wrong.
