1. For the 2000th, Javi is nursing a sore leg. He was also having a pretty horrible game until the last 1:30 with 6 TO's (don't get my wrong, I wanted Javi to play more. But I think his time on the bench is leg-related).2. Vandenberg made a huge impact on the game from a defensive standpoint. He also led the team with 11 rebounds. Starting him wasn't a mistake in the least IMO3. Howell has been healthy for what, two weeks? His conditioning is pretty poor at this point and he had some downright pitiful turnovers early on.[Edited on December 25, 2009 at 2:01 PM. Reason : ]

why you got to go and mess up a good argument with logic Mav?

^^^Howell had shown absolutely nothing up until the middle of the 2nd half that he deserved to play over Vandenberg, who was by far the better defender and rebounder on wednesday night. In addition to what Mav said, Javi is not only injured, he was having his worst game of the season with 6 turnovers, and 3 of them (and involved in another) were in the 2 minutes before he was benched at the end of the game. As much as I would have prefered him to be in the game, Mays was playing solidly, shooting the ball well, and not turning it over. Thats a decision I think Lowe had to make. Honestly, I am questioning some of Lowe's substitution patterns up to this point in the season, especially in the first half like in the wake game, but his hands were tied on wednesday between Smith being out, horner not getting off the plane, and Javi sleeping through the first 38 minutes.

LOL at pacbooZies postStarting vandenburg wasn't a mistake...howell is coming Off injury and is not in shape to play bulk minutes

a huge criticism of lowe in the past is that his teams played little to no defenseso now he's playing vandenberg and painter over howell for their defense, and he's an idioti must say, i think deshawn painter is absolutely worthless right now - and he's almost as lost on D as howell, but vandenberg brings something the other two don't. and before this game, none of the three had done anything on offense anyway

i think significantly younger might be a stretch. younger, yes. (1.03 yrs avg experience vs 1.39 yrs avg exp) both teams are very young.[Edited on December 25, 2009 at 4:17 PM. Reason : ]

I forgot Horne played (just looked at the box score)... he had missed two weeks before the game. And with Smith out it was probably equal to maybe us being a younger.

judging from the eye test I think the defense has looked a little better this year than in the past. Still not acceptable but at least improving, which I thought wasnt likely to happen in the Lowe era barring an assistant coaching changeIt's still not going to be good as long as Mays plays minutes, and Horner and Smith are our big time contributors (though Smith has been surprisingly passable this year imo).

julius mays boggles the mind. he comes in and looks absolutely awful, yet his line is 13 points, 4 assists and only 1 turnover (even though i would've sworn he had more than that).

man, i don't want either of them to play.i think i'd still rather have mays than degand, but they're both iffy.]
