damn War Horse just took a dump the size of an armadillo carapace

wtf i had just setup a campsite near watching the Daedelus and Sons stranger's flight (heh) and I had a waypoint set in Great Plains, and when I 'warped' there, instead of standing at my waypoint, I was standing inside a moving train in Great Plains

how do you hog tie someone? I get it right about 10% of the time. Whenever I lasso someone they get up before I can get off the horse or run up to them.

The controls in general seem overly cumbersome. Switching weapons, shooting while riding, dead eye...hell, i'm not even sure I understand all the controls for just riding the horse. maybe its just old age catching up with me.

the Survivalist maps come in handy if you want to do them quickly...they're like $15-$30 or something but for 20 minutes you see all the flowers nearby...easy to get any of the survivalist challenges if you just teleport into the area, use the map, and ride on your horse from flower to flower...or if they're close enough just run

holy shit I just teleported to Great Plains again and this time War Horse got killed by a train and I fell off and survived, but I was shaken up...cause that shit was messed up

the 'travel to destination' option from a campsite doesn't really factor in train schedules and locations lawl

im wondering what other animals i need to kill to get the 'kill one of every animal' achievement

so far I have killed (and skinned/plucked feathers):

Armadillo, Bear, Beaver, Boar, Buck, Buffalo, Chicken, Cougar, Coyote, Crow, Deer, Dog, Eagle, Fox, Goat, Hawk, Horse, Rabbit, Raccoon, Skunk, Snake, Vulture, Wolf

i'm finding this game to be awesome.

i was out picking flowers when a scantily clad damsel flagged me down and asked for a ride. i stopped and she tried to jack my horse. she was almost out of site when i whistled for my horse to come back, so he bucked her ass off and returned. She ended up getting hogtied and thrown on the back, i was going to take her to jail, but ended up accidentally running off a cliff and killing us all.

I do like just busting into the Armadillo saloon and murdering all the gang members there. Everyone there with a top-hat (except the pianist) is part of the Wilson gang, and you can slaughter them with impunity, even right in front of the cops.

Yeah I've done it several times.

If they charge at you run to the side, and after they stop charging run right at them, they will run from you but keep chasing them until you can catch and kill them.

got my legends of the west outfit.

i've not started act 3 yet, wanted to do all the random shit before continuing with the story. need a couple of bounties to finish off gang outfits... looked at the hours i've spent in the game.. WAY more than i thought. played the shit out of this game.

btw i had a hard time killing a bear with a knife. here's the strategy that worked for me -- find a bear, shoot it from a distance with the buffalo rifle in the leg or back, then get closer, lasso it, run and knife it while it's stunned, then lasso it again, etc. took 4-5 knife hits. though you people might have found a better way.

i am amazed at the lack of cougars i'm finding. i've literally only been attacked once. I'm still in Act 1 based in Armadillo, but i've gone to most of the places that people have suggested to get them and can't find any.

I've been attacked by maybe 2 or 3...still in act 1. I spend more time fucking around than anything else, and I usually only play this game when there's no one mounting in MW2...so I'm way behind. Regardless this game is fun as hell, and I've never really enjoyed any other Rockstar games.

I've found several north of Bonnie's ranch where the boar is drawn on the map. I'd suggest going there and laying out some bait. That might work.
