Wish we could lose in the Elite 8.Thank god they didn't win another title. But this thread is funny when they lose b/c they suck (i.e. football and early this year in basketball) or when they get beat by a team they shouldn't have. But when they lose in the tournament after advancing further than we have in 28 years, bumping this thread makes us look pathetic.

Guess that horseshoe finally fell out of their ass. They've had so many teams roll over for them at the end of the game and Kentucky almost did the same thing.Fuck UNC. I hope Barnes leaves.

I don't particularly pile on in public when they make it to a round we haven't seen in over a quarter century. However, when they go over the loser's check list, it's hard not to enjoy these moments:The refs hosed us - CheckWe didn't play well - Check(Insert opponent) played out of their minds - CheckIf we had Player X, we would have won - CheckOur brackett was hard, (Insert other powerhouse)'s was easy - CheckThe part about the refs is obviously the most Shakespearean. They get the calls in every game I've ever watched them in except maybe a Duke game every other year. They had 2 first half fouls against Washington, Washington was hit with 11 and both teams played physical. This was a travesty, and Washington deserved to win. So to listen to grown men moved to tears about the Kentucky officiating (when in fact the officials called it right down the middle) is fun. Hinson is the key here, the refs weren't putting up with his crap that he normally pulls, and it cost his team greatly. Apparently having Bullock would have meant Gary the Glove Payton defense on Knight. The Kansas bracket talk died down obviously after VCU, but was fun up until that point.

This thread will probably not be getting a lot of action next basketball season. Barnes to announce he will return for his sophomore season:http://bleacherreport.com/articles/653576-report-harrison-barnes-to-return-for-sophomore-year-at-north-carolina?fb_ref=article_bottom&fb_source=home_oneline
4/4/2011 3:01:08 PM
yep he's pretty much the greatest basketball player in the history the world
4/4/2011 3:16:18 PM
4/4/2011 3:19:08 PM
What about Henson?
4/4/2011 3:33:28 PM
My dream would be Henson, Zeller, and Barnes leaving.Henson is still a bean pole with a horrible shot. I don't know if he would be lottery this year. I think Zeller could be a lottery pick, but he could still improve A LOT by staying.Unfortunately, I think there is a pretty good chance that they all stay.
4/4/2011 3:47:48 PM
^ Agreed. I see all three returning and Marshall becoming a better shooter. Lethal combo of skills in those four players. God forbid they actually add a three point threat to compliment that group [Edited on April 4, 2011 at 4:36 PM. Reason : gy]
4/4/2011 4:35:54 PM
Ugh if all three come back we can pretty much count on them being a top five easily next year my guess would be a media jerkoff resulting in them starting number one.
4/4/2011 4:48:58 PM
I'd say it depends on whether Irving and Sullinger come back.
4/4/2011 7:45:40 PM
that's true. irving makes any team a contender, and while osu loses diebler and lighty, they keep sully, craft, thomas and buford, which is a nice nucleus. their recruiting class is surprisingly "meh," howeverif the above happens, it won't be like 2009 where it was unc and everyone else. should be some power at the top[Edited on April 4, 2011 at 7:50 PM. Reason : .]
4/4/2011 7:50:04 PM
If you put a gun to my head and told me I had to name 1 team that would be in the Final Four next year, I'd say Butler
4/4/2011 7:51:38 PM
I would venture that even if Irving comes back UNC would be ranked ahead if Henson and Barnes both stay. Their incoming class is fantastic, Marshall should improve his shot and Zeller is an offensive stud.Duke has the Plumlees and Kelly as their frontcourt and that's about it. Yuck. Though I think Rivers is the best of the any of the kids coming to the Triangle next year. For what it's worth, from what I've seen and read Gbinije is one of the more overrated players in the class.[Edited on April 4, 2011 at 7:54 PM. Reason : both would be Top 5 at worst]
4/4/2011 7:51:46 PM
Guys what is going on here? This thread is supposed to be a celebratory thread. You're all up in here like
4/4/2011 8:00:33 PM
i don't really follow other teams in the off-season, but is K planning on letting rivers run point? i know they're bringing in cook, but obviously rivers and curry will start, with i guess the plumbobs and kelly. rivers seems like a pure chucker, so it'll be interesting to watch him have to defer to his teammates
4/4/2011 8:01:10 PM
Gbinjie is pretty good. he's not even THAT highly ranked so idk why he'd be overrated. Duke should also be adding Deandre Daniels soon who I think is underrated.Irving ain't coming back though. UNC will be very good next year. but let's not go crazy. a lot of the games they won were very very close and it's not like they were against great competition. it's not like they're some juggernaut returning their nucleus. Kentucky is going to have ridiculous talent next year, especially if someone like Knight stays.^ if (very likely) Duke gets Daniels, I think you'd see a starting 5 of Curry Rivers Daniels Plumlee Plumlee. maybe Cook instead of Curry. not a crazy awesome lineup but not bad either.[Edited on April 4, 2011 at 8:16 PM. Reason : ]
4/4/2011 8:13:39 PM
I haven't heard anything about Rivers being anything but a 2. I expect Curry and Cook will be operating the point.[Edited on April 4, 2011 at 8:15 PM. Reason : someone make a damned 2011-2012 college basketball thread already]
4/4/2011 8:14:34 PM
Also, theoretically Kentucky should look like preseason #1 every year right after the season is over, but I don't think a single person expects good Freshmen from Kentucky to stay.
4/4/2011 8:47:37 PM
a sweep of UNC is worth a bump.
4/17/2011 4:16:17 PM
^ I agree. Three games is not a fluke.

lost 13-6 to Maryland in first round of lacrosse tournamentthey got beat to death on their home field
5/15/2011 6:08:50 PM
TAKE THAT CAROWHINA!!!!!!!!!!!!are there IC posts about NCSU's lacrosse team?
5/15/2011 6:44:53 PM
^our club team whooped theirs this spring.
5/15/2011 7:06:03 PM
i used to play club at State, and i can say that while Carolina's club team is extremely disorganized and lacks a coach (or at least a decent one), the fact that they have a lot of guys who left the D1 team and play club for fun makes it a big deal to beat them.i mean they had some absolutely great players, but you could tell they were just out of shape and didn't give a fuck. it was still fun to beat them however. State needs to get its D1 lacrosse team back so we can have another sport in which to compete with Carolina.
5/15/2011 9:52:30 PM
I'd rather start competing with them in a sport they suck at.
5/15/2011 9:55:29 PM
State used to have a decent team back in the 70's/early 80's, and with the rapid spread of lacrosse across NC and the south in general i think State could compete with UNC in lacrosse (after getting a full recruiting class through 4 years)
5/15/2011 9:58:44 PM
i dont want to disrespect anybody itt (ie DDB) but this thread should really only be bumped when UNC loses in: basketball, football or baseball
5/15/2011 10:10:48 PM
for the record i did not bump it. i responded to a "bttt". also, i don't really care that much about UNC's lacrosse team, i was just trying to add some info. i realize that no one really cares about Carolina unless they lose in a revenue sport.
5/15/2011 10:13:55 PM
not claiming you bttt'd it, just saying they talk shit about all their titles in non-revenue sports as if that makes them better than everyone...whereas nobody nationally cares about any schools' sports aside from football and basketball...and baseball to a lesser extent...i'd rather NCSU be good at men's lacrosse than women's soccer but honestly i dont care about anything but the big 3 when it comes to arguing with UNC alums
5/15/2011 10:25:04 PM
yeah if you argue with a UNC fan about losing in lacrosse (or any secondary sport for that matter) they will inevitably bring the argument back to basketball and how great they are. it makes beating them in football so much sweeter because they can't claim it's non-revenue/a sport no one cares about.
