mccain should have won in 2000. It's sad what he's become now though.

http://videos.mediaite.com/video/Michele-Bachmann-On-Fox-News-SuAt about the 4:30 mark, when asked how she would handle the 30 million Americans or more that are currently uninsured, Michele Bachmann responded:
4/13/2010 3:24:31 PM
How so? You are using your OWN money, allowing you to keep and spend your OWN MONEY is not socialism, despite what the Dems think. Thinking that your money first belongs to the state, IS.
4/13/2010 3:47:54 PM
Would you be any less opposed to this if we were giving everyone $600 who decided to have healthcare, and not giving any money to those who didn't?
4/13/2010 3:56:56 PM
what am I opposed to?And actually, the price of your insurance would probably be more than 600 a year, so I would be fine with people keeping some of thier tax money to buy thier own insurance. Or actually having to do something responsible in order to get something from washington would be a welcomed change.
4/13/2010 4:08:06 PM
So I'm misunderstanding her statement, I think. I was thinking that she was suggesting that we just deduct the entire expense and get fully compensated by the government.I was like, "wut?"
4/13/2010 4:37:35 PM
shes talking about deducting the ammount from your taxable income. Its a good idea for the short term and could replace HSAs which essentially do the same thing, but in a kind of roundabout way.
4/13/2010 5:11:31 PM
I, for one, am looking forward to the GOP's filibuster of the bill outlawing the creation of investment instruments designed to fail. Here's hoping they re-legalize the pigeon drop too!

4/20/2010 9:36:05 PM
^Seems like Obama is adding more to the deficit, not cutting it. Maybe the pledge doesn't go into effect unless he gets re-elected.

orrr using hyperbole to demonstrate that the health care system is way too complicated?YOU DECIDE
4/21/2010 10:21:12 AM
I will never understand why people insist that something is bad if it's complex.Do you have any fucking idea how complex a fucking iPhone is? Yet, if we follow the same policy of healthcare, if the instructions for assembly and operation of an iPhone can't fit on ten pages, then it's a wasteful piece of shit.
4/21/2010 10:26:37 AM
i think its more about the inefficiencies that derive from the complication.
4/21/2010 10:46:54 AM
To which I would fire back "What on earth do you personally know about the inefficiences in a two thousand page bill drafted by experts from various fields on government, law, economics, and healthcare?" Are you some sort of genius?
4/21/2010 10:51:38 AM
There is something to be said against a bill that is so long and complex that it cannot be wholly understood and measured by a single representative.
4/21/2010 10:58:44 AM
4/21/2010 11:05:27 AM
an iphone isn't complicated at all. For any given input there is 1 output. In the healthcare system for any given input there is an infinite possibility of output. In addition, where an iphone has very limited input possibilities, healthcare has an infinite number of inputs depending on person, location, time of day, weather, doctor, insurance, etc..etc..etc...Alot can be done to simplify the healthcare system, starting with something as simple as standardizing codes for all procedures. From there you can eliminate tons of insurance beuracracy and start to home in on comparative costs for the same procedure from doc to doc and hospital to hospital.

^Involuntary microchipping may sound absurd now. But you know, back in 1913...Americans were told by politicians that the newly enacted income tax would never affect anyone but the 1% super-rich.

I believe her point, and maybe Im missing it, is that doctors tend to be very generous people. We have seen people at no cost bc they truely didnt have anything and needed help. But Ill send someone to collections in a heartbeat when they just want to not pay for the services they got. Esp with the pack of cigs in the pocket and a blackberry.(fyi, if you expect people to feel sorry for you and give you a break, leave all your expensive toys at home)
