does anyone have any inside information about when i might be getting this? if so, pm me! I called at&t but they can't give out any information about when they will expand.

I'm very happy to be done with TWC. I don't like this DVR box, but I think with time I'll be efficient enough that it won't bother me so much. I do miss the ability to rewind the previous channel you were on though...If you are watching a show a few minutes behind the live feed and you accidentally switch channels you lose that cache to be able to rewind to where you were on the previous channel. That's pretty weak. For those of you who switched from TWC, did they refuse to cancel your service until you returned the boxes? They refused to cancel mine when I called. I argued with the lady and told her that I would return the boxes within three business days and she finally agreed to cancel my subscription. When I returned the boxes two days later I found out that I was still being billed. That is some bullshit. You should not be forced to pay for a service that you no longer want.[Edited on September 22, 2009 at 2:08 PM. Reason : s]
9/22/2009 2:08:29 PM
someone PM me when they get a HD-only planhows the internet compare to TWC? I currently got 7mbps Earthlink for $40, and I didn't see any u-verse plans that were better
9/22/2009 2:29:23 PM
why wait for HD only? thinking it will be cheaper without all the other channels?and the internet is great - you get the advertised speed, the upload speed is much better than TWC hands down, and it actually works without failure... unlike TWC [Edited on September 22, 2009 at 2:53 PM. Reason : .]
9/22/2009 2:53:00 PM
Well I signed up for U450 with MAX 18 Internet service... I will be surprised if it all works as advertised on day 1.BTW: my package was $166/month for six months, with $250 visa card. No promo codes, purchased straight from att's site.Only shitty thing so far is that I have to wait until Oct 13 for install.[Edited on September 22, 2009 at 2:55 PM. Reason : install date added]
9/22/2009 2:54:01 PM
geez 166/month sounds like a lot for cable/internet
9/22/2009 3:01:02 PM
well there is unlimited phone too, but I dont really care about that...i am already paying 128/month to TWC for 10mbps internet and digital cable with hbo sho... So 166/month isnt that bad, considering there are 110 HD channels on uverse.

9/22/2009 3:26:31 PM
Just got the notification that MultiView is out. Lets you watch 4 sports stations, 4 kids station, or 4 news stations at the same time. Testing it out with sports view and its pretty cool.
9/24/2009 1:30:07 PM
Somebody should have let me know they have a referral program before I signed up...I would have put you down as a referrer and given you the referral bonus. In any case, if anyone else is signing up send me a PM and I'll send you a referral e-mail.
9/24/2009 1:48:39 PM
I do not feel like going back and reading all of this. All I want to know how does "turbo" roadrunner compare with U-VERSE?
9/24/2009 2:13:28 PM
^it doesn't. Turbo is just a 'spike' of increased performance for a short period of time. U-Verse is increased performance all the time.
9/24/2009 2:34:04 PM
^^RoadRunner is crap. Turbo is like someone sprayed Febreze on the crap, the stink still comes back.[Edited on September 24, 2009 at 8:56 PM. Reason : .]
9/24/2009 8:55:45 PM
so i should dump TWC and go for U-VERSE.What are the price like?
9/25/2009 1:02:22 AM
http://www.att.com
9/25/2009 8:00:31 AM
^^They have all the prices on the website, they don't do any negotiating on them as far as I know.
9/25/2009 7:51:26 PM
^^^depends on your needs. def worth looking into. all things being equal, go with uverse
9/25/2009 7:58:28 PM
okay, when is this going to be available. I put in my zipcode (27612) and its still not available.
9/26/2009 12:12:43 PM
anyone have the NFL Redzone channel? how much is it? ]
9/26/2009 10:46:46 PM
^I do...its free but I don't watch it. Not sure if its free for everyone or just people with the sports package. I've got the sports package + european sports package. I also got an alert the other day saying that multiview has been added free of charge for sports, news, and kids.
9/27/2009 1:24:14 PM
we have U400 but not any kinda sports package, so i guess we just need to call and add that particular channel. i'm guessing it won't be more than $5/mo.
9/27/2009 1:28:54 PM
so is it possible/do you think, they'll ever allow more than 2 hd streams?
9/27/2009 8:50:32 PM
anyone else getting shitty ping to the dallas area?
9/27/2009 11:51:47 PM
^^yes.your line probably ranges at about 46mbps on average, they can definitely handle the extra traffic from your house to the VRAD. the problem comes in the backhaul from the nodes - that would choke it, i'm sure.
9/28/2009 1:25:47 PM
^^^I hope so. I really only need one more. There is never a time that I am taping more than 2 hd shows. I'm having to watch MNF in sd right now
9/28/2009 8:42:48 PM
yeh, we're typically watching 2 HD channels when another HD channel is being recorded
9/28/2009 10:37:17 PM
a guy who lives .2mi from me can get service but I can'tthis is the first time I've used the mad face
9/29/2009 1:21:08 PM
Same here. Brett, Mark and Teddy have it but Tim, Pat and I can't get it... sucks ass. TWC is so shitty. I have to reset the box daily because the HD feed shits out.
9/29/2009 3:00:55 PM
some dude came by and offered 200 channels and 10mbps for $119

So I got this installed last week, and really haven't played with it yet due to the flu.Here are some things that I have discovered and pardon me if there already mentioned in the other 14 pages...To access a more detailed RG management screen browse to http://192.168.1.254/managementI signed up for the 18 MAX net connection. I get about 17.25 Mbps stable from giganews with no TV's on. 16.1 Mbps with one HD TV on. I think I am going to downgrade to the 12 Mbps speed to save $10 since all I really wanted was that 1.5 Mbps up anyways.Below is a tracert to ncsu.edu, I am travelling through 1 wireless bridge before reaching the RG.Tracing route to ncsu.edu [152.1.226.10]over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 1 ms 1 ms 1 ms 192.168.2.1 2 2 ms 2 ms 1 ms 99-3-64-1.lightspeed.rlghnc.sbcglobal.net [99.3.64.1] 3 26 ms 25 ms 26 ms 99-3-64-2.lightspeed.rlghnc.sbcglobal.net [99.3.64.2] 4 26 ms 30 ms 26 ms 99.134.76.10 5 26 ms 26 ms 26 ms 99.134.77.14 6 27 ms 26 ms 25 ms 99.134.77.8 7 25 ms 25 ms 25 ms 72.157.44.248 8 38 ms 58 ms 38 ms 72.157.44.59 9 38 ms 38 ms 38 ms ixc01int-pos-6-0-0.bellsouth.net [65.83.239.106] 10 38 ms 38 ms 38 ms 12.83.14.190 11 38 ms 38 ms 38 ms axr01asm-1-3-1.bellsouth.net [65.83.237.6] 12 39 ms 38 ms 38 ms 65.83.238.22 13 38 ms 39 ms 39 ms xer01lax-pos-1-0.bellsouth.net [65.83.236.173] 14 39 ms 38 ms 39 ms 205.152.123.66 15 38 ms 39 ms 38 ms 12.83.0.168 16 44 ms 39 ms 38 ms 12.83.0.189 17 39 ms 39 ms 39 ms 65.83.238.174 18 41 ms 40 ms 39 ms cr2.attga.ip.att.net [12.122.140.18] 19 40 ms 43 ms 39 ms ggr7.attga.ip.att.net [12.122.87.153] 20 71 ms 70 ms 73 ms 192.205.35.218 21 78 ms 71 ms 72 ms ae-73-52.ebr3.Atlanta2.Level3.net [4.68.103.62] 22 74 ms 72 ms 71 ms ae-2.ebr1.Washington1.Level3.net [4.69.132.86] 23 69 ms 70 ms 74 ms ae-81-81.csw3.Washington1.Level3.net [4.69.134.138] 24 71 ms 69 ms 70 ms ae-82-82.ebr2.Washington1.Level3.net [4.69.134.153] 25 74 ms 75 ms 74 ms ae-6-6.car2.Raleigh1.Level3.net [4.69.132.177] 26 77 ms 79 ms 80 ms MCNC.car2.Raleigh1.Level3.net [4.71.162.18] 27 75 ms 76 ms 76 ms rtp7600-gw-tg4-2-to-rtp-crs-gw.ncren.net [128.109.9.2] 28 77 ms 77 ms 77 ms ncsu-gw-2-to-rtp7600-gw.ncren.net [128.109.70.46] 29 82 ms 78 ms 77 ms cmdfcore-gi1-13.ncstate.net [152.1.6.77] 30 78 ms 77 ms 77 ms vl2905-dc1-6509-2.ncstate.net [152.1.6.50]Trace complete.Pinging ncsu.edu [152.1.226.10] with 32 bytes of data:Reply from 152.1.226.10: bytes=32 time=78ms TTL=32Reply from 152.1.226.10: bytes=32 time=78ms TTL=32Reply from 152.1.226.10: bytes=32 time=80ms TTL=32Reply from 152.1.226.10: bytes=32 time=78ms TTL=32Ping statistics for 152.1.226.10: Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds: Minimum = 78ms, Maximum = 80ms, Average = 78msI am using OpenDNS on my primary desktop due to all the horrible things I hear about att's. I'm not sure what you need to do it (maybe just log in from your uverse connection?) but has everybody who has uverse made sure they show up on this map? http://www.dslreports.com/gmaps/uverse

I've been having problems with my web host. Anytime I try to ssh it takes ~1 min before the server responds for a password request.Uploading files that are ~4-5kb takes forever and sometimes doesn't go through. (ftp) yet I can open and edit files remotely (ftp) fairly quickly. So I opened a ticket and they asked me to run a traceroute which i did. It appears after hoping from my router i get a bunch of **** for the next 30 hops or so. No info about any of them other than 1 or 2 '*' Anyone have an idea whats going on here? I can access my site just fine (HTTP) and every other site, play online via console, watch tv etc...just seems to be my web host but it can't be an issue with them if my hops are fubar immediately after my router. I'm going to try a reboot of the router or RG(whatever its called) when i get home.
10/12/2009 11:12:37 AM
^I doubt it's relevant to your situation but just out of curiosity does SSH do a FCrDNS check?Check that your current IP is resolving both ways. I had to escalate to a Tier 3 DNS engineer via CenturyLink a couple months back to get mine fixed. Even T2 was swearing I was retarded and demanding I reset the modem. We had similar issues with telnet and https lag, albeit perfect trace routes.

So my U-Verse install went well today except for the fact that I can't disconnect the Time Warner signal to my rented townhouse. Time Warner locked the outside box where all the rooms/units coax terminates and I can't get in to remove their splitter. The complex said that they do not have a key to the box. I noticed that some of the dish installs had run into the box but the AT&T tech didn't have a key. Any tips on getting Time Warner/AT&T to resolve the issue or anybody have a key (normal key not the round one)?
10/19/2009 3:28:15 PM
just cut the line coming in.
10/19/2009 3:38:13 PM
I only have one complaint really with the u-verse service... That damn 3800HGV-B box really sucks.I think that u-verse really missed the boat on having all the router/firewall shit there in the RG instead of just having a "internet" port that you connect a router to for net traffic. If anyone has some tricks to better optimize the RG for large amounts of connections at one time, such as USENET traffic. Can you please reply! For example, having a lot of connections open to giganews causes "connection timeouts" to occur every so often, maybe ever 10 minutes or so...
10/19/2009 3:51:54 PM
I can't get into the junction box outside and every jack terminates to there (all 7 that are in the house)
10/19/2009 3:57:31 PM
Has anyone else been having trouble with the signal lately? My screen will turn bright red (audio continues) for like 10 seconds usually and then go back to normal.
10/20/2009 6:14:13 PM
I've seen that twice recently but that's it
10/20/2009 9:23:39 PM
Nope I have not seen that issue... The only thing that has plagued me is on the DVR box, I will sometimes loose the ability to pause live TV. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Its like the box doesn't record the channel that is currently tuned and sometimes it does. But I did fix my TCP timeout issues. I just removed the Linksys router that I DMZ+ through the 3800hgv-b and just plugged everything directly into the 3800hgv-b. Presto, no more timeouts. Must have been something in the DMZ+ routing that was causing the issue. Since I only have one wired PC connected to the net I really don't care what router its plugged into. But it does suck to loose all the features of DD-WRT cause of this. Also to report I have the Max 18 internet profile, and I get on average 17.3 Mbps to giganews using their accelerator program, and roughly 1.45 Mbps up. This is all while one HD channel is tuned, and if I have 2 HD streams it goes down to about 12.5 Mbps/1.45 Mbps.Anyway, just thought I would let the U-verse TWW community know how my experience is going.
