^ Maybe for some here and elsewhere to realize that there appears to be a pattern at CNN instead of just bitching about FOX News all the time? CNN's Octavia Nasr Leaving Network After Controversial Hezbollah TweetJuly 7, 2010http://www.mediaite.com/tv/breaking-cnns-octavia-nasr-leaving-network-after-controversial-tweetBut this, of course, is self-evident.Hell, why don't we throw in another loon from MSNBC while we're at it:Ed Schultz 'Reprimanded' Over Chris Christie 'Fat Slob' CommentSept. 30, 2010I'll burn the building down. --Ed Schultz aka Milton

I don't think you understand what firing (or causing someone to "leave the network") entails. CNN is disassociating themselves from those comments, meaning that the actions of those former employees do not reflect back on the network (well, they do reflect back if you're a conservative with an axe to grind, but that's your problem, not theirs). As for MSNBC, I'd say Schultz probably deserved more than just a "reprimand", but the network did still publicly condemn his actions. The issue people have with FOX is not just that their employees/TV personalities say or do outrageous or seemingly-crazy things, it's that the network makes little effort to condemn or distance itself from that craziness. A simple example is that it took a LOT of convenient little partisan errors (for example, listing publicly embarrassed or discredited republican politicians as democrats) before the network actually issued a statement saying that errors were not going to be acceptable anymore... And that's an example where the network did eventually correct themselves. There's many more where they simply haven't. Hell, the fact that Glenn Beck still has a show and is still being given a time slot in which to air it is enough of an example.I'm sure there are some liberals that would still accuse Fox of all sorts of shit, even if it were firing or reprimanding its employees, but I'll say the same thing about those hypothetical liberals that I'll say about you: You've (They've) just got an axe to grind and are looking for whatever excuses you (they) can find to take shots at the network, regardless of how unreasonable an argument it makes.

I don't typically watch much cable news but I have recently this election and I have seen basically no left bias. I see all networks praying for a close race. Thus the "Mittmentum" narrative and the pimping of the one poll that makes PA look tire (this was on MSNBC this morning).Seems more ratings driven this term than ideological.
11/5/2012 8:25:07 AM
It's in all media's interest to portray the race as a dead heat, it generates more tension and excitement and thus viewers. On the plus side, it probably drives up turnout too.

CBS News political director's advice for Obama:[quote]The president who came into office speaking in lofty terms about bipartisanship and cooperation can only cement his legacy if he destroys the GOP. If he wants to transform American politics, he must go for the throat. How should the president proceed then, if he wants to be bold? The Barack Obama of the first administration might have approached the task by finding some Republicans to deal with and then start agreeing to some of their demands in hope th

^^lolI'm guessing the main issue is the type of crime she did? Then again I wonder if someone with a drug felony would cause as much of a stir. Maybe a sexual crime of sorts might cause equal outrage. Kinda like if they hired a convicted Priest to teach a religious class. I still haven't heard any coverage in my area about the abortion doctor from Philly. Only thing I could see that might lean more to the bias side of reporting.
4/9/2013 6:30:47 AM
Honestly I think the Mike Rice stuff brings to the surface a broader issue (rampant bigotry, homophobia, and abusiveness in sports culture) whereas the abortion doctor is really just some shitty dude in Philly. While I feel bad for his victims, it's not like this country is plagued by butchers like him, as much as the right would want everyone to believe his portfolio is a representative sample of abortion procedures. One is a national issue, the other is a local one. If you're IN Philly and haven't heard about him, that's a bit weird but seriously who cares about local news these days?[Edited on April 9, 2013 at 11:08 AM. Reason : .]

Would be interesting to know if she has kids of her own or is just a professor at Tulane. Its an extreme view from a promo, but it served its purpose to get people talking about her show. I didn't watch it so don't know what side of the issue she actually took.

even if she does have kids, she doesn't really have them

Because I care about what quote-mining polemics think.
4/9/2013 12:54:28 PM
I don't think it's extreme to suggest that children, while under stewardship of their parents, are not owned by their parents and should have rights and entitlements beyond those at the discretion of their parents. In short: Just because a kid has shitty parents shouldn't be a drag on their entire future. That's just my generous reading, though, but hey it could very well be that this woman is a Maoist revolutionary trying to snatch children from parents and make them live in Dickensian orphanage-indoctrination centers (which she will slyly call SCHOOLS).

Str8Foolish - Taking the abortion factor out of it, it reminds me of a serial killer type of crime. Especially with keeping parts in jars. I figure with folks like Dahmer, Bundy or Angelo (Angel of Death guy) Gosnell would have fit in with them in the news. I just figured this fit into the serial killer world of news instead of a right to life world
