You will have to pay about $30(?) to get a loaner iPhone while your current one is out for repairs. I am assuming it's been more than 2 weeks since you bought yours.

yes its been about a month. How long is the warranty?I was just checking the iSkin Revo. I might just have to get that...looks great and seems to protect every part of the iphone very well.[Edited on August 29, 2007 at 1:38 PM. Reason : ...]

If you're getting a case just to project the screen, it's useless. The screen is made of high quality optic glass and you have to try hard with sandpaper to scratch it.^ Warranty is a year, and standard phone support is free for 2 years. After 14 days of purchase, though, you will need to send it in for warranty repairs. No in-store replacement.[Edited on August 29, 2007 at 1:39 PM. Reason : .]

getting it for the body...mainly the back and sides so they don't get scratched up. When it comes time for a new iphone i want this one to be still looking brand new when i give it to one of my friends.ok so i went in the store and they said to call up apple and they send me a new one and put the old one in the box...is that just sales man talk for i don't want to help you? Cause he wasn't very clear on if the new one is a loaner or a replacement.[Edited on August 29, 2007 at 1:41 PM. Reason : fda]

yea i've managed to crack the screen on mine already..it still works, and it took a fairly violent throw against a wall from a pissed off female (twice) to do anything to the screen. even now it isn't scratched, but has some cracks lol[Edited on August 29, 2007 at 1:41 PM. Reason : p]
8/29/2007 1:40:51 PM
trust me...it doesn't get scratched up without a cover.I keep mine in my pocket along with my wallet+coins, and have no scratches.
8/29/2007 1:41:14 PM
Jesus, which female did you piss off that bad?
8/29/2007 1:41:41 PM
the body on mine has gotten scratched up a fair bit just from being in my pocket[Edited on August 29, 2007 at 1:42 PM. Reason : x-gf, saw a text message about staying the night with another girl.. lol oops]
8/29/2007 1:42:06 PM

she's an ex-gf. What are you doing showing her your phone...let alone being in the same room with her
8/29/2007 1:46:01 PM
Everyone wants an iPhone. I went to a big dinner meet with people working for my dad's company, and suddenly my iPhone was being passed around like a lab specimen.
8/29/2007 1:47:15 PM
she wasn't an ex at the time and everybody was playing with the phone cause it was the first one they had seen and the text popped up.. but yes gargs, have at it lol
8/29/2007 1:47:29 PM

8/29/2007 1:49:59 PM
Too much work...I would rather watch Youtube videos on my iPhone.
8/29/2007 1:50:56 PM
tru, tru
8/29/2007 1:51:30 PM
^^ quality seems to suck on those (the few i've viewed), but i guess its better than nothing...
8/29/2007 1:55:25 PM
quality sucks on purpose when you are streaming over edge. When you stream the same video over wi-fi its like watching a HD movie in comparison.
8/29/2007 1:56:12 PM
^^^you mean the 2 year old ones that were handpicked to be converted JUST for the iphone?
8/29/2007 1:57:42 PM
You'll watch Youtube videos only for a while until the novelty wears off...my first 2 weeks, I downloded about 90MB of data...right now I am at 115MB total after 2 months. Who the hell watches Youtube videos while driving?
8/29/2007 1:58:25 PM
they've converted a ton more videos already. Supposed to have all the videos done by this fall.
8/29/2007 1:58:27 PM

here we go again. First it is a quality phone second GSM >>> CDMA I like being able to switch phones on the fly, transfer my contacts to my PC via bluetooth. Being able to go out of the country (which i do frequently) and take my phone with me...and then selling it there and buying something else that you can't find in the US.I have no reception problems any where I go in the US with GSM except at a lake i went to 2 weeks ago but even the verizon and sprint users with us had no reception.[Edited on August 29, 2007 at 2:01 PM. You have been ranting about GSM and raving about some CDMA shit since ever. Good luck traveling out of this country. And I dunno about your service, but Verizon sucks in my area.
8/29/2007 2:00:43 PM
wait for the big guns when someone calls us GSM fanboys.

iphone noob question:you can use ipod charges/docks for the iphone right?...or does it have to be made specifically for the iphone? are all the chargers/accessories good for either device? any particular manufacturers to stick with when buying ipod/iphone accessories (griffen, belkin etc)?
8/29/2007 4:56:28 PM
ok kidFive Reasons why GSM is better than CDMA:1. CDMA is proprietary. GSM is an open standards. Open means more innovation.2. CDMA chips are mostly manufactured by ONE company. Others have to license the technology for $$$, which is why they're expensive and less innovative.3. CDMA phones are tied to a single carrier. GSM phones have a SIM card which could be used by anyone for any carrier.4. GSM has a better sound quality. CDMA's call quality depends on network utilization.5. A GSM network is in the technical sense, more intelligent than a CDMA network. GSM provides for far more efficient handshaking processes.6. GSM's global customer base is more than 10 times that of CDMA. You're better off arguing whether Betamax was better than VHS.7. GSM phones have higher talk times and smaller antennas.I have traveled a lot inside US, and never had bad experiences with GSM service. Surely, something must be going in my favor.

I mean it's pretty funny when he argues about technical advantages and yet thinks that there's some analog version of CDMA out there. There is no such thing as analog CDMA. It's a digital technology. The analog signal is from the older AMPS deployment that even Cingular/ATT has had in place since eternity as well. If you're getting an analog signal, it means you AREN'T getting CDMA coverage. Think again a few times the next time you want to get technical about something you know nothing about.
8/29/2007 11:47:10 PM
so can i pop my sim card in and out of the iphone just like any other phone? is all i need a paperclip and put it in that cover thing on the top of the phone?
8/31/2007 8:12:37 PM
someone buy my iphone plzhttp://raleigh.craigslist.org/ele/411813105.html

WIDEBAND CDMA OK.
9/2/2007 12:05:46 PM
is there any way to replace the screen on mine??
9/2/2007 12:06:40 PM

9/2/2007 8:43:26 PM
god im glad gargs is gone. And CDMA is so vastly superior to GSM in the US it's not even a debate. Unless you are a constant foreign traveler (like Golovko) there is absolutely no debate as to the superior network.
9/2/2007 9:14:24 PM
9/2/2007 9:22:34 PM
what do you guys think of call quality on this thing? i know at&t, given that its an all digital network, is more prone to dropped calls than verizon/sprint etc, but it seems like i'm dropping more calls with this iphone than i did with my old phones (almost all sony ericssons) on the exact same network. my call will drop, then 2 seconds later BAM I have 4-5 bars. shits annoying....starting to remind me of the old days with bellsouth/cingular.
9/3/2007 5:44:28 PM
FYI-Sprint and Verizon won't be having analog signals for much longer. The national analog network was already supposed to have been disabled.
9/3/2007 9:18:02 PM
^if/when that happens, ill probably bite the bullet over to a GSM carrier.
9/3/2007 10:56:31 PM
If anyone has been wanting an iPhone because of the screen, but couldn't justify it...the new iPods, being released/announced today, are rumored to be, essentially, phone-less iPhones.
