ive heard that they found WMDs.

You mean just like during the bball search that lasted another 3 weeks after all the "chatter" was flying around about everyone we were going to hire?Keep drinking the Kool Aid people.

im more of a tang man, myself.

For those not reading the Jimbo Fisher thread, Fisher's out of the running per David Glenn's blog.http://html.wral.com/sh/blogger/wralglenn.html

tom o'brien is pushing HARD to get out of BC, if i had to put money on somebody coming here, as of now, it'd be him
12/6/2006 1:15:17 PM
^ Do you really think they will hire a fellow ACC coach for the NC State coaching position...I don't think that will sit well with the big boosters and Murphy having an ACC coach that was tryin' to beat us at home just a year ago....[Edited on December 6, 2006 at 1:24 PM. Reason : .]

Did you see Arkansas this year?Nutt still is overrated, this is the only good year he has had.
12/6/2006 1:28:07 PM
^^^hell yes they'd hire an acc coachi'd like to think that wendell murphy is smarter/more mature than that. not only is boston college not a rival(at all), they've only been in the conference for 2 years. its not like we're trying to hire butch davis away from carolina.o'brien is a good coach who i think would thrive here[Edited on December 6, 2006 at 1:29 PM. I think O'Brien would be a great choice.
12/6/2006 1:51:24 PM
Does it bother anyone else that they are expecting to have a coach hired by the end of the week and we havent talked to PJ.What is fowler actually doing???Its one thing to talk behind the seens with coaches, but to say that they want a decision by the end of the week with the current situation seems odd.
12/6/2006 1:51:41 PM
It's Cowher, duh. Seriously, none of us know what is going on. And they said they EXPECTED to have a coach hired.

I think I would take O'Brien over JohnsonHe wins in the ACC at a small jesuit catholic school where nobody gives a fuck about college sportsI think he would do well being top dog here

The removing of Fisher saddens me greatly. I hope that isn't legit and is just speculation.

Chow has taken his name out of the running, per ESPN.comThen again, did any of us really believe we would get a first, or second, or third ... choice ?
12/6/2006 2:22:26 PM
was he even one of our top choices? it never sounded like he was.[Edited on December 6, 2006 at 2:23 PM. Reason : d]
12/6/2006 2:23:05 PM
Maybe not. Just that a lot of fans had hoped for a big name guy as opposed to someone who excelled at a smaller school or in a non-head coaching position in college only, while in the back of their head knowing it was not going to happen. That possibility looks dead now. Doesn't mean we won't get a good coach ... yet.
12/6/2006 2:25:28 PM
12/6/2006 2:25:49 PM
^^^Don't think so. Chow was almost too old to have no HC experience. I guess our admins felt the same way.About the time he learned the ins-n-outs of head coaching and built a program he'd be retiring[Edited on December 6, 2006 at 2:26 PM. Reason : ]

12/6/2006 2:36:52 PM

Paul Johnson FTW

some interesting reading, but if this is true I won't be all that happy. I want Johnson, but O'Brien wouldn't be bad I guess
12/6/2006 3:18:28 PM
I don't know if O'Brian would be a better situation than PJ from what I've read so far...But who knows...
12/6/2006 3:30:06 PM
either way a good situation, if you ask me.
12/6/2006 3:31:32 PM
I definitely don't think he would be any betterThere is a reason that there are a ton of BC fans don't really care if he leaves. Go look at their message boards. They are almost hoping he comes here. Seems interesting to me that they hate a coach that is going 8-4 and 9-3. If we don't get Paul Johnson I promise you we will regret it.

BC goes 8-4, 9-3 with less talent in the same conference. he's not don shula.. but i wouldn't be at all upset to have him.paul johnson does well, but he's untested in bcs play, TOB is proven, more or less.
12/6/2006 3:36:42 PM
^^are you actually going to listen to a message board when determining how good a coach is?
12/6/2006 3:40:38 PM
when it is a coach that wins 8-9 games every year and their fanbase is praying he leaves, then i think that should hold some merit
12/6/2006 3:45:13 PM
wonder why the BC fans on that board are eager to get rid of him?
12/6/2006 3:46:09 PM

haha...i almost said that
12/6/2006 3:49:22 PM
^^^^they must be suffering from their own case of PRivers-itusthey've had a few good years and actually think they can morph into a perennial top 10 powerhouse and are upset with just 8-9 wins a year...[Edited on December 6, 2006 at 3:49 PM. Reason : .]
12/6/2006 3:49:36 PM
im just not interested in TOB as our coachi think i had rather have PJim just not excited about this coaching search
12/6/2006 3:50:16 PM
^^^^^go look at the thread...there isn't one person sticking up for him in any thread on there about him coming herei am not just picking out a select few postsi think he would win here, i am not trying to say he wouldn't. But if what we want is an ACC Championship then I believe he is the wrong guy. The excitement would be great when we went to that first peach bowl and went 9-3, but it wouldn't be all that high when we went to our fourth peach bowl in a row[Edited on December 6, 2006 at 3:51 PM.
