Reached Sunday afternoon at his home, N.C. State offensive coordinator Marc Trestman said he didn’t know anything about Amato or anyone on the staff being fired and that there was a recruiting meeting scheduled for later in the evening.

The loss to ECU at Carter-Finley Stadium was a microcosm of the Pack’s on-the-field problems the last few years: State was called for undisciplined personal fouls and other penalties, and curious play-calling and a lack of execution led to another close defeat.

Of the Wolfpack’s nine losses this season, the most for a State team since 1959, seven were by eight or fewer points.

“It’s obvious I, as well as others, are disappointed it turned out this way,” Wolfpack Club president Mac Campbell said tonight."

Amato Will Not Return to Wolfpack (Updated 9:15pm)

The News & Observer is reporting that a public statement regarding the future of N.C. State football coach Chuck Amato’s will be announced tonight, but at this point there is little reason to wait.

The NC State Football team was called for a team meeting tonight at 9pm at the Murphy Center to be officially told the news that at this point is merely a formality.

The News & Observer, ESPN, and other local media sources are all reporting the unsurprising news that Chuck Amato will not return as head coach of NC State’s football program in 2007.

it means they finally wised up and went with the same firm that got Spurrier to SC, Urban to Florida, Butch to UNC and other huge names...this was the BEST move that the BOT could have made in regards to this.
