hopefully this w00t off doesn't suck as much as the last oneyou'd think they'd have the server issues figured out by this point
3/27/2008 8:29:54 AM
3/27/2008 8:32:30 AM
I don't suppose anyone else is having memory leak issues with firefox and the woot page? I've had to restart firefox 3 times this morning because firefox is leaking memory like a sieve. And the only page I have open that's not "normal" is woot.
3/27/2008 11:46:43 AM
fine here
3/27/2008 2:18:01 PM
grrr.
3/27/2008 2:21:06 PM
the same thing here chip - not related to woot i don't think though
3/27/2008 2:47:16 PM
no, I've narrowed it down to "not woot"also not a lot of other stuff. I've got the problem narrowed down to either gmail or TWW actually.[Edited on March 27, 2008 at 3:03 PM. Reason : or a plug-in perhaps. ]
3/27/2008 3:03:30 PM
i wonder if they just had the BOCi'm getting Server Is Busy...
3/27/2008 3:06:19 PM
I was approaching 700MB on firefox too, could be TWW. restarted and have been ok so far.[Edited on March 27, 2008 at 3:06 PM. Reason : Server is too busy]
3/27/2008 3:06:30 PM
wootwatcher plugin?
3/27/2008 3:12:37 PM
^testing that theory now
3/27/2008 3:13:34 PM
I've been running firefox with no windows open for the last hour and I'm not seeing memory usage increase.I had that thought too, but I don't think it's the wootwatcher plugin. Although this is the first woot-off since I upgraded it, so it was in my mind as a possibility.
3/27/2008 3:14:51 PM
my first woot off with the new plugin as well...
3/27/2008 3:16:39 PM
woot watcher may be the problem, went from 35-50% cpu usage to 10-15%, half as much memory footprint when restarted...
3/27/2008 3:19:40 PM
how hard can it really be to not have a memory leak in a plugin as simple as a woot watcher
3/27/2008 3:20:49 PM
either i didnt notice or it changed since the last woot-off, i went two woot-offs with no problems
3/27/2008 3:22:07 PM
What's this plugin do?
3/27/2008 3:23:22 PM
it was recently updated/upgraded - i remember firefox prompting me to install the new version not too long agothe woot watcher - watches woot ]]
3/27/2008 3:24:32 PM
man talk about a woot off killer. who in the hell wants a headset phone
3/27/2008 3:26:36 PM
oh sweet a headset phone
3/27/2008 3:37:41 PM

3/27/2008 3:38:22 PM

3/27/2008 3:39:17 PM
heh. they changed the price from $99 to $89 but didn't change the picture.
3/27/2008 3:42:38 PM
3/27/2008 3:59:12 PM
I emailed the guy that made the wootwatcher plugin about the possible memory leak. Here's his reply:
3/27/2008 4:00:53 PM
wow, it's still going on...two days
3/28/2008 9:14:53 AM
NUTS?
3/28/2008 9:18:16 AM
i bought a helicopter
3/28/2008 9:59:21 AM
anything worthwhile for this woot off? the last one i saw sucked major ass
3/28/2008 10:16:16 AM
i tried using woot watcher for about an hour...and it basically made my firefox stop working. ff was "only" using around 100MB of memory at the time, but was locking up/being real slow. too bad, woot watcher looks like exactly what ive been looking for]
