hopefully this w00t off doesn't suck as much as the last one
you'd think they'd have the server issues figured out by this point

""If Woot really wanted to handle BOC's effortlessly" is the key point this discussion. The mystique of a BOC is challenge of wading through a sea of server errors to gain a prize that may be totally worthless. If you could order a BOC as easily as any normal woot the focus would shift from the chase for the prize to the value of the prize itself. The stated value of a BOC is crap. Why order crap for the sake of getting crap. It's all about the chase!"

I don't suppose anyone else is having memory leak issues with firefox and the woot page?

I've had to restart firefox 3 times this morning because firefox is leaking memory like a sieve. And the only page I have open that's not "normal" is woot.

no, I've narrowed it down to "not woot"

also not a lot of other stuff. I've got the problem narrowed down to either gmail or TWW actually.

I've been running firefox with no windows open for the last hour and I'm not seeing memory usage increase.

I had that thought too, but I don't think it's the wootwatcher plugin. Although this is the first woot-off since I upgraded it, so it was in my mind as a possibility.

woot watcher may be the problem, went from 35-50% cpu usage to 10-15%, half as much memory footprint when restarted...

how hard can it really be to not have a memory leak in a plugin as simple as a woot watcher

I emailed the guy that made the wootwatcher plugin about the possible memory leak. Here's his reply:

Quote :
"Its actually a problem with multiple copies of the job running when it runs often. I fixed it, 1.0.2 is in the sandbox waiting for approval, you can also just up the interval for wootoffs.

i tried using woot watcher for about an hour...and it basically made my firefox stop working. ff was "only" using around 100MB of memory at the time, but was locking up/being real slow. too bad, woot watcher looks like exactly what ive been looking for
