Ice cream sandwich rumors... some dude on 4chan posted some shit... but it's 4 Chan. However, its all entirely reasonable... except ti said omap4 will be the next nexus processor. This guy claimed it was an exynos. Possibility that he was in error, or its bullshit, or Verizon isn't getting an official nexus.Droid-life (more commentary and a distilled version): http://www.droid-life.com/2011/09/16/mega-rumor-details-of-the-galaxy-nexus-ice-cream-sandwich-as-2-4-and-galaxy-siii-revealed/Phandroid (4chan copy pasta below): http://phandroid.com/2011/09/16/anonymous-4chan-user-posts-hands-on-time-with-the-samsung-nexus-prime/

I will disavow Verizon completely if they miss on the Nexus Prime, I'm still angry about the Galaxy SII
9/17/2011 12:22:42 AM
I just hate that this shit was on 4chan, because their track record tends to be spectacular.

NCSUMEB-I figured out your Hotmail issue-you have to use corporate email/ms exchange. I made up a Hotmail account and had it on my Moto Xprt in about 5 minutes...

Going to Sprint.Motorola Photon or Samsung Galaxy SII? And why?Go!
9/20/2011 7:55:05 PM
Galaxy S 2 for bigger, brighter screen.Unless you plan on traveling outside of America a lot since the Photon has a crapload of radios.
9/20/2011 8:01:36 PM
Oh, and what's the cheapest way to connect these phones to an old ass CRT TV that only has RCA, Component, or Coax inputs?
9/20/2011 11:24:44 PM
HDMI-to-buy a new tv.
9/20/2011 11:30:12 PM
I did...This is my old TV that I put at Lake Gaston as an upgrade to the 1992 CRT I had been using.

^ The reviews on that are awesome, lol
9/21/2011 12:44:09 AM
I know, couldnt resist posting it I saw some converter boxes but they did rgb component video
9/21/2011 12:48:22 AM
I've seen some converters for like $50.At that price I might as well just pay a crackhead to steal a TV for me.
9/21/2011 12:51:55 AM
2.3.7 for Nexus S speeds up a lot of things. I like it.Can't wait to try Wallet out too. Free $10 ftw.
9/21/2011 4:31:31 PM
9/21/2011 4:35:47 PM
If i remember correctly, thats not entirely true... the screens Samsung uses are indeed pentile, however this technology shares a green pixel, as opposed to adding an additional shared white.
9/21/2011 6:43:15 PM
anyone know of an app that will allow me to mark locations in the google maps app? it's stupid that they don't allow you to simply mark a location (not necessarily an address)...looks like google had realized this and started on the "my maps editor" project (it's no longer available), but i was able to find it and i downloaded it...it doesn't seem to work with the latest maps app
9/22/2011 9:57:38 AM
pentile lcd vs. super amoled plus...
9/22/2011 11:51:02 AM
just used google wallet at mcdonalds this morning, with my free $10.the cashier was all like it was sweet. can't wait until that kind of payment is everywhere

So I am deciding between a Galaxy Tab and Xoom. I can get the Xoom for a good bit less from what I have seen and most reviews have pointed me to the Xoom rather than the Galaxy, but the reviews I have read are a bit dated.Which tab do you guys feel is better? My understanding is that the Xoom is a more PC like experience which is a plus for me....thoughts?
9/22/2011 1:55:51 PM
The old Galaxy Tab or the newer 10.1?
9/22/2011 2:23:54 PM
Quagmire... star a location as a favorite. Places, addresses, etc. On the map all your starred locations are displayed
9/22/2011 2:32:27 PM
^ i tried that, and it works for starring locations that have addresses or show up as a place, but i can't do it for "fake" roadsfor example, i was at one of our research stations yesterday and there are a series of roads that get you there...they show up on google maps, but they don't have names...i can't star themeven better if i could star GPS coordinates
9/22/2011 2:46:03 PM
Try starring them on the web version?
9/22/2011 2:57:17 PM
^ i haven't tried it via the android browser, but i'm sure that would work...of course, it defeats the purpose of having the app
9/22/2011 2:59:01 PM
I was thinking more of on a PC... are you looking to star them when you are at the place, or to help you find it when you're heading out?You could use the app "my tracks" by google. You can record your path, and also set way points. Also, you can upload the map into Google for viewing or editing on a PC.
9/22/2011 3:56:57 PM
9/22/2011 4:13:22 PM
i think your best case is my tracks, and upload those to google, then screw around with it on a pc.i think my tracks should have been integrated with maps and navigation long ago.
9/22/2011 4:21:28 PM
Fuck I want google wallet. I might actually sell my evo3d and buy a nexus s
9/22/2011 5:25:03 PM
any way to force the Nexus S to update to 2.3.7? it will check in, but doesn't update anythingi want google wallet
9/22/2011 8:02:06 PM
Gotta have the right kind of card for it, though...I don't know if I'd use it... my amex already has express pay in it. I love it.
9/22/2011 11:55:30 PM
So I have the Galaxy SII now...is there any way to easily backup my apps and app data from my Evo and transfer to the Galaxy? If it matters, the Evo is rooted, but I do not plan to root the Galaxy just yet.
9/23/2011 12:45:54 PM
I would probably use AppBrain in that situation to avoid anything transferring over from Sense. If you want/need all the settings transferred as well, then you can use Titanium Backup and selectively backup only the apps that do not depend on HTC framework.Someone may correct that and there very well may be a much more efficient way to tell Titanium what to backup but I've only ever used the batch > system+apps function.
9/23/2011 12:59:58 PM
Titanium requires root
9/23/2011 1:27:11 PM
9/23/2011 1:31:41 PM
yeah, you'll need to root the Galaxy SII in order to restore any app data since all of those apps require root access afaik.
9/23/2011 1:31:56 PM
Oh yeah true I just overlooked that. Looks like you should just root it then.
9/23/2011 1:40:22 PM
I will probably eventually attempt rooting it, but I wanted to put that off for awhile. My Evo is rooted and runs like a dog more often than not...the two probably arent related, but I want to try to stay stock until I absolutely need it just to see how it performs. Outside of text messages and call logs (which I have apps for backing up), the only data I think I need to backup are bookmarks and game saves...I assume I will be able to redownload paid apps without being charged again.
9/23/2011 2:19:56 PM
it looks like "uber bamf" was/is the beta successor to "das bamf" and "bamf forever" is the "real" thing...downloading now and we'll see how it goes
9/24/2011 11:06:30 AM
lol. You're a little late to the party on that one. BAMF SoaB and Sense 3.5 is where it's at now.
9/24/2011 5:10:15 PM
WHY DON'T YOU TELL ME THESE THINGS, THEN? well, i think i may stick with a non-beta for a while...i'm enjoying the (relative) lack of quirks [Edited on September 24, 2011 at 6:13 PM. Reason : .]

Anyone using the Galaxy Tab 10.1? I'm an iPad guy but there's several limitations to iOS that I don't care for and it seems that the 10.1 is getting awesome reviews as the main tablet to compete with the iPad. I'd love to hear some owners' thoughts/opinions. Also, is it possible to browse the Android App store JUST for tablet/3.1 apps?
9/24/2011 7:21:33 PM
Looks like Verizon and HTC are finally close to pushing out Gingerbread to the Thunderbolt.http://www.droid-life.com/2011/09/27/finally-the-htc-thunderbolt-gingerbread-update-appears-to-be-ready-as-build-2-11-605-3/
9/27/2011 1:50:30 PM
^^unfortunately, no. "staff tablet picks" or something is as good as it gets... and this low count of 75ish is often what gets cited as the total number of tablet apps there are. there's no real way to view just honeycomb optimized apps, to my knowledge

ICS Accouncement- Oct 11 @ 2:30pmhttp://www.droid-life.com/2011/09/28/google-and-samsung-team-up-for-ctia-event-time-to-find-out-what-is-next-in-android/ICS on a Nexus S from ebay. 9/29/2011 8:35:14 AM
so will the Nexus S get ICS?
9/29/2011 11:17:29 AM
don't see why it wouldn't
9/29/2011 2:02:11 PM
It might take a couple months, but it should
9/29/2011 3:46:02 PM
+1 for Google Wallet on the Nexus S 4g - works completely as advertised. Dude at the store (Kangaroo) was like "Man, I love me some smartphones"

Question:Anyone know if any of the ATT android phones have micro-sim which I could swap between my iphone4 and android device? Need to know if a) it has a micro-sim and b) does ATT do anything that would keep it from being able to be used on the iphone4.---------------------------------------------Background:I currently have a iphone4 on my family plan.I am adding getting a paid corporate phone, whenever I decide to activate it. I do have to pay for the device (at discount) but the service charges are free. With that said, I dabble in mobile development, and would like to keep using my iPhone 4 as my main phone (on the corporate line). I want to have an android phone that I can just turn on when I want to do testing / change of pace every now and then. I would use it mostly for wifi, I expect. Thanks!
