Page 128 was fucking retarded. Again, any news on avrcp support in 4.0?

^ Take the layers away from the substandard developers. Solves the problem of overpopulated crappy fart (ha) and RSS feed apps.
4/11/2010 12:27:09 AM
sureshow me a way to take them away from just the sub-standard developers without hindering the good ones?[Edited on April 11, 2010 at 12:29 AM. Reason : I mean why the fuck have a review process?]
4/11/2010 12:28:41 AM
[shrug] their garden... i guess they're allowed to pull out whatever they don't want growing in it.while i know this is just a hypothetical, i can imagine press coverage being much worse if apple decided to let devs have a free-for-all with apps.people have suggested that apple just publish a set of guidelines for what they'll approve, but people will bitch about those, too.
4/11/2010 12:35:14 AM
Opera Mini just got approved. It's already available in some countries but not the US just yet. Should be any time now. That's one app that everyone said would never be approved. Should be interesting to check out.[Edited on April 12, 2010 at 9:11 PM. Reason : Firefox mobile next plz]
4/12/2010 9:10:44 PM
Hmm...The fixed zoom settings aren't great. Seems to have two zoom options. Too small to read:and a little bit bigger than I'd prefer: Oh, nevermind, it zooms to fit with a single touch to whatever column you want. Not bad. Still not sure it's as intuitive as Safari.nevermind the nevermind, it still seems to have only two zoom levels. Hmm..[Edited on April 12, 2010 at 9:33 PM. Reason : Firefox mobile next plz]
4/12/2010 9:24:48 PM
I wonder if this means they're finally going to loosen some of the "duplicates functionality" restrictions.I mean, they're allowing devs access to the photo, music, and video libraries in the 4.0 SDK right? Now they're approving another web browser (although, to be fair Opera has gone out of their way to point out that Opera Mini functions in a very very different way than Safari does). What's next, reconsidering the Google Voice app?
4/12/2010 10:16:00 PM
^^ no pinch to zoom? And is there a way to set it as the default browser? like for email links and stuff?
4/12/2010 10:22:42 PM
nope, no pinch to zoom. And the scrolling is just...different. I'm not ready to say worse yet, but it's not giving me a great first impression. As far as I can tell, there's no way to make anything but safari the default browser. Could probably be done by hacking something, but I certainly wouldn't know where to look for that.well, you can pinch to zoom, but it just goes between those two zoom levels. [Edited on April 12, 2010 at 10:26 PM. Reason : yep]
4/12/2010 10:25:23 PM
How fast is it compared to Safari?
4/12/2010 10:43:29 PM
Is it still there? Just searched for it on my iPad... No luck.
4/12/2010 11:09:02 PM
I just did a search for it and it showed up. I dunno. sometimes these things trickle in at different times. Rendering wise it doesn't really seem to be any faster than safari to me. I didn't do any tests, but I really wasn't just blown away with it's speed or anything. All in all, I'm not really that impressed. But I am glad that it's there just because it's another option, and it means we might get to see even more options in the future.
4/13/2010 12:47:48 AM
Just downloaded it this morning, I like it and don't.It's faster, noticebly faster. But it's not going to break any records. The spellchecker doesn't function in it, which can be annoying if you're not an iPhone typing pro. Im on the fence about that since i have a love-hate relationship with the spellchecker. Also, you can't tap the top of the screen to get the page to auto-scroll to the top. It's ok, once I set it to fullscreen mode so the taskbar didn't clog the page it became a lit more functional. I'll probably usr it as my default browser until either the lack of spellchecker becomes irritating or I become a better phone typist.[Edited on April 13, 2010 at 7:05 AM. Reason : cuz]
4/13/2010 7:03:20 AM
no spellcheck?!?! what the fuck?!???that plus the no tapping to get to the top of the page thing and the fucked up zoom, might be a deal breaker for me.seriously, what the fuck are they thinking?
4/13/2010 8:21:23 AM
seriously, what the duck are they thinking?
4/13/2010 8:29:54 AM
They probably wanted to get it out before 4.0 hits and renders it an illegal app
4/13/2010 8:32:12 AM
Dropped my iPhone yesterday...couple scratches and some of the seal broke but still works.
4/13/2010 8:50:07 AM
^ that's nothing. I think I own the title of having the most damaged iphone that still works. Speaking of which, any rumors of a new iphone coming out this summer? don't want to buy a 3GS if something new is around the corner.
4/13/2010 9:11:57 AM
i assure you had i had you beat at one point hold on lemme see if i have some picsand yea a new one is supposedly coming out in the next 3 months[Edited on April 13, 2010 at 9:29 AM. Reason : yes, that's tape holding the bottom black cover on]
4/13/2010 9:18:00 AM
nice
4/13/2010 9:35:28 AM
Golovko holds the record for "most fucked up screen I've ever seen still work".
4/13/2010 9:39:04 AM
^^^hahahaha, nice. My screen is actually slightly worse, but i think the tape and what looks like the result of taking a belt sander to the back has me beat.
4/13/2010 9:41:33 AM
i didn't keep that one long so i can't take much credit. i busted the screen the second day of owning the very first iphone though but it lasted another year before i drunkenly dropped it in a mud puddle in Detroit.. didn't work after that.since then i've taken pretty good care of them

anyone having trouble accessing the 3g network today?I've been getting full bars on Edge all day today (only around the cameron village area)- no 3g
4/13/2010 6:47:48 PM
^One of my coworkers was having that problem earlier today.
4/13/2010 9:27:10 PM
WolframAlpha is down to $1.99 now from $50
4/13/2010 11:19:43 PM
^^it's back... I had full Edge service all day yesterday, but now I'm back to 3gI haven't read any of yalls posts on it (will do in a second) but do you know of a way to reply on tww while using Opera mini? For me, it just reloads the "post reply" page every time I hit post reply
4/14/2010 7:21:59 AM
I haven't had any problem, in fact most of my replies yesterday were done from Opera Mini. I just clicked Reply to Topic and touched Post Reply when ready.Sometimes you need to double tap it, I've hit the same problem with Safari at times.I think message boards are one of the areas where Opera is actually superior to Safari. Seeing everything stacked linearly made it much easier to read (although there is a bit of a learning curve). There are a few pluses I've discovered. Opera Sync works very well, being able to select the search I use is a nice feature, the tab system works better than switching windows, and the start up page is nicer than waiting for Safari to load the last bookmark folder I'd used (particularly since I mainly use the phone browser for only 3 webpages).I still haven't been in an Edge area to test and see if it makes using the internet more tolerable, but I'm sure I'll be in New Bern next week to see.

Well if this goes through, then it means double tapping post reply worked. Otherwise you arent seeing this so poo on Opera
4/14/2010 12:34:53 PM
Lol double post. Guess it is working for me now[Edited on April 14, 2010 at 12:36 PM. Reason : oops]
it also means it goes through twice. so maybe a single tap?
4/14/2010 12:36:00 PM
Well it wasnt working for me at all last night/earlier this morning (see earlier posts) so i figured i would try dudes adviceIt is obviously working at normal capacity now, and i see/realize this, so smugness can cease
4/14/2010 12:39:04 PM
Honestly i think the double tapping thing is just a factor of my thumbs. I tend to swipe-and-tap whih doesn't always register.
4/14/2010 12:49:53 PM
^^I was just kidding...i had read the earlier posts before
