Not gung-ho about the women being underpaid. I am happy for them.

I believe in a society where people make sense of numbers and not public persuasion. And as it stands... the women's champions should not make as much as the men's.

That is fine. But the US men aren't even sniffing a championship. So not sure what men's WC champ salaries have to do with US men salaries.

the women are complaining/suing because the men's WC champions make more, and bc the men's WC teams make more for each game that they win compared to the women.

you WTF'd earlier about my "they have to start somewhere" comment. maybe they are just pissed because they don't routinely lose soccer games like their male counterparts and want a raise? Why the fuck are you hating on someone trying to get a raise? You shouldn't try to prevent people from earning money, nobody likes that.

Went looking in the ESPNFC writeup for the inevitable coach comment that any game on the road in CONCACAF shouldn't be an assumed win, and yep there was one.

"It was never going to be easy and come here and win the game. There was no way."

Always gotta go into Canada, Guatemala, El Salvador, etc. just hoping for a draw at best!

I still maintain that Berhalter is not the answer, unfortunately Earnie Stewart's boss is now Greg's brother. So they are not going to make a change.

The problem is the players have obviously not bought into his tactics, there was no creativity in the attack last night and a majority of players seemed to be just going through the motions

It's almost like US Soccer has regressed. I don't get it. We still have players in the pros in Europe and the USA. Some of them are pretty good too. We aren't a college all star team like in the past.

I told you guys this would happen. If you pay someone a top salary regardless of poor performance, then there is much less incentive to perform well. There already is little to no social shame in losing at soccer in this country so when, in terms of pay, they are thrust well above their counterparts who are the best in the world, for losing, why bust your ass to win?

The salary structure they have now should be more incentivized on winning and there should be reverse incentive placed on losing.

Tab Ramos took Houston Dynamo head coach job.

Apparently he'd been stripped of most of his roles at USSF recently other than head coach of the U-20s, and his attacking and pressing style was probably at odds with our recent play out the back style we're miserably executing at the senior level. This federation is in absolute shambles right now.

No Pulisic or Steffen for this International Break. No Bradley either for what its worth though he has been a liability of late.

Glad we got revenge on Canada. Surprisingly McKennie didn’t do anything in the game. Jordan Morris did well in the 1st half.

Honestly its sad that this had to be a revenge game.

Still have some concerns about the tactics and lineups and playing to our strengths.

That court filing was wild. Their defense in a discrimination case was that men had "more responsibility" than women. Imagine being that blind of your own bias.

They also claim they should pay the men more because men's tournaments pay out more than women's. So since FIFA pays women less it's ok for USA soccer to pay women less.

Soccer is so dumb.

I really was nuts.

Fans throwing and hitting/injuring players on the field with bottles/trash
Fan running out on the field
Game stoppage due to homophobic chants
Goalie getting injured and having to be subbed out
PKs for each team in Extra Time (Captain America scoring one and Horvath with the monster save!)
Mexican coach getting a red card for putting hands on the ref during VAR review
Fan getting run down by security behind the TV announcers

THREE var's, all resulting in a major changed decision (two penalties given and one disallowed goal)

Also the fastest goal scored against USA ever

US Reserve Squad vs Mexico A/B Squad Gold Cup Final

Its great that Qatar got to see how truly shitty CONCACAF Referees are, really gave them the whole experience.

The level of dissent that the referee allowed after the VAR before the missed penalty was quite rediculous

I didn't turn it on until the very end and was wondering wtf happened to have 9 minutes of stoppage lol

I still haven't seen the VAR stuff. Going to look for it now.

^^ Well he basically went back an re-refereed the foul that he was positioned correctly and didn't call a foul at normal speed. Thankfully because of Acosta's shithousery the taker missed. I also think this group was from the African Federation (I think I heard that in broadcast)

The referee in the Mexico-Canada game was worse. He missed an obvious penalty on Canada allowed play to continue which just about led to an all out brawl on touchline after a hard foul on a Canadian player.

Then game was delayed by those moronic Mexican fans doing the banned chant which basically allowed Mexico to get a normal time winner. Banning fans and fines aren't working, its time for forfeits for the Mexican national team. Or Bans from Tournaments including the World Cup.

We haven't looked impressive offensively at all in the Gold cup, but the fact that our revolving door of defenders has let in 1 goal all tournament is pretty damn good. Zimmerman and Moore in particular have looked good this tournament. I really like the explosiveness that Moore brings, plus with a name like that, it's easy to root for him. I'm just glad he doesn't get buried on the bench behind an over the hill zero like Beasley or something

Offensively, I would like to see Hoppe and Gio play together rather than be each other's replacements. They both have been among the lone bright spots offensively. Hoppe reminds me a bit of Dempsey with his attitude and swagger.

Busio is a nice player too. Not quite ready for the A team IMO, but he brings some offensive creativity that we need.

The kids took care of business. Hopefully the days of missing out on the World Cup are behind us.

Wonder who next Mexican Team coach will be?

Next stop WCQ, will be interesting to see what Berhalter does, this Gold Cup squad could handle El Salvador and Honduras, but Canada at home do you bring some of your European based players in for this set of games in September?
