haha this guy is an idiot
12/7/2009 10:06:52 PM
Has nothing to do with substitution pattern? wtf. Has to do with game time experience. I want them to win as much as anyone.
12/7/2009 10:09:07 PM
It has nothing to do with the substitution pattern? How might you suggest they enter the game?
12/7/2009 10:09:53 PM
Ok...stick Painter out there for at least 10 minutes one game...run some plays to him....put him on their best forward...so he struggles...but he's for the better and you are still playing GA southern with a better chance to win.
12/7/2009 10:12:02 PM
dude its been seven gamesthese are freshman we're talking aboutmaybe just wait a little bit?
12/7/2009 10:13:13 PM
Hey Replace GEORGIA SOUTHERNwith NEW ORLEANSand read that back to yourself
12/7/2009 10:13:33 PM
our next 2 games are against Elon and Georgia Southern. they have a combined record of 6-12.... Painter + Howell will get their chance before Wake
12/7/2009 10:13:41 PM
Painter is averaging 8mpg
12/7/2009 10:25:14 PM
12/7/2009 11:02:59 PM
k...so no one agrees with the fact that our 4 star freshman have not had enough legitimate minutes to get them game ready for ACC play...which is fine...I just think it hurts our depth and you don't have a chance to throw them into the fire and succeed. Plus the ACC doesn't start next year...it starts in 2 games.
12/7/2009 11:25:04 PM
isnt that what practices are for?i dont see what the big deal is? why force the issue just to get the freshmen some minutes? they will get theirs, but no need to force anything
12/7/2009 11:35:15 PM
you're getting way too caught up in the number game kid. this is basketball, not statistics.
12/7/2009 11:36:22 PM
I don't think this noob has ever watched college basketball. Unless the guy is a one and done type player, you don't run plays for a freshman big man. Their job is to rebound, box out, hustle, play defense, give weakside help. If they show that they have better offensive skills in practice, then they may get a bone thrown to them during the game. That's it. Any expectation otherwise is naive. In fact, the person I want to see more on the block is horner. He has to show a back-to-the-basket dimension to his game in order for us to do well. Otherwise, people are just going to smother tracy.[Edited on December 7, 2009 at 11:46 PM. Reason : .]

^ And then Howell could bring in a big body. Basically you're just saying screw what the freshmen do this year...we don't want to have the depth and know they won't help...let's give them 7 minutes a game...expect the players on the floor to get it done...and let the other big ACC schools play their freshmen. I can understand that...Horner for MVP is guessFYI: Enough with the "kid" and "noob"...I've been watching ACC basketball for 24 years...I'm a alum of NC state and season ticket holder. I want NC state to thrive. I just feel like you have talent and need to cultivate it early or it may be too late.[Edited on December 8, 2009 at 12:22 AM. Reason : .]

If Howell had been healthy from the start of the year and neither him nor Painter had played much, I would be slightly concerned. You need a 3rd big guy for when Smith starts games with 2 fouls against Duke and UNCAs it stands, I dont know wtf you want them to do. Painter, Vandenberg and Davis have all seen time. Howell will probably play more in the next two games
12/8/2009 12:29:49 AM
painter is not very good. ive seen him play 8 minutes a game and wouldnt mind if it was less...he was pretty highly recruited and hasnt shown much at all. whereas davis was not very highly touted and is earning more minutes.
12/8/2009 12:35:35 AM
i dont know about that, but god damn it do i love blue ballzzz LOLOLOLOLOLO 8====D~~~~~
12/8/2009 12:49:12 AM
^^^^^ maybe.....if......you.....didn't.......write......like.....a.....child....people.....wouldnt.....call...you....oneIn any case, all 3 freshmen bigs are getting 10+ minutes when we can afford it (against cupcakes). You are whining about something that isn't even a problem. Watch the games and grow up.[Edited on December 8, 2009 at 12:54 AM. Reason : .]

King my ass. Watching the games and winning the games are entirely different. Of course it's not an issue yet!!! ACC and depth!! You people just read what you want and write what you want without processing. If you think our starting 5 can continue with the current minutes of the first 7 games then you are sadly mistaken. You sit aside and watch Plumlee and Henson get their minutes and progress. (Can of worms huh?) And don't tell me its because they are better because you are talking about two loaded teams where they could sit on the bench and it wouldn't matter. And practice? Don't make me go Allen Iverson. Game experience is entirely different. Redshirt the guy if you don't want him to play. And how can you say Painter sucks and he should play less if he plays 8 minutes a fucking game!?Topic over. Good luck with not letting good talent get game experience before the ACC season. Just wait until they play 10+ minutes in the Duke game and look lost. Go Pack!
12/8/2009 1:14:48 AM
you people?what do you mean, you people?
12/8/2009 1:21:24 AM
lol, you're getting entirely too worked up over this one kid.
12/8/2009 1:25:57 AM
12/8/2009 2:13:44 AM
yeah, and i'd say plumlee is progressing pretty well by sitting out with a broken wrist
12/8/2009 2:25:54 AM
TOPIC OVER.lol.

andyWolfVill, Sid knows a hell of a lot more about player development than you do. Throwing someone to the dogs for 20 minutes making you lose the game in the meantime isn't doing you any good. If you can afford to give your freshman big man 8 minutes a game that's great. You typically want your starters to be in there about 30 minutes a game anyway, and that 8 minutes a game gives them time to get a bit of experience, lets them make a play or two, lets them mess up once or twice, then takes them out of the game with something to learn from. Most of the learning takes place in practice where Sid can actually pull you aside and coach you through your mistakes for a minute or 12. If you're wondering why Wood and Davis see so many minutes compared to Howell and Painter just look at who else Sid wants at the 3 vs. who he wants to play at the 4 and 5. Two of our 3 best players this year start at the 4 and 5 (with the 3rd being Javi). It's not like the guys starting over them are doing a bad job, Horner's been surprisingly good this year, and Smith is our best scorer.
12/8/2009 8:37:04 AM
^ oh that's why Scott Wood's a starter I have just destroyed your argument.
12/8/2009 10:10:29 AM
^No you haven't. Wood starts because there's no one to start in front of him.
12/8/2009 10:27:52 AM
goddamnit Don Beebe stop fucking posting
12/8/2009 11:10:07 AM
Don Beebe, if you're going to troll, at least find an actual flaw in my argument... okay?
12/8/2009 11:11:17 AM
don beebe played for the panthers.
12/8/2009 11:12:58 AM
I never played for the panthers.and CJ Williams could start in front of Wood if your argument actually held any water.[Edited on December 8, 2009 at 11:21 AM. Reason : .]
12/8/2009 11:19:48 AM
I think Javi is playing better than Horner although Dennis has hit some big threes. Javi seems to have developed as a passer and on the dribble drive.Scott Wood is a different topic. Kid is a prolific long ball shooter in high school..plays his first game and goes 3 for 4....now the rim seems to have shrunk. I hope we continue to help his shot and not make him think he's already JJ Reddick and expect him to know what he's doing.
12/8/2009 11:44:22 AM
^ I think similar to ferguson, he's forced to put up the shot quicker than usual in the college game. He'll learn.
12/8/2009 11:48:51 AM
12/8/2009 1:08:27 PM
Scott Wood is having issues because he is concentrating on bulking up right now. He probably has never done the type of weight training that he is doing now and it is throwing off his shot.[Edited on December 8, 2009 at 1:10 PM. 12/8/2009 1:22:08 PM
^^No dumbfuck. It has to do with whether Sid can do anything with them ALA Hickson.FWIW this year's class was rated pretty highly and they are not contributing much yet either. So I wouldn't expect next year's to jump right in and make us a top 3 ACC team like many of you are believing. [Edited on December 8, 2009 at 2:26 PM. Reason : blah]
12/8/2009 2:22:59 PM
who the hell is ALA Hickson? Did JJ convert?
12/8/2009 2:45:22 PM
12/8/2009 2:57:12 PM
This is true, Sid's done well bringing in talent.More importantly this is his first real team where most players have come into "Sid's program". Best thing ever was getting Costner out off the team he never really liked/believed in Sid like the new recruits can.
12/8/2009 3:09:59 PM
You guys serious? I know the class is great....easily the best since Hodge, Powell, Evtimov, Levi.I am just not going to make out like we jump to the top of the ACC because of it. Just being realistic. This all started with erice85 and the Herb shit when none of it has to do with Herb. You can look in this thread I haven't had many complaints this year. I was very pleased with the Marquette game. I just want our sophomores Mays and Williams to play like they can.
12/8/2009 3:12:52 PM
I think the next year argument was where I was going with the Howell/Painter PT argument. So Harrow/Cothron/Brown/(Leslie) are going to come in and automatically make us an ACC powerhouse? NO..because he'll play them 8 minutes a game too trying to "settle them in." Not to say it won't help...I'm juiced about the whole thing anyway.[Edited on December 8, 2009 at 3:28 PM. Reason : .]
12/8/2009 3:14:42 PM
I'm pretty sure Harrow and Brown can steal a few more than 8 minutes a game. Let Javi play about 30, Mays about 20, and Harrow/Brown about 15.. unless they prove they're better, in which case I have no problem sitting Mays and Javi most of the game if it makes the team better.[Edited on December 8, 2009 at 3:25 PM. Reason : Haha i just meant like, early in the season, because he's got experience and stuff..]
12/8/2009 3:21:08 PM
If Julius Mays plays more than Ryan Harrow, I will personally stab Sidney Lowe.
12/8/2009 3:24:35 PM
Yeah, these guys could come in playing a lot. Especially if ball control/movement kills us again this season.
12/8/2009 3:50:47 PM
Hopefully howell is as good as hickson and lowe's pulling a coach k/roy in attempt to keep him in school instead of how he messed up with hickson by letting him run the show from day 1.
