lol. It's always been like that. Even on stock. If you're connected to a wifi network, the 3G/4G connection is gone. Well unless you're sending an MMS and then you'll see the Verizon connection pop up briefly]

note to all: don't change the font on BAMF ...it reboots and hangs at the white HTC screen...looks like it's a common problem (in that changing fonts almost never works for ANYONE)

tried gingeritis 3D 1.0 beta 8 and didn't care for it compared to BAMF sense 3.0 RC4.9this is fun [Edited on August 27, 2011 at 12:13 PM. Reason : .]

anyone have a favorite standalone remote control app? looking for something that uses bluetooth (since my mouse and keyboard already do) to control basic media players (vlc and winamp specifically)...unified looks okay, but you have to install software on the computer, tooit may be that the nature of such things requires installation on all computers...but i thought i'd check here, firstif so, gmote and unified seem to be the top contenders (though i think gmote uses wifi and not bluetooth)[Edited on August 27, 2011 at 3:17 PM. I used gmote for a bit. it was ok. i tried a few others, though I can't recall the names... but overall I was unimpressed with all of them.

https://market.android.com/details?id=com.WiredDFW.DIRECTV.unWiredRemote&hl=enGreat remote app if you have DirecTV. I've been using it more than my actual DirecTV remote since I got it. I'm using a Xoom so YMMV.

I use the plastic remote that came with my dvr, it seems to do it's job
8/27/2011 9:36:02 PM
^ your plastic remote uses bluetooth and controls your PC as well? that's pretty nice...which DVR comes with that?
8/27/2011 10:44:45 PM
I use xbmc remote and Goldworm.

Im going to wait until after the Galaxy SII announcement later today obviously, but I might have to go with the Evo3D...Wirefly has it for $99.99 for upgraded contracts...coupled with the BOA Additup deal, its $49.99 after cashback.

Well, finally got a smart phone yesterday. X2. Never used anything but old school flip-phone until now.Pretty nifty tricks it can do. Favorite feature by far is the built in FM tuner. Also I like you load mp3s through plain windows explorer, unlike the iPod touch I used to use.I did chuckle after setting up eight billion different accounts and services because whenever ANYONE sends me ANYTHING, I get notified of it about six different ways - it reminded of Ryan (from the Office) inventing that all-encompassing social media handler.

Anybody recommend a good credit card swiping/entering app? I'm looking at Square or Intuit GoPayment. Any other ones I should be looking at?
9/7/2011 11:08:18 AM
a friend of mine works for a nonprofit and they use intuit...i have no direct experience myself, but it works well for them (apparently)
9/7/2011 11:16:58 AM
^^ have heard only good things about Square. Not something I use, but i hear it works well.
9/7/2011 5:02:55 PM
not impressed with the bionic now that I've seen the specs on the SII and found out about the locked bootloaderfuck, guess I'm waiting on the Prime
9/7/2011 5:36:55 PM
yep that's what i'm waiting for...the evo 3d wasn't worth it. the sgs2 epic touch 4g is still SAMSUNG and i swore i would never buy anything they have to update themselves after seeing what the epic users had to go through, so that's out. HTC unlocking bootloaders is a big plus for them and i would gladly buy any HTC phone now but with ICS at thanksgiving, I don't think it's worth it right now.

9/7/2011 6:28:26 PM
hmm, to get the bionic or not??
9/8/2011 8:42:02 AM
Engadget made it sound like just a Droid X2 with LTE.Which is good, but not earth shattering.
9/8/2011 11:56:53 AM
what are the differencesBionic [16GB SD card + 16GB internal] vs. [8 and 8] for X2Bionic has front facing cameraBionic has 4G LTEanything else
9/8/2011 12:02:43 PM
yeah, Bionic has LTE, better processor (TI Omap instead of Tegra 2) and more memory.
9/8/2011 12:02:56 PM
I don't think I can bring myself to buy the bionic. It would have been a great phone, and likely in my hands if it was launched in say... July.
9/8/2011 12:08:25 PM
true. I'm waiting for quad-core and ICS or jelly donut or whatever the hell else is coming early-mid 2012.
9/8/2011 12:11:37 PM
I've got an upgrade that's just burning a hole in my pocket. I won't make it out that far, but I think I can make it until December.Although, I could read the section on my creditcard agreement, I think my amex allows me a 90 day return window, even if the return window is closed by the original vendor.not applicable to cell phones, and would burn up my upgrade subsidy[Edited on September 8, 2011 at 12:27 PM. Reason : .]
9/8/2011 12:18:23 PM
It's the $300 price that really turns me off from a Bionic. The Photon is basically the same phone with no LTE and costs $100 now, and the Galaxy S 2 is by most accounts superior and is $200. And since I'm not currently on Verizon, LTE doesn't really interest me. Oh 14mb/s download? You mean I can burn through my entire monthly allowance in about 3 minutes!? Sign me up!
9/8/2011 1:12:28 PM
9/8/2011 1:16:59 PM
So the SGS2ET4G isn't coming to Verizon then... So the Bionic is really the only decent 4G phone on Verizon until what the Prime?
9/8/2011 1:26:09 PM
dumb question from an (obvious) android/phone noob: is it realistic to hope for an ICS rom for the thunderbolt? android releases are so frequent (compared to computer OSes) that i'm not sure if each new version is very backwards compatible or if phones are designed to run only one (maybe two) different versions of android (and vice versa, that each version of android is geared toward a specific hardware configuration)[Edited on September 8, 2011 at 1:38 PM. Reason : i know computer OSes are more complex, but you get my point]

I was planning to get a Droid Bionic today, but I was told you can't tether with the $30 plan and that I have to pay $50 for the data plan that includes "Mobile Hotspot". That sounds lame as shit to me. If I pay for the 2GB of data why do they care how I use it?Any issues tethering with Sprint?

That was in reference to the leaked GB update for the Droid X that apparently had some kind of sniffing mechanism in place. Just fear mongering imo. The developers will find a way around it.[Edited on September 8, 2011 at 2:10 PM. Reason : ]

I went and played with a bionic. Nice form factor, it's slick.. I like quite a bit about it. I could even get over blur. But the screen was distracting. Side by side, I would have bought a thunderbolt over a bionic. Motorola ruined what could have been a great product.
