A lot of what I read implied that one of the main reasons for this purchase was the 17,000+ patents that Motorola possesses. Apparently, this will give Google a lot of firepower as it fights the neverending patent troll war.

I just flashed my tablet to its latest firmware last night, and now I can't sign in/up for Netflix or the Amazon MP3 Cloud player?Netflix keeps booting me back to the login screen saying "logging you out because your configuration has changes"Amazon MP3 gives me an "Exception #47" when I try to login.Any ideas tdub?

Buy a tablet shit works on? I figured Microsoft guys would be used to having errors like that Sorry, i'm done.Rollback to previous firmware? You might be hard pressed to find many solutions, since it's an off brand tab with little to no dev community.[Edited on August 15, 2011 at 8:18 PM. Reason : .]

^Everything that works, is smooth as silk on this thing. I can watch Youtube on the browser all day long, super smooth scrolling, great 3d performance and battery life.I did the manual update to Android Market to 2.3.6, wonder if that could be causing it? Might try restoring the older market apk, redownloading the apps. The Amazon error is supposedly some kind of hardware authentication failure, apparently. Wonder if I just need an older version of the APK?

i dont see why market would be breaking amazon mp3 app... it's worth a shot to revert it.

^^ interesting turn of events. Surprised it took this long.

Loaded Sense 3.0 on my Evo 4g, it's pretty awesome. A little laggy, but I figure I'm just trying to use it until my phone goes kaput and I get a choice of Galaxy, 3D and Photon. Right now i'm leaning towards photon, but that can change quickly.
8/16/2011 11:30:33 PM
I know someone that just bought an evo 4g. I'm like... way to buy a year and a half old device I'm like you didnt get the 3d? Didn't like the screen. OK, well, you didn't get a nexus s? I don't get it. Why the fuck would you get a phone that is nearing the point where users are upgrading out of that phone.
8/17/2011 12:11:31 AM
OG Evo is a great device. If you can get it at 99 bucks I don't know that it's a terrible deal, but you're right. I went with my boss to get an iPhone 4 and I'm sure I stressed at least 3 times on the way that it was going to approach end of life with next month's announcements.3D makes the second device I adopted early on and I've been thoroughly satisfied both times. I also procured the 3D for a grand total of ~ 65 dollars because of the value the 4G held at the time.

Debating making my Droid stretch out a little further if this sucker comes to Verizon. http://www.droid-life.com/2011/08/17/motorola-droid-hd-makes-first-major-appearance-gets-compared-to-the-bionic/Currently my plan is to let the bionic chill for a month and see what issues pop up. And to see if the HTC vigor is coming out.
8/17/2011 3:04:48 PM
So the Motorola Photon 4g looks pretty awesome, anyone tried it?
8/17/2011 11:48:16 PM
I've played with the Photon in the stores and am thinking of getting it. With my Evo's charging port dying in the past 2 days, I am leaning towards getting it. However, if I can hold out a little longer just to see what the new Samsung device is like I might. Sim card sprint phone is perfect though for me when I leave the US for work occasionally. So I'll probably end up getting it anyways, but damnit I wish it had Sense 3.0. I've been using it on my Evo and it's amazing.
8/18/2011 12:10:41 AM
Evo 3D update that came out yesterday allows you to take screenshots now (unrooted)To take a screenshot (after you've updated) : Hold the power button and press 'Home' button at the same time. Voila, saved under 'camera shots'
8/18/2011 12:49:11 PM
it also breaks root and closes the fre3vo exploit.
8/18/2011 3:37:14 PM
did anyone sell their Evo 4G back to Sprint for $150? I still haben't shipped mine...mostly because it still has CM7 on there... . Might just ship it back like that and see what happens...
8/18/2011 4:58:37 PM
I traded mine in at the store the day i got my 3D. I just flashed to stock and relocked it before taking it in. The water sensor was activated so i scraped it off and i got to keep my sdcard.http://www.goodandevo.net/2011/03/how-to-unroot-your-htc-evo-4g.htmlI actually opened up a quote online because they're good for 60 or 90 days and I was afraid that the 150 would change to 100 on 3D launch day. It didn't so I ignored the buyback quote and just got instant credit @corporate store. Very smooth.[Edited on August 18, 2011 at 6:18 PM. Reason : ]

i'm loving the miui rom more and more with each update. i just wish they'd fix the camera from being sluggish.http://miui.us/
8/19/2011 9:18:09 AM
I want CM7
8/19/2011 9:37:04 AM
I like Miui but not having 4G was a deal breaker to me back then. I love the Sense 3.0 Rom I'm running on my Evo. It's smooth as can be, only problem it leaves little internal memory. Best rom I've used so far though. I got tired of Cyanogenmod after a while.Still trying to hold out until the Galaxy S2, but still think Im going to end up with the Photon regardless. I just wish it would get Sense 3.0.
8/19/2011 6:13:14 PM
CM7 + MattedBlues is just wonderfully simplistic. I love it and the ports cannot come fast enough.
8/19/2011 6:59:36 PM
huh, didn't know there was an update coming.DX is updating now
8/20/2011 2:25:23 PM
Anybody else with an Inspire get the gingerbread update yet? I saw it was going to be two weeks at the end of July on techcrunch.

Anyone else having issues with the Market this week? I've had issues with apps getting stuck in the download cycle (shows it's started but never goes anywhere). Today I'm having issues seeing the My Apps page.It clears up for a while when I reboot my phone (Incredible).
8/25/2011 10:20:39 AM
go into settings-applications-manage applications. Then click running and clear data for the market.
8/25/2011 10:21:41 AM
Just rooted the DX... Very awesome to have free wifi tethering, no more bloatware, and I am working on overclocking. Sticking with rooted Gingerbread .596 or whatever. Any recommended apps for overclocking? I just have Milestone and bump it up when needed, then set it back to default when I am done.
8/25/2011 10:29:36 AM

If they're getting the next nexus it makes sense. Who knows when they'll have it though. I'll believe it when I see it.

They say Oct / Nov 2011, that means Q2 2012 or later
8/25/2011 3:18:01 PM
4^SO Z4. never been able to get that to work. gingerbreak won't work either. idk what the hell is wrong with my phone, but nothing has ever been able to root it.
8/25/2011 4:05:12 PM
You have to go back to Froyo, then do that stuff, then install the hacked GB with root access (via zip file)[Edited on August 25, 2011 at 4:28 PM. Reason : but going back to Froyo via the linux program they have]
8/25/2011 4:28:12 PM
oh, I figured it had all been updated for GB... guess not. pretty sure gingerbreak was supposed to work on gingerbread.and z4 never worked when i was on froyo anyways.rootless I shall continue I guess.[Edited on August 25, 2011 at 4:40 PM. Reason : .]
8/25/2011 4:40:13 PM
for as much as the D2Global sucks with only having 2 ROMs that I know of and no plans in the near future to upgrade the current Froyo OS, rooting it was easy as hell with z4
8/25/2011 4:46:24 PM
okay, i flashed my thunderbolt with das bamf sense 3.0 RC4.9 and updated the radio to MR2.5 and all i can do is make/receive calls...no 3G/4G access (at least, not that i can see) and even though i can access teh intarwebs using wifi, i can't download apps from the market...it just hangs at "starting download..." whenever i try to download everythingthinking i wasn't supposed to use MR2.5, i replaced with with MR2 and the same thing is happeningthe market app might be the old version since (i think) it looks different, but where did my 3G/4G go?
8/26/2011 9:38:47 AM
sure you flashed the right radio? I'd try redownloading one of the post MR2 radios from http://teambamf.net/showthread.php/242-Radios!
8/26/2011 9:41:08 AM

The first is the "official" one that was pushed out with the MR2 update. The 3rd one is what I'm using and the last two are from the two most recent leaks but should work also.
8/26/2011 9:53:10 AM
i'll give those a shot...thanks for the help...i really am embarrassing bad at this also, i don't know how i missed this: http://themikmik.com/showthread.php?8238-ROM-ZIP-format-2.11.605.0-Official-Gingerbread-for-the-ThunderBoltand a friend used this method with it: http://www.thunderboltforums.com/forum/htc-thundebolt-hacking-guides/5259-rs-approved-revolutionary-5-minutes-less-root-without-data-loss.html

well, dammit...none of those last 3 workedwell, actually, they allowed me to download things from the market, but the 3G/4G icons never showed up at the top (and i checked the mobile wireless settings)other suggestions?[Edited on August 26, 2011 at 10:28 AM. Reason : uh, are there supposed to be 3G/4G icons at the top?]
8/26/2011 10:27:30 AM
maybe try redownloading/reflashing the rom itself. Did you wipe before flashing the rom?
8/26/2011 10:28:29 AM
redownloaded/reflashed...during the OS setup (language, etc) it showed the 3G icon at the top and i thought all was good...when it was finished and rebooted, it went away and hasn't been back since i updated to the latest radio and still no differenceyes, i did the tri-wipe before flashing (again): wipe data factory reset, wipe cache, and advanced > wipe dalvik cacheEDIT: fuck me. the stock shows the wifi AND the 3G/4G icon...while it makes sense, i didn't expect for the wifi icon to REPLACE the 3G/4G when it was connected (because it opts to use wifi over the mobile data connections)...it probably worked all along [Edited on August 26, 2011 at 11:03 AM.
