look guyswe all know he's right

While it's annoying to wait so long for features that could be considered "basic", I think Apple is going about this right way. It's not just about implementing as many features as possible, it's about designing a touch based user experience that will eventually eliminate the need for traditional input devices. If you think about it from that perspective, the implementation is just as important as the feature itself, and it's absolutely necessary that wait until they get it just right before releasing it.
4/8/2010 2:30:22 PM
^and this is why I respect Apple. So few companies do that.
4/8/2010 2:31:19 PM
^^ yes important new features like iAds... what a joke of a feature to be in the "top 7"
4/8/2010 2:33:47 PM
^not a joke at all if you are a developer lol
4/8/2010 2:35:20 PM
So you're saying that it took them 3 and a half years to master the concept and implementation of folders on a touch interface? The ol' Apple BrainTrust must've been working overtime.
4/8/2010 2:35:37 PM
lol Stein, put the trolling to rest. We get it, you despise everything that is Apple.
4/8/2010 2:36:30 PM
It's Folders. Not some brand new, earth shattering paradigm.Folders
4/8/2010 2:38:35 PM
its a Phone you would think everyone would have gotten it right by now.
4/8/2010 2:40:59 PM
stein just quit whining. it's hurting my ears. if you don't like it, get out. the iphone is the best selling smartphone, and it has everything to do with good, quality design.
4/8/2010 2:41:24 PM
How much R&D do you think it cost them to let you put a background image behind your apps?
4/8/2010 2:42:04 PM
At least $2.1 mil or so I heard.and you know what? A few hundred of that $2.1 mil came from you [Edited on April 8, 2010 at 2:43 PM. Reason : .]
4/8/2010 2:43:13 PM
about as much energy that you waste trollin it up in here
4/8/2010 2:43:14 PM
i don't give a shit. having a background isn't a big concern of mine.
4/8/2010 2:43:19 PM
4/8/2010 2:45:00 PM
Id be more embarrassed that you let it bother you this much
4/8/2010 2:45:43 PM
^^I would be too if I knew my money was going towards well developed products with an unmatched user experience that I still wasn't happy with. Also, iPhone was 3rd best selling Smartphone in 2009 behind RIM and Nokia (1st) but its growth dwarfs everyone else (81% growth)[Edited on April 8, 2010 at 2:47 PM. Reason : o]

4/8/2010 2:53:45 PM

4/8/2010 2:58:48 PM
My SDK is still downloading
4/8/2010 4:05:49 PM
send me dat ipsw son
4/8/2010 4:09:10 PM
wow, so there's a few frameworks that have popped up that allow you to develop iphone apps without using xcode/objective-c, and the new dev agreement now prohibits themhttp://daringfireball.net/2010/04/iphone_agreement_bans_flash_compilerpretty bitch move imo
4/8/2010 4:18:42 PM
if its compiled how would they tell?
4/8/2010 4:23:17 PM
-shrug- they can tell by the pixels?
4/8/2010 4:24:53 PM
This is probably targeting stuff like thishttp://www.knowyourcell.com/news/458104/reminder_adobe_brings_iphone_app_development_to_windows_next_week.htmlI think its mainly to prevent it from occurring on non OSX machines[Edited on April 8, 2010 at 4:32 PM. Reason : *]
4/8/2010 4:31:20 PM
That's such a pain in the ass, though. I'd love to work on iPhone stuff but I don't have $texas for another computer.
4/8/2010 4:38:00 PM
^? Its coming to windows via flash. If you already know flash thats a huge leg up.
4/8/2010 4:41:02 PM
4/8/2010 4:45:29 PM
Its an extreme bitch move from Apple if it stands as described ^
4/8/2010 4:47:36 PM
I think Steve Jobs hates Adobe as much as I hate Apple.Which is odd, because for the longest time Adobe's software was the only real reason to own a Mac.
4/8/2010 4:48:28 PM
I'm confused. I thought this was official from both parties?I hate flash more than Steve Jobs hates Adobe and Stein hates Apple combined!
4/8/2010 4:54:15 PM
on the other hand, the monotouch architect says he's working on it, so we'll seehttp://twitter.com/migueldeicaza/status/11836097616
4/8/2010 5:01:46 PM
Ok even if these companies find ways to not be detected, wont they still be restricted in selling their solutions?
4/8/2010 5:06:44 PM
oh shit!
4/8/2010 5:11:45 PM
^I'm one step behind you
4/8/2010 5:12:47 PM
i think if i had that background, i'd constantly be anxious about undetected water damage
4/8/2010 5:17:20 PM
i'm trying to figure out why they chose that as the default background in other news:OMG @ NATIVELY SUPPORTING MULTIPLE EXCHANGE ACCOUNTSOMG @ NEW CALCULATOR ICONOMG @ EVERYTHING SEEMS FASTEROMG @ NEW HOME SCREEN DESIGN]
4/8/2010 5:25:48 PM
i do like the multiple exchange support (though i thought that was a limitation of the activesync framework or whatever)between my gmail and my work email, i choose my gmail for push
4/8/2010 5:29:29 PM
first thoughts:holy shit, be prepared for it to take ages to sync all of your initial exchange push datait's slowly but surely coming down, thoughand i'm hearing a lot of weird popping noises coming from the speaker at strange times... it seems like it happens whenever it initializes the audio framework.
4/8/2010 5:30:49 PM
Mines updating now...just started. So since this won't be available to the public on iPad until the Fall was there any mention to when developers would get it for iPad?
4/8/2010 5:42:33 PM
Mine loaded really fast and exchange was up and running with no issues pretty much as soon as the phone restarted.I am not seeing where to change wallpapers for non-lock screen though or where the water drops wall paper is...its on by default but i don't see a way to reselect it.There is a 'organize by thread' option which I'm guessing is the same concept as gmail organizing replies. Yup, it is! Sweet.[Edited on April 8, 2010 at 5:57 PM. Reason : .]

holy shitso i just downloaded the justin.tv app a few days ago -- couldn't get any decent streams, and when i finally found something, it would crash every timei just downloaded the update, and i've been streaming the Braves/Cubs game for 15 minutes in pretty solid quality completely uninterruptedhope this keeps up
