i'd be more comfortable in a 10+ story building instead of a house
2/24/2016 10:59:25 AM
Really? I mean I know the chances are high there could be some bad storms but I have never heard of closing schools early or going home for weather like this.
2/24/2016 11:00:28 AM
your roads are fine
2/24/2016 11:04:09 AM
2/24/2016 11:10:22 AM
all day event?
2/24/2016 11:39:15 AM
So once spring arrives and we have a chance at severe weather once or twice a week are they gonna cancel schools? What about summer where every single day you have that chance of a freak storm popping up? I get its a high risk day but a fair amount of kids are a lot safer at that school than home in their houses to be honest. Not to mention the stuff moving through now isnt exactly tame and you sent all the buses out into this with no problem.
2/24/2016 11:47:34 AM
the stuff now isn't severe, severe weather is still to come
2/24/2016 11:58:13 AM
Ive seen two tornado warnings already so Id call that severe Ive had sideways rain here a bit ago so the wind was blowing at about the same time they were sending the buses out. I guess my point is they send kids home early out into the first round of this stuff so what is safe about that? They have known this was coming for days they should have just cancelled if safety was their actual concern. Either that or keep the kids late until the last line passes. Sending them out now may be safer than a few hours from now I guess but not the smartest move.
2/24/2016 12:04:35 PM
There have been no tornado warnings yet in this area
2/24/2016 12:05:28 PM
2/24/2016 12:08:40 PM
So wait... was that band supposed to be the real deal event? Just rain ITB.
2/24/2016 12:19:10 PM
2/24/2016 12:21:21 PM
No heavier stuff is still to come later this afternoon
2/24/2016 12:22:41 PM
pussification of america.why the hell are they letting school out?seems like kids would be safer at school anyways.
2/24/2016 12:24:45 PM
Well that was a bit of a letdown. More coming or is it over already?[Edited on February 24, 2016 at 12:27 PM. Reason : Whoops was refreshing the previous page]
2/24/2016 12:26:26 PM
^^ you realize they have to get home at some point right?]
2/24/2016 12:26:43 PM
I do, but the majority of kids in Eastern NC live in poor conditions, old houses or even trailers/mobile homes.Back in my day we would just put our heads near our nuts and hope for the best.
2/24/2016 12:29:04 PM
counties have emergency storm shelters that are actually often in schools, i would expect some to be activated
2/24/2016 12:36:01 PM
but are the roads fine?
2/24/2016 12:45:12 PM
not sure, not ITB right now
2/24/2016 12:47:55 PM
your roads are fine.
2/24/2016 12:52:51 PM
I'm ITB rain is heavy on and off and its breezy and warm out there. I heard fire sirens so Im guessing the roads arent fine due to idiots much like anytime anything is falling from the sky.
2/24/2016 12:55:12 PM
been nothing worthy of conversation yet today over here in Morrisville. Pretty tame.
2/24/2016 12:56:50 PM
it's always a little weird to me when adults complain about schools closing early in other districts/counties...why does that bother anybody? the whole thing comes off as a back in my day argument. although i would assume that most school buildings are safer from tornadoes than people's homes. but, if it's going to impact kids on the bus, then i completely understand that.
2/24/2016 12:59:00 PM
Ain't seen shit but a little rain here in Durm
2/24/2016 1:42:44 PM
2/24/2016 1:55:35 PM

2/24/2016 2:24:56 PM

I'm heading home about 3:30, the roads will be fine
2/24/2016 2:42:50 PM

2/24/2016 3:14:06 PM
windy as fuck in joco
2/24/2016 3:18:22 PM
The storm front should hit Raleigh around 5. Tornado risk increasing.
2/24/2016 3:22:53 PM
tornado warnings in chatham and orange counties; heading towards wake
2/24/2016 3:23:02 PM
2/24/2016 4:04:00 PM
2/24/2016 4:12:43 PM
Big Black cell just passed right by my building, cool to see. Wind was whipping but any big rains seem to have missed me.
2/24/2016 4:14:56 PM
Yaaay people freaking out at the tornado warning that includes a piece of wake county... no worries yet.
2/24/2016 4:24:29 PM
"south western wake county"
2/24/2016 4:26:25 PM
I'm in RTP. They issued a warning and told everyone to get to the first floor in a center conference room with no windows. I'm still in my office. Doesn't look bad at all, just a little bit cloudier/darker than normal.
2/24/2016 4:30:54 PM
I am also in RTPI am slammed in a tiny room with half my coworkers pretending to work on laptops. I can hear some wind but meh.I want to leave. They won't let me.
2/24/2016 4:35:18 PM
Anyone in or around Oxford NC right now? Cause they're getting pounded at the moment.
2/24/2016 4:43:02 PM
I'm ITB, left so I didn't have to sit in a hallway at workSunny and nice here, roads are fine
2/24/2016 4:43:21 PM
This has been one of the weirdest weather days in recent memory. Pouring down rain, thunderstorms, then a half hour later it's bright and sunny and 70 degrees. Only constant has been the wind, gusting up to 50mph and 60mph and stuff.
2/24/2016 4:44:41 PM
I'm also in RTP, and nobody gives a shit. We're adults after all.
2/24/2016 4:48:12 PM
Also in RTP. Sunny and raining OFF DAVIS
2/24/2016 4:56:16 PM
The worst has passed the RTP area now.
2/24/2016 4:56:43 PM
What I want to know is how things are off Kaplan
2/24/2016 4:57:40 PM
wait wtf was that a tornado alarm on campus?
2/24/2016 5:03:07 PM
Hail nearby campus. Alarm was indeed a shelter-in-place alert.
