villa wouldve given you 10. how many for puyol, like 14? im not playing this so i have no idea how the points system worksand i said pick villa too![Edited on July 7, 2010 at 4:37 PM. Reason : f]
7/7/2010 4:36:59 PM
13and of course they are all subject to change
7/7/2010 4:37:43 PM
i would pick villa in the final. he is due to score now with his 43 goals in 64 games ratio (i think).
7/7/2010 4:38:54 PM
I'll go with him(I also have Kuyt and Sneijder, but Villa is much more of a sure thing)
7/7/2010 4:41:04 PM
the 3rd-4th game is played during the same "week" as the final. and i would expect more goals out of that game than a final game featuring a spanish side. I have had villa as my captain every week, but i might switch it to forlan or klose.
7/7/2010 4:42:07 PM
unless sneijder gets some more luck his waythough im sure you get points for shots, prob on goal though, but villa is gonna shoot more than sneijder will^im not sure i see forlan doing well against germany this time around. hes had a great tourney but i can see him being shut down. klose might be a good pick.[Edited on July 7, 2010 at 4:43 PM. No way, Germany played like shit and Spain played well. It was completely unexpected (no sarcasm there). That doesn't mean I can't be upset that my team lost, though.

Apparently I'm in second in the TWW bracket predictor contest.Good picks:1) Netherlands and Spain final.2) Germany to reach the semis.3) The Dutch offing Brazil.Bad picks:1) France and Italy to make it out of the group stage, much less win their groups. LOL.2) Argentina to lose to Mexico. (Think pre-tournament Argentina)3) England winning the group and making it to the semis. LOLOLOLOL.Whoever D Man is, you edged me by one regardless of the final result since we both have Spain to win it. Whoever K Ward is, you win if the Dutch wins the final.
7/7/2010 8:26:02 PM
if the dutch win, i finish second in the group.
7/8/2010 12:06:54 AM
Then the battle for second place is on.¡VIVA LA FURIA ROJA!
7/8/2010 12:12:45 AM
Ernie got raped in the bracket... not to say that my 20/36 finish was clutch though ahah.
7/8/2010 12:31:37 AM
wow, whoever D Man is must be a soccer genius
7/8/2010 12:40:59 AM
the fucking octopus was right again
7/8/2010 3:36:34 AM
you know, i had a bet with a friend in which i picked holland to win it all (he took spain), so i don't care what my bracket says

Just a look back at goals and ties in this tournament compared to others since it was a big topic of discussion, mainly among non-soccer fans I guess, at the beginning of this tournament (I just compiled these numbers quick myself today)-At this point in the tournament, this year's world cup has averaged about 2.3 goals/game which is on par with 2006's 2.3 gpg average.-There were 13 ties in the group stage this year, more than the 10 in 2006, but fewer than the 14 in 2002, and 16 in 1998-There have been 38 goals so far in this year's knockout round (averaging 2.7 gpg). Comparing previous tournaments at this exact same point: 2006 had 24 goals (1.7 gpg), 2002 had 24 goals (1.7 gpg), and 1998 had 39 goals (2.7 gpg)So, as I said in the beginning, it would all even out in the end. People (not specifically here, mainly just in general) were complaining about the massive amount of ties this year as well as the low amount of scoring at the beginning when there weren't even enough games to get a good statistical average from. Then again, I guess the people who were complaining about this have probably moved on to something else to complain about

Findley just scored on a bs penalty kick after he dove in the box, but couldn't score on a 1 v 1 against the Chicago gk.
7/8/2010 10:31:10 PM
I watched that pathetic excuse for a soccer game in what they call MLS. That was a legitimate penalty, but both Findley and MLS still suck.
7/9/2010 12:30:40 AM
^He should have done better than letting the gk freeze him and contain him until the defense caught up. Edson Buddle scored again the other night and Gomez was one of the top scorers in the Mexican league before the World Cup. Findley never should have seen the field at the World Cup.

7/9/2010 1:03:35 PM
about as classless as the tackle that should've had van basten sent off in the semifinal
7/9/2010 1:06:32 PM
uh reminder that happened in euro 2008
7/9/2010 1:11:31 PM
who cares. most jocks/famous people/celebrities are assholes. I'm not interested in what they do off the field
7/9/2010 1:16:34 PM
what about 25 feet from the field while still in uniform
7/9/2010 1:23:26 PM
you can't tell the difference between a game and a press conference? try not being so obtuse... I know it might ruin your point, but stillalso, as God said, that was in 2008. jesus[Edited on July 9, 2010 at 1:31 PM. Reason : .]
7/9/2010 1:29:42 PM
that was the first time spain had won anything in like 50 years almost, so i'd give them a pass on the celebration. anyways, they're spain, they always celebrate like that for pretty much everything.
7/9/2010 1:38:42 PM
i don't see what 2008 has to do with it15 of the 23 players from 2008 are in this squad
7/9/2010 1:51:20 PM
because people are posting it after spain just beat germany, giving the indication that it just happenedit didnt
7/9/2010 1:52:56 PM
yea it's the video of spain winning the euro 2008 championship against germany, not their game the other day
7/9/2010 1:54:27 PM
it's also kind of funny. disrespectful (or maybe just completely aloof) but still funny.
7/9/2010 2:08:46 PM
i think they did it to be goofynot knowing that bastian would be right therebut at that point, you can't stopespecially if you're spanish
7/9/2010 2:11:26 PM
ah, yes, because holland is a beacon of sportsmanship
7/9/2010 2:55:57 PM
Robben is a class act. Falling all over the field like he has vertigo. I'm going to start calling him Lucille 2.

7/9/2010 6:43:09 PM
i was actually really happy with the officiating in the spain-germany game (and a few others where whistles were few and far between). i think i heard that the ref who is doing the final has been giving out an average of 6 cards a game, which is not the kind of ref you want when you have robben and possibly torres on the field.i really, really, really hope that a bad decision is not the difference of this game. *fingers crossed*
