yeah, not sure if they actually stick to it but that's what was reported prior to them doing away with NE2 and annual upgrades. http://www.droid-life.com/2011/01/04/more-details-on-verizons-new-upgrade-policy/

I said "or so"
8/8/2011 4:16:26 PM
Not the correct LTE frequency though. Maybe they can change that to 700MHz and ditch the snapdragon for the Exynos. http://www.droid-life.com/2011/08/09/lte-samsung-galaxy-s-ii-pops-up-in-korea-sporting-4-5-screen-and-dual-core-1-5ghz-snapdragon-processor-we-all-dance-a-jig/

why do some apps show up in my market account as needing an update when i've supposedly uninstalled them?specifically, i tried out GO Launcher EX and didn't really care for it, so i uninstalled...but the contacts gowidget and calendar gowidget show up as needing to be updated, but i specifically uninstalled them (nothing related to the GO launcher shows up in my apps or widgets list)how do i get these to go away?
8/10/2011 8:33:50 AM
Did you uninstall them through the market or Settings-Manage Applications. If I just uninstall from the market, they usually stay there but doing the latter seems to get rid of them. You can also try clearing the market data and then opening it back up.
8/10/2011 8:56:27 AM
Think they will come out with a way to root the OTA Gingerbread anytime soon?

Bought a Renases ChinaTab a couple of weeks ago just to poke around on. Definitely totally understand why the iPad outsells android tablets like 10:1.that said, for the money I spent, its an insanely capable piece of hardware. Google needs to get their shit together and stop letting all the Chinese manufacturers run amok fragmenting their platform.
8/10/2011 10:31:32 PM
You can easily take the word 'Chinese' out of your last statement and it wouldn't make it any less true.
8/10/2011 10:52:58 PM
^Very possibly, although from what I've seen of the big players (Samsung, Motorola, HTC, even Viewsonic), they custom Android installs are at least fully functional and use licensed applications. This little tablet has definitely brought back my tinkerer habits and reminded me how much fucking time you can waste tweaking on computer stuff. Can't wait to try out Honeycomb if/when it ever comes out
8/11/2011 12:45:49 AM
Honeycomb source may not be released until it reaches obsolescence for that very reason. They didn't want china putting it on pieces of shit that couldn't run it it to their satisfaction. Or put it on phones and shit.Ice cream sandwich will run both platforms, and they've said they fully intend to release the source of that.
8/11/2011 1:35:30 AM
8/11/2011 2:18:25 AM
I almost posted that, but figured he was talking about to that tablet, or to the romming community? Or the source so both could happen?
8/11/2011 2:47:31 AM
yeah, a lot of misinformation floating around on this page.
8/11/2011 3:38:57 AM
Yeah I was talking about it being available on my chinatab.I think you've misunderstood me, Prospero. I AM impressed with Android. I am also impressed with how much hardware they pack in these things. I have zero interest in a tier-1 tablet (xoom, Galaxy Tab, etc). If I'm paying 400+ dollars, I'll get an iPad or wait for Windows. But the sub $150 I just paid for this sucker is definitely worth it, even on a slight cobbled together 2.2 install.Cortex A9 dual core, 512mb ddr2 mem, 4gb NAND, WiFi, capacitive 7" multitouch display, accelerometer, camera, HDMI out, usb, 4gb MicroSD card, 3600mwh battery, and PowerVR 530 graphics.
8/11/2011 5:07:28 AM
My Droid 3 with Dual Core Processor has horrible battery life. I can only imagine how the bionic is going to be with dual core and 4g lte.
8/11/2011 8:45:51 AM
bionic supposedly gets about 15hrs with moderate usage
8/11/2011 9:24:15 AM
If only we could get them to draw power from subspace.
8/11/2011 9:44:21 AM
hah, i'll believe it when i see itfairly certain AMOLED+ is more energy efficient at comparable brightness levels
8/11/2011 9:49:03 AM
Yea, sorry bout that, I just had a sentence to go off of and it sounded like you were basing your buying decision on Honeycomb vs. iPad based on your ChinaTab.I actually had a EKEN M001 7" Tablethttp://www.tomshardware.com/news/Eken-Android-Google-Tablet-iPad,10274.htmlIt was shit. But then again it was early on with Android 1.6 and an 8-bit screen with a touchscreen only a stylus could manipulate[Edited on August 11, 2011 at 11:09 AM. Reason : .]

I got this N7A-II Renesas http://www.mcbub.com/item/----August-Special-Offer-----7--N7A-II-Renesas-Cortex-A9-Dual-core-Capacitive-Touch-Screen-Tablet-pc-1-0GHz-Android-2-2-512MB-4GB-Bluetooth-HDMI-MID-black-CN101769--136318/It's a nice screen (840x480 surprisingly doesn't look bad at all on a 7"). Really good multitouch, decent accelerometer (though it's only a 270 deg range, not 360?).
8/11/2011 3:51:15 PM
i posted this in the backpacking thread, but just in case...

Anyone here have the samsung infuse? I can't seem to get CWM recovery loaded properly.

^^ LOL
8/12/2011 4:59:47 PM
My Evo is starting to give me charging issues. Should I wait for the SII or go with the Photon or Evo 3D?
8/12/2011 5:36:14 PM
^Ugh, don't get a Samsung. Their support (especially updates) sucks--I traded my Epic for an Evo. Unless you're getting it as a warranty replacement for the Evo, then by all means get a newer phone.
8/12/2011 5:59:22 PM
But the S II is a phone you can out custom roms on, iirc... sooo fuck samsungs support, they have been producing nice handsets
8/12/2011 9:22:51 PM
Does no good when the main developers avoid Samsung devices like the plague. No source and/or leaks = very little development.
8/12/2011 9:53:47 PM
So your prediction is the Galaxy S II is going to be a dud?
8/12/2011 11:24:36 PM
Tr00.
8/12/2011 11:53:06 PM
Does anyone have the Photon? It's getting good reviews from what I've read, just wondering if anyone here has it.
8/13/2011 12:30:34 PM
my DX has been rebooting itself almost twice a day lately ... what gives
8/13/2011 5:42:10 PM
Photon boot loader unlocked. Hopefully bionic has the same vulnerability.
8/15/2011 2:05:44 AM
maybe we'll get lucky and the bionic will be unlocked

time for microsoft to buy nokia and we can really get this cellphone war going

good...i've hated motorola phones for a while, now
8/15/2011 9:09:02 AM
Whoa....So, next nexus device is likely Motorola? Wondering about that omap4 being the preferred processor for ice cream sandwich... since deals like this dont happen over night. apparently notMotorola has the ability to make great handsets, they've been shitting the bed lately though. Hopefully that pentile shit stops.[Edited on August 15, 2011 at 12:56 PM. Reason : .]

Anyone have the Triumph? I picked this up yesterday. Seems really solid, but the only phone I can compare it to is the first droid.
