From the last page: Anyone have any thoughts as to red dot versus reflex optics?
1/25/2012 11:15:39 AM
a red dot tends to offer zoom capability.reflex sights are faster but without zoom.red dots seem more durable?

I'm drooling over Trijicon's SRS; the price will keep me away.

I was going to say that it would, but you had already bought it. The Midway USA brand range bags and shooting mats are almost always half off.

So what're you guys rocking for your everyday carry?I've been using a Glock 23 and Crossbreed Supertuck for the past few months and I've been more than pleased with comfort and concealment.

G26 in a maxtuck (maxtuck.com), really just a CBST clonegoing to shoot a Colt Delta Elite at lunch today. my first experience with 10mm, pretty excited to compare to what i'm used to
1/26/2012 10:17:33 AM
S&W 637 in a homemade kydex holsterSometimes a Ruger LCP in the pocket.
1/26/2012 11:15:54 AM
I pocket carry an LCP in a Desantis Nemesis. Trying to figure out something bigger I can carry IWB. I did carry a Kahr CW9 in a CBST, but I think I want more energy. Any thoughts?
1/26/2012 11:18:45 AM
Sound like you need a slightly used Glock 27 *cough cough*
1/26/2012 4:07:05 PM
that's certainly one i'm thinking about. i'll either go .40 S&W or .357 Sigwhat do you want for it?

I bought a Glock 36 for CC but my wife took it to carry. So now it's either Glock 17 or a 1911 IWB. I don't know if I'll buy another CC gun. I shoot a 19 at work but I have big hands and don't like it all that much.
1/26/2012 7:37:08 PM
NAA Guardian .380 in a nemesis pocket holster, or a M&P 9C. Smith 4006 if it's really cold and I'm not planning on taking my jacket off.
1/26/2012 8:07:40 PM
Used to be Bersa Thunder .380, now a S&W Bodyguard .380.
1/26/2012 8:36:08 PM
guy in my dad's CHP class was shooting a Bersa Thunder 380. towards the end of the live fire portion of the class, the muzzle end of the slide broke off.[Edited on January 26, 2012 at 8:45 PM. Reason : yay anecdotes]
1/26/2012 8:44:57 PM
My carry gun is a Kel-Tec P3AT (.380) with Crimson Trace LASER.The fit & finish is dismal, but I've never had a problem with it, and while it's kind of unpleasant to shoot (as anything that size is), it's pretty accurate given its tiny size and vestigial sights, as well as heavy trigger with super-long pull. That, and nothing (at least at any reasonable price) in this class is as small as a P3AT...and as a bonus, nothing else is as cheap, either (other than some giveaway prices on the Taurus TCP, I guess because some people had problems with them and they developed a bad reputation?)
1/26/2012 10:00:19 PM
the LCP is almost identical in size and most would agree it is reasonably pricedalso, the LCP comes with the little spur on the bottom of the mag that makes it much easier to get your ring finger on the grip.[Edited on January 26, 2012 at 10:07 PM. Reason : not shown in that pic, but it comes with that floorplate and the one with the spur]
1/26/2012 10:04:46 PM
Yeah, it's only a little bigger and not that much more expensive. I think it'll also lock open, which is nice. It would be my other choice in this class, barring a cost-no-object approach (which then isn't really exactly the same class). To me, the biggest factor (aside from reliability) was being really tiny (without going below .380, down to .32 or something). That it was a little cheaper was just a bonus to me. For my purposes with a pocket pistol, I didn't really give a shit about the Kel-Tec's fit and finish (or lack thereof ), as long as the function is there.[Edited on January 26, 2012 at 10:15 PM. 1/26/2012 10:08:49 PM
they're $270how much is a p3at?
1/26/2012 10:09:47 PM
I think I paid $225 for mine, although the list price is probably more. Cost wasn't the deciding factor--it was just a little bonus.
1/26/2012 10:21:08 PM
shot a bunch of 1911s today, now i want one. going from that back to the glock 26 trigger.... HUGE differenceand damn if i didn't shoot some hot 10mm loads too
1/26/2012 10:39:11 PM
hahaha, 1911 and Glock aren't even playing the same sport in the trigger department. That's pretty much why I shoot a 1911, and why I don't have a Glock (I like everything else about them...if they even were DA/SA like a SIG, I'd have one).
1/26/2012 10:46:23 PM
So riddle me this........ can't seem to find bullets for my gun *presents an issue, no?*Bullets are stamped 25 autoRight stamp:Cal.6.35.top: J.P.Sauer & Sohn,Suhlmag stamp: s&s6.35ok...GO(Great grandfather's that is now mine. I remember it being in his desk drawer when i was a child)
1/26/2012 11:25:25 PM
6.35 is the metric (mm) equivalent of .25 caliber (.25"). I am 99.99999% sure that it's chambered in .25 ACP...I don't know if they carry it at Wal-Mart, but a decent gun shop should have it.There is that outside 0.00001% chance there is some oddball and/or Communist-bloc cartridge that is the same caliber (diameter) but different case length/shape, and the .25 auto (same as .25 ACP; Automatic Colt Pistol) ammo you got with the gun is actually incorrect....but I am confident in saying that it's a .25 ACP.Now, if you want to have some ammo for it and shoot it every now and then just because of what it is and the personal history, then great. If you want to actually carry it for self-defense, I implore you to go get a modern pocket pistol in something bigger than .25 ACP. That is a near-extinct caliber that is woefully, extremely, dangerously, terribly underpowered. At best, it is equivalent to a .22 (LR, rimfire-type). In most loads, I think it's actually even LESS powerful. In other words, I'm not aware of a less powerful firearm, unless you load a .22 with .22 shorts...the only things I can think of with less grunt would be BB/pellet guns (and some of them would be more powerful).

Nice pick-up on the mossberg, but if I was determined to have a pistol grip, I would want a shoulder stock too.
1/27/2012 2:03:57 AM
Yes, add a stock. Unless you're into the drive-by shooting scene, that thing is nothing more than a novelty.
1/27/2012 5:51:29 AM
^^^combo stock FTMFW

thanks. I'm going to the Greensboro show tomorrow and I only have one permit.
1/27/2012 9:05:11 PM
oh i'm sure i'll be adding a combo stock to it in the futurejust ran across a good deal on the thing and picked it up
1/28/2012 4:06:18 AM
just got home with a brand hammer new CZ 455 American in .22LRgonna mount this Leupold VX-II 3-9x33 EFR and see what it'll do. the squirrels around here were in pretty bad shape before, but now it'll be downright unfair.
1/28/2012 1:32:55 PM
You ever run a 452? There is a 455 for sale locally for a great price, but all the guys over at RFC keep saying how the 452 is still king. I personally have shot both and without the numbers on the side I'm not sure I could tell a difference. I wonder what your thoughts are.
1/28/2012 5:38:13 PM
no, this is my first experience with CZ. the 452 is getting hard to find, apparently. i think you're talking about the 455 w/ threaded bbl on CSF, which i looked at pretty hard, but i have no interest in suppressors and i just didn't like how the thread protector screwed up the classic look of the rifle.i put around 40 rds through it today. the groups were on the large side, but i'm sure it just needs a proper break-in and some ammo testing. i also need to adjust the trigger pull down, but i'll probably end up putting in the trigger kit from YoDave on RFC because it's got a little creep. first and foremost, i need to get a bore guide that'll fit it.[Edited on January 28, 2012 at 6:24 PM. 1/28/2012 6:23:43 PM
anyone have an M&P 9c or a Glock 26 that my wife could try out before she makes her decision on a carry gun?
1/28/2012 8:58:27 PM
...so, I plan on replacing my Saiga 12 with another one and build it up just like the one I had.I think I'm gonna replace my Remington 700 (in 7mm REM) with a single-shot Handi-Rifle, probably chambered in something in either the .308 or maybe .30-06 case families. The impetus for going 7mm REM back when I bought that rifle 15 years ago was that I could only afford 1 rifle, and I wanted it to be suitable for any big game animal on the continent. Now, something like a 7mm-08 would be perfect for whitetails (or any other deer). If I ever get a chance to go hunt something really big, I'll just go buy myself a .30-cal or larger magnum.I also don't see much need for a repeating action to hunt deer, and the Handi would be cheap, lightweight, and accurate enough for any shot I'm likely to get (and if I go out west and take a 600m shot at an elk or something, I'll need a hotter caliber, anyway).I kinda want a smaller (5-6mm range) target/varmint-style, uber-accurate rifle, but that'll be another project for another day.
1/29/2012 12:51:55 AM
^^I've got a G26. If you want to meet somewhere, we could probably work that out.
1/29/2012 9:45:06 AM
you can get bolt guns that will shoot circles around the handi-rifle for about the same money
