Stuff like that is what makes sports special. Rarely in society would you see that combination of people with that combination of diverse backgrounds having a genuinely excited and memorable time like that for any reason at all. Maybe a wedding if everyone was drunk.

Best thing is how happy Cat looks. This time last year, most of us were just hoping he wouldn't transfer after the season. Dude will be preseason all ACC next year and Wooden award watch list barring NC State shit.

We had the 38 RPI after the UNC game with the #2 SOS and three top 15 wins (2 on the road). We were 28 on dancecard which has missed one tournament team in the past four or five years (us last year). After the UNC game, we would have to lose out to miss the tourney. Unfortunately, that's still a possibility.

If you looked at our resume we had a better "wins" resume than UNC at the time, just a few more losses. They were projected at a 5, so it made sense to have us at a 6. Because their algorithm includes the rpi and considering they apparently just pulled ours out of their ass for the current rankings...

Just glancing over it, ours appears to be the only insane aberration on the chart and the others seem to be more-or-less on point with other sites.

they use the old rpi before all the donk midmajor schools bitched about road games not counting separately so they could game the rpi

this is how you get mid majors with 35 rpis missing the tournament because the committee knows its bullshit

however, our rpi being in the 20s with 12 losses is also bullshit so that doesnt really help

I'm as pissed as anyone after this loss but it's not because we are out of the tourney. Of course we are still in as of now but on thin ice. I'm pissed because this team proved they are the same team as all year and that Gotts the same coach all his career.

All that is to say, he is what he is- great recruiter, terrible in game coach, and probably mediocre manager/program builder/all the other intangibles that come with coaching day to day.

Now I want to believe these losses and swings are just the result of youth. And that next year is our year. But I'm prone to think those are just the delusions of a state fan.

One bad loss doesn't wipe out the entire season. We still have two more regular season games and the ACCT. We beat Duke and UNC by double digits, and beat UNC in the dean's dome for the first time since 2003.

Its amazing the slobberfest that was going on after the UNC win and now nukkas are calling for Gott's head and balls.

BTW, BC put together coincidentally their best game of their shitty season against us. They have an atrocious looking record, but are better then what their record looks like which aint saying much.
