Netflix on the charge now
7/20/2011 4:43:10 PM
Let's just hope they don't charge another $7/month for "mobile" access.
7/20/2011 4:48:31 PM
just installed Webkey and it is leaps and bounds better than LazyDroid which is what I had been usingthis will come in handy when i'm in class and i get a text
7/20/2011 10:59:46 PM
i just installed Webkey too, its pretty neat
7/20/2011 11:35:09 PM
alright i can upgrade my phone w/verizon again now. i've been using the Droid and liked it. Droid X looks pretty good, but the Charge is probably the frontrunner atm. Any thoughts on the best Android phone currently, and if there's anything coming out soon that it'd be better to wait on?also, does Cary have LTE now too?[Edited on July 21, 2011 at 1:27 AM. Verizon has shit for handsets right now.
7/21/2011 1:37:56 AM
SwiftKey X is the free application today in the Amazon appstore, pretty good keyboard app
7/21/2011 7:04:56 AM
^^^ Droid Bionic if August 4th rumor is true. Galaxy S2 is also on the horizon. I'm getting whichever comes out first.
7/21/2011 7:34:18 AM
Finally netflix works on my droid 2 global

Of course my house is directly on a gradient between 4G and extended 4G.
7/21/2011 11:07:17 AM
Could be worse, my parents live just outside the extended 4G area for Wilmington so no 4G there but I can go a mile or two down the road and get decent signal. Disabled 4G this morning so see how the new leaked radio does on 3G and it's kind of nice not being able to see the battery drop every second.
7/21/2011 11:29:34 AM
7/21/2011 11:35:12 AM
I'm liking this keyboard
7/21/2011 12:39:25 PM
yeah i tried swiftkey and then i tried swype, going back to swiftkey. i love it
7/21/2011 12:59:08 PM
So, who's going to get the bionic?
7/21/2011 1:25:26 PM
I've got a Thunderbolt right now and an old Moto Droid that work gave me. Word is they're giving us Bionics when they are available.I'm pretty happy. BTW I got 4.5 MB/s down with the TB and 1 MB/s up. Best I ever get from my cable modem is 1.5MB/s down and 150KB/s up. 4G is pretty awesome.
7/21/2011 1:41:55 PM
7/21/2011 1:54:52 PM
yeah, I just put it in 3G only mode to see how much of a difference in battery life there would be.]
7/21/2011 1:58:56 PM
gotcha... i misread the
7/21/2011 2:09:15 PM
haha yeah. That was in response to my parents living just outside the wilmington coverage area. I barely get 400-500kbps when I go there.
7/21/2011 2:17:28 PM
Open Signal app is pretty nifty, shows what tower you're pulling from and has a speedtest optionhttp://tinyurl.com/3c5334r

for anyone who's interested, Sprint's currently buying back Evo 4Gs for $150 (via account credit). i'm doing it so I don't have to sell it...plus the charging port is loose and doesn't charge the phone 1/2 the time
7/21/2011 4:02:53 PM
^ besides the charging port, how did you like the evo? I might pick one up soon
7/22/2011 8:11:08 AM
The EVO is old as shit. Get a newer phone.
7/23/2011 10:35:47 AM
if you want a nice android phone for cheap, virgin mobile has a moto phone that is basically a sprint droid X for $300. then you can use the $25/month plan for unlimited data and 300min
7/23/2011 4:12:11 PM
got a droid magazine today .. when i saw it in the mail i thought it might be an early upgrade special like they sent me last year about this time, but no
7/23/2011 8:38:03 PM
I want my xoom to have 4g
7/24/2011 2:07:40 PM
I want my D2Global to have Gingerbread...although honestly I don't really care, seeing as how I'm rooted and Netflix finally workswould be nice if an upgrade from Froyo to 2.3 helped battery life though
7/24/2011 2:08:57 PM
i don't think i care if my thunderbolt gets gingerbread...i've declined all updates since stock to keep the mobile hotspot working (barnacle only supports ad-hoc and WEP, the included hotspot app does AP mode and WPA2)
7/24/2011 6:16:21 PM
^^It could. Gingerbread is a lot more efficient than Froyo, which is why it's faster.
7/25/2011 6:00:39 AM
7/25/2011 9:08:44 AM
So when is the Bionic being released? (I saw 8/3 earlier?)I just lost my OG Droid this weekend and debating on upgrading or waiting 3 months til I'm eligible for my upgrade.[Edited on July 25, 2011 at 11:17 AM. Reason : .]

About how many mb/min does Netflix use for smartphones?[Edited on July 26, 2011 at 8:05 PM. Reason : ]
7/26/2011 8:03:01 PM
^^^^ There are conflicting rumors. One leak said August 4th, another September. Most people think it's August.
7/26/2011 8:06:41 PM
If true, Bionic pwnt stay homehttp://www.droid-life.com/2011/07/27/verizon-support-claims-galaxy-s-ii-will-have-4g-lte/
7/27/2011 12:25:55 PM
came here to post that but as far as the bionic as competition...the galaxy s2 is still old hardware even if its high in demand. we don't even know what the bionic specs are but i'm hoping they make the decision easy.
7/27/2011 1:19:07 PM
The Galaxy S II is old hardware? If it has their Exynos dual core processor instead of the Tegra 2, it'll probably easily outdo anything on the market performance-wise. Super-AMOLED+ >>> pentile qHD BS, Touchwiz > Blur and then I'm sure the Bionic will still come locked. The only real issue there is Samsung's update track record and if the good developers are willing to go back to Samsung.Touchpal Keyboardhttps://market.android.com/details?id=com.cootek.smartinputv5&feature=search_result]
7/27/2011 1:29:30 PM
i'm buying the galaxy s2 if it comes out before the bionic, which seems highly likely at this point
7/27/2011 1:48:13 PM
oh so it's going to be different than the S II released back in april? why not just give it a name change...on wait, S II 4G Turbo EX: Championship Edition
7/27/2011 1:52:02 PM
oh, yeah, if it has 4G LTE, the bionic can suck iti've never used but motoblur and HTC sense, but i prefer sense over motoblur, so i imagine touchwiz will be betterand AMOLED+ >>>>>>>>> every other smartphone screen i've seen...that alone almost made me go with the charge
7/27/2011 2:31:53 PM
might be trying to cover a leak but VZWSupport clarified that they meant the Galaxy Tab, not the Galaxy S II...but that was already confirmed like last week so...
7/27/2011 5:01:19 PM
I am sick of my Thunderbolt and its completely awful battery life. I am thinking about just buying an older android device and selling my Thunderbolt while I can still get decent money for it. Any recommendations on something to switch to that has a better battery life and won't cost a ton to buy without a contract?
7/28/2011 3:16:11 PM
^I'm still pretty happy with my rooted Droid Incredible. I haven't really used the Thunderbolt but why is the battery life so bad? 4G or the stock ROM? Cause both of those can be fixed.
7/28/2011 4:55:57 PM
Thunderbolt's battery sucks because it is an HTC device
7/28/2011 5:07:17 PM
what do you guys think of the Photon?
7/28/2011 6:31:19 PM
Bionic delayed till September Motorola's delay is now Samsung's gain (and let's face it September will belong to Apple)
