I think Summers would have gotten a "fair shake"... but he'd probably be beaten-out by the depth that we have, and i imagine tob was honest with him about that, and told him that he was more likely to see the field as a safety or wide receiver. That's just how I think it went down.

probably the wrong thread, but i didn't see a general recruiting topic threadpretty sleazy: its being insinutated that Georgia and Florida head coaches attended a top 5* LB's grandfathers church and donated considerably to the collection plate.http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaaf-dr-saturday/mark-richt-looks-higher-power-help-land-top-182124028.html

that is most definitely not the first time that exact thing has happened.

Churches have been used as a front for paying recruits for decades.
2/3/2012 6:12:34 PM
Damn, didnt even think about UNC switching to a spread offense. We always get DESTROYED by spread offenses, and their pro style offense could never score on us.That's not good. If UNC goes from scoring 10 points a game to 40 points a game I don't see how we'll keep the streak alive. We've never stopped anyone with a spread offense before... Cincy, USF, Wake, Duke... hell even some D1-AA schools
2/3/2012 6:18:42 PM
Doesn't matter, they aren't our rivals.
2/3/2012 6:26:32 PM
We got beaten by GA Tech who runs a triple option spread. We destroyed Clemson who also runs a spread and we beat VA as well. I'm not concerned about the spread offense AT ALL. It's a popular thing right now in college football but I don't consider it a major threat when most schools that run it end up being no better or worse than teams that don't. Most of the time they can't sustain continued success with it. NC State has had issues with defending a spread option but overall, it isn't our kryptonite by any means.http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4327427ACCClemson: Spread Georgia Tech: Triple-option spreadVirginia: Spread Big 12Baylor: Spread passing offenseIowa State: Spread passing offense Kansas: Spread passing offenseMissouri: Spread passing offenseOklahoma State: Spread passing offenseTexas: Spread passing offenseTexas Tech: Air Raid passing offenseBig East Cincinnati: Spread South Florida: SpreadWest Virginia: Spread optionBig TenIllinois: Multiple spreadIndiana: Multiple spreadMichigan: Spread optionNorthwestern: Multiple spreadPenn State: Spread HDPurdue: Shotgun spreadConference USAHouston: SpreadMemphis: SpreadSMU: Run and shootSouthern Miss: SpreadTulsa: SpreadMACAkron: Spread/MultipleCentral Michigan: SpreadKent State: SpreadToledo: SpreadMountain WestBYU: SpreadUNLV: SpreadUtah: SpreadWyoming: SpreadPac-10Arizona: Air Raid passing offenseOregon: Spread optionSECAuburn: Multiple spreadFlorida: Spread optionMississippi State: Spread optionVanderbilt: Multiple spreadSun BeltArkansas State: Spread optionLouisiana-Lafayette: Spread optionLouisiana-Monroe: Spread optionMiddle Tennessee: Spread passNorth Texas: Spread passTroy: Spread passWKU: Spread optionWACHawaii: Run and shootNevada: PistolUtah State: SpreadI bolded the teams that I consider to be operating the spread successfully.Several of those have not really had sustained success. UVA runs a spread?

according to ESPN

Keep posting articles that are almost 3 years old.
2/3/2012 7:13:16 PM
which schools have changed?
2/3/2012 7:16:19 PM
A lot of the schools that have switched coaches/offensive coordinators. For example, Virginia (a team that has switched to a power running pro-style offense you highlighted as successful use of the spread). In the ACC, UNC and Maryland have switched to versions of the spread (UNC in concept, with the hiring of their new coach) with coaching changes. Wake runs a lot of spread. VT uses it more but probably not 75% of their offense.UVA runs a pro style offense.I'm not going through every conference.
2/3/2012 7:24:31 PM
I could have sworn that Virginia ran a modified spread pass on us when we played them. Either way, I didn't see that the article was 3 years old but most of those teams still run the spread or a modified version of that. I didn't include UNC because they didn't run the spread last year. I completely forgot about VT. I thought Wake ran more of a modified I. http://www.technicianonline.com/sports/acc-teams-specialize-in-different-types-of-offense-1.2641943#.Tyx9JMUS29U Either way, I still don't consider the spread offense a giant threat to NC State or to defenses in general. Some teams do it really well but most are no better than teams running a Pro-Set. That was my entire point.Mike Archer is a bigger threat than the spread.

pffft. unc won't have any clue how to run a spread. i'm not worried about next year. it's 2 or 3 years down the road where they could have this thing ready to go.
2/9/2012 4:52:49 PM
did those guys commit or did Fedora "talk" them into it? that was creepy. those guys looked uncomfortable too, like, why-is-this-older-man-hugging-the-shit-out-of-me uncomfortable
