droolyou guys are making me want to buy another bathing suitand I don't need one
3/25/2010 11:48:25 AM
ha i had like 40 when i was diving full time i won't discourage people from having too many suits!
3/25/2010 11:55:54 AM
3/25/2010 11:56:12 AM
I want a new suit too. And I need one considering I think I've gotten one new one in the last 4 years. I may just go really simple. I like this in grass green
3/25/2010 12:05:18 PM
do want
3/25/2010 12:31:33 PM
Yeah I figured that since I'm gonna actually be living at the beach this summer instead of just visiting and I will be in salt water and the sun a lot more then I need more than just two suits that I can alternate between. Salt, sand, and sun can really ruin a suit. It'll be a lot easier to buy suits if I lose enough weight to wear two pieces and just get mix and match suits so that I can just grab and go
3/25/2010 12:54:24 PM
sorry, no plan should hinge on "if i lose enough weight"
3/25/2010 1:13:46 PM
^ whyyyy?
3/25/2010 3:27:47 PM
^^lol...well I'm not gonna be walking about in a two piece with the body I have now. I have seen girls my size and bigger out on the beach in a two piece and I don't really want to make people have to feel like they need to avoid from staring and wondering why in the hell that girl is wearing that suit out there. When the strings of the string bikini disappear under folds of fat, it's not for you to wear.
3/25/2010 3:30:30 PM
isn't a two piece (or any article of clothing you'd like to wear) a good motivator for exercise?or is that just me haha
3/25/2010 3:31:11 PM
Yeah..I mean I'm not trying to show off my stretch marks and fat rolls....That's why I said if I lose enough weight then I'll get a two piece...then I will need to tan my belly, cause it hasn't seen the light of day since senior week of high school...then I will then feel confident enough to wear a two piece out and about.

I believe our focus as women should be on the health of our bodies, not the size label in your pants or what society dictates you can or can't wear. Is she giving herself a reasonable amount of time to get the result she hopes for? Is she going to lose the weight in a healthy or unhealthy way? I dont know the answer to either of those questions, but I think we should all focus on our health, not just how we look. We only get this one body, whether or not we can make it bend to our will, and to me, feeling comfortable in your own skin and being healthy is worth a thousand crash diets to make your body fit some physical object. Fashion is something we put outside of our bodies, so instead of us trying to make our bodies fit it, it should be made to fit our bodies. they make two pieces for big girls if you like to wear them, showing as much or little skin as you are comfortable with. It is WORTHLESS to worry about being castigated by strangers when you are in a BATHING SUIT. no matter what you do, it is going to show your whole body. might as well wear the style you like. Will so-and-so feel more comfortable if they lose 30 pounds in two months? maybe, but her flaws (even different ones) are probably still waiting for her at that weight too. they will feel better about themselves if they are strong and healthy in mind and body and accept themselves for who they are, too.i just think you might be expecting unrealistic results. if you lose the weight before swimsuit season, the stretchmarks will still be there, and you might have loose skin instead of rolls. you cant get a tan tummy unless you wear a two piece. you are never going to feel good about your body unless you do some inside work first, girlie.[Edited on March 25, 2010 at 3:46 PM. I'm not getting into this discussion, so back onto swim suits.I have the post preggo tummy still and some stretch marks (Going to try mederma's new stretch mark cream asap http://www.mederma.com/scars/stretch_marks) Anyway, I'm guessing I'll have to go with a tankini this summer so I was looking around at VS, though I've only gotten one suit from there before, and found a couple. I really like the bandeau tops because they show nice cleavage, but not too much but still have great support (Or at least my maternity one did!) So what do you ladies think of these styles, prints and bottoms to be determined later: (I do really like these bottoms but I wonder if they would look good on me...?) [Edited on March 25, 2010 at 3:50 PM. Reason : bottoms]
3/25/2010 3:49:06 PM
I like the 1st two
3/25/2010 3:50:06 PM
I knew you'd chime in Thanks!I really like the first one!
3/25/2010 3:52:29 PM
^^^^Lol...I am comfortable in my own body and I'm confident with who I am...I am just realistic...I'm working on getting healthy the healthy way. I've picked up my exercise and cut my calories, I haven't weighed myself in a while actually but I'm already down one size in my pants...It's not really that BIG of a deal that I am saying that I want to lose weight and have a better looking body before I put on a two piece. I'm not obsessed with my appearance which is obvious if you see me on an average day of my life.I like the design on the 3rd on the best[Edited on March 25, 2010 at 3:56 PM. Reason : ]
3/25/2010 3:53:55 PM
the first one is adorable...looks like there's some kind of ruffly thing going on w/ the bottom (or it may be the print deceiving me) and it's super cute
3/25/2010 3:54:08 PM
im liking the middle one! whoo
3/25/2010 3:55:14 PM
^^^ I'm just comparing styles right now. I'll decide on the pattern later. I can't figure out what kind of bottom is in #1 Skirted mini scoop?
3/25/2010 4:02:22 PM
oh okay well in that case I like the bottom of the first one the best and the top of the 3rd one the bestwait...are the tops all the same style?[Edited on March 25, 2010 at 4:05 PM. Reason : ]
3/25/2010 4:05:13 PM
Allie if you wanna go one piece - jcrew has some really really cute ones online and on sale
3/25/2010 4:17:34 PM
^^I don't think so, just very similar.^I like the idea of a tankini so that I can pull it up to tan the belly if I want to.
3/25/2010 4:22:25 PM
The second suit has a brief style bottom that will give you more coverage/support of the baby belly. I loooove the first one, but the bottom looks pretty low-rise! BUT if the top goes all the way down then I say go for it
3/25/2010 4:26:00 PM
i like suit #1
3/25/2010 4:43:21 PM
^
3/25/2010 4:43:47 PM
So my 3 favorite suits so far that I've seen here at work are:
3/25/2010 4:47:21 PM
I love that last one Diva
3/25/2010 4:49:04 PM
It's by Spanx too!!!I reaaaaaaaaaaaaaally want it!
3/25/2010 4:50:06 PM
i do not like any of those really. I like the colors of the first one but I would be worried that the top would come down. I like straps but I'm sure that comes from having big boobs
3/25/2010 4:51:04 PM
I had no idea that spanx did suits!!!!
3/25/2010 4:51:39 PM
The first two have straps but they're detachable...of course skinny Angela doesn't need them in the pic[Edited on March 25, 2010 at 4:52 PM. Reason : ^Yea girl! They're new this year. I know way too much about Spanx haha]
3/25/2010 4:51:53 PM
i have this weird desire to learn how to sewi want to alter & make my own clotheswtfalso i want to take a trip to hong kong and have a bunch of shit custom made for me. i'm told they can make shoes too and that's almost too much to resist!! i also wondered if they can do bathing suits. can you imagine a custom fitted bathing suit? drool..
3/25/2010 4:52:49 PM
Man the bathing suit would be loooovely!
3/25/2010 4:53:36 PM
Sounds like a good idea BUT then whatever isn't covered by the spanx kinda bulges out, no? That'd be my worry. And I have to say that even though I'm not thrilled with my body I think I have the perfect boob size for strapless suits. Not so small that they don't hold the suit up but not so big that the suit doesn't hold the girls up
3/25/2010 4:55:05 PM
Well they have nice leg openings that don't cut into ya and make a bulge. They really thought about the fit of a suit which is cool.Theres a couple tankinis as well as one-piece suits....even a two piece one I believe. They're really nice (and that's not me trying to sell it...I really want one)[Edited on March 25, 2010 at 4:56 PM. Reason : Ok I gotta go back on the floor]
3/25/2010 4:56:16 PM
I like that 2nd suit you posted!Oh and btw for all those that fear strapless suits...I used to have one two summers ago and unless you are diving into a pool that thing will stay up...I made the mistake of diving in a pool just once with it on...even in the ocean it will stay up.
3/25/2010 4:58:13 PM
The Spanx suits look awesome!
3/25/2010 5:05:04 PM
erica, i really like that 2nd one! SO CUTE
3/25/2010 5:06:34 PM
I liked it so much that I went to the website to see how much it was and then I was like I guess I don't like it so much anymore
3/25/2010 5:07:14 PM
AlliePaige I saw this one on the spanx website (thanks to DivaBaby19) and thought of youAs for me I'm starting to look at suits as well. *Sigh*
3/25/2010 5:36:22 PM
got this one in the mail today (so quick!) freaking ADORABLE on me
3/25/2010 5:41:47 PM
^^Thanks Jen
3/25/2010 5:44:00 PM
i'll start looking at suits when i lose 5lbs.
3/25/2010 5:44:40 PM
DivaBaby19 LOVE the first suit. those are super cute!i really need to go bathing suit shopping since we're going to florida in June. normally i just buy separates sporatically thoughout the year so i can mix and match. i can't remember the last time ANY bathing suit i owned actually matched.
3/25/2010 5:56:57 PM
and just to throw this out there - i dunno if it has been said but places like belk have HUGE swim suit sections and you can find decently priced suits. you have to try on a lot but you i have an esprit one from there that i loved for YEARS but the bottom is finally getting kinda thin!just as an alternative to jcrew, etc.p.s. why are bathing suits so expensive anyway?!
3/25/2010 6:09:10 PM
Yay!! Finally some NICE DD+ suits!!http://www.debenhams.combooo, none of my images work!![Edited on March 25, 2010 at 6:46 PM. Reason : links]

there is a sewing studio here in houston that will do beginner stuff an also private lessons. its pretty expensive though. i wish i lived closer to my grandma so she could mentor mei don't even have a sewing machine. i'm thinking of doing their sewing bootcamp. its 4 2 hour classes and you end up with a clutch, a tote and pj pants. that will at least get me into it enough to see if i care to learn more.i seriously spent like 3 hours on some sewing blog today marveling at all the cool shit this chick was making. i want to make clothes that fit me! ha
3/26/2010 2:02:22 AM
the last time i sewed was like in HS and my mom's sewing machine is kinda gangster and oldbut it would be cool to attempt to sew again. i feel like i have better style anyway. its def easy to buy simple shirts and "jazz" them up. that kind of brings to mind puff painting for some reason but that isn't what i mean haha. like with buttons and suchbut i would like to actually buy fabric and make a dress or something. i made one in HS but it was fugly. i'm good at making book covers and pillow cases haha - but those are really hard to fuck up.
