I think you people are insane, and that game could/should have been infinitely worse.one of, if not the, worst games by our quarterback in 2 years .... 2 fumbles... no offensive identity whatsoever .... and we lost by 7 points.I know ya'll wanna burn down the schoo.... but that seems a bit much.
10/3/2015 6:31:14 PM
^ Well that's what makes it so frustrating. If we had just played "meh" we would've easily won this game.
10/3/2015 7:34:25 PM
just got back from that wet shit showwe punted from our own 33.....
10/3/2015 8:02:15 PM
I believe you mean their 33, and yes, we shit all over the pisspoor coaching the whole game
10/3/2015 8:10:02 PM
you are correct. had it backwards
10/3/2015 8:13:31 PM
I've been making comments to my friends that we have looked very vanilla on offense through the first 4 games this year. But they would remind me that it's because we were playing weaker competition and the playbook would open up once conference games began. Well today was the same shit. Sure Jacoby was putting up amazing completion numbers, but that's not extremely difficult when every pass travels 5 yards down the field. He's like the college equivalent of Alex Smith of the Chiefs.I don't know if I'm more pissed at the fact we lost, or at the fact that we literally don't have anything positive to take away from the game
10/3/2015 8:24:10 PM
how would ya'll be melting down if we'd got taken to the fucking woodshed like Florida is currently doing to Ole Miss.

It was a winnable game where we turned it over twice, they didn’t turn it over once (despite Louisville giving State some chances), we didn’t run the ball with any sort of authority, out of nowhere we tried to become a passing team with intermittent rain showers passing through, and the coaches went soft. Punting inside your own 35 yard line means should mean you get an automatic loss once that decision is made. Especially with a freshman punter. The officials in Louisville’s final sustained drive in the 1st half absolutely gifted them a field goal, but in the end our offense decided to make sure that fact ended up irrelevant. Our offense looked really, really plain throughout the game, and Jacoby did not look very good. Ugly, ugly game.
10/3/2015 8:44:52 PM
Offensively, we've got to get Samuels the ball more. Where were the jet sweeps? Jacoby has got to complete a few throws down the field, or teams will continue to stack the box. He also looked a little shaky in the pocket today. He missed some throws, but that's going to happen on wet, windy days. His composure in the pocket was what worries me. I know UL has a good DL, but he's got to be a little more decisive back there.Defensively, our LBs were terrible all day covering the slot WRs. They burned us repeatedly on slants and posts over the middle. Our secondary wasn't bad today, but our LBs did nothing and took some bad angles on their big plays.

notre dame making me feel a little better... very similar dumpster fire... except that clemson is way better than louisville

WE ARE NC STATE!

I justb hope we beat wake at their place this year. Baby steps
10/3/2015 9:54:13 PM
Seemed like we got burned by that option play about a million times too.
10/3/2015 10:27:07 PM
I'll say that Doeren was in a no win position when he punted from the 33- Kick a FG? ahahahahaha- Go for it? On 4th and 10 with a QB who can't complete a pass over 3 yards? In a game where things already aren't going your way?- Punt from the 33? Where a good results was 25 yard punt?He was screwed regardless of options

Just finished watching recording of the game. Great game by our defense. I felt like I was watching a high school team when watching our offense. Our O-line was pretty pathetic and Brissett was awful. I have given Brissett time but unfortunately it seems he is nothing more than a bus driver. And he missed Hines deep a couple times, similar to how he missed Underwood every game last year.
10/3/2015 11:12:16 PM
wait, people are complaining about our crowd today?

ssclark's glass-half-full act is a bit tiredit's totally ok to call a shit effort a shit effortthat game was a shit effort in all 3 phases

At least, with our cupcake schedule, we will still find a way to make a bowl.
10/4/2015 2:14:59 AM
y'all NCSU fb fans are a dedicated bunch. The last time State was nationally relevant was during my freshman year in 2003. I mean, it's cool that y'all care or whatever, but why bother? At least State basketball teams make the NCAA tourney and have two sweet 16s in the last 5 years. I just can't see myself ever getting excited or upset about a State football game anymore. They've sucked, uninterrupted, for over a decade.

10/4/2015 9:13:34 AM
Well we have notre dame next year, that enough
10/4/2015 9:24:41 AM
our kicking game is about as bad as carolina's last year, that really changes the dynamic too
10/4/2015 10:22:21 AM
The kicking game sucks, and Jacoby definitely looked shaky yesterday, but I'm most frustrated with how our coaches seemed unable to change the game plan. With Shad gone and Dayes not having a great game (60+ yds and a fumble) it seemed like they put the game on Jacoby's shoulders so that he had to pass the ball for us to win. He's never been a great passer and it was clear that wasn't working out yesterday with how he missed a good number of throws in the 10+ yards range. It seemed like our drives commonly consisted of a long throw on 1st down, a stuffed run on 2nd down, and then a 3rd and long where Jacoby had to try and throw the ball again. I would've liked to see Samuels get some kind of carry between the tackles, and maybe some designed QB runs for Jacoby. It also doesn't make sense to me why Grinnage wasn't targeted more. Jacoby struggles with throws down the field, yet we've seemed unwilling to utilize our best TE so far this season (aside from those first couple of games where Grinnage was hurt).
10/4/2015 11:12:07 AM
louisville's defensive strategy was to load the box to shut down the run and play tight on short routes. if brissett hit any quick pass the wr would have been one move away from taking it to the house. he just made our guys dive or comeback for almost every catch. then there was the long one he hit on target in the 1st.

Brissett point shaving definitely crossed my mind. He was unusually bad.[Edited on October 4, 2015 at 2:30 PM. Reason : They'll play better next week though. This team isn't as bad as they showed in general.]
10/4/2015 2:29:37 PM
Belk bowl is still within reach.

After sitting through the game in person yesterday, and watching the replay again today, here's how I feel:1) Whether the righteous want to admit it or not, losing our pre-season all-ACC running back in the middle of the week hurt our ability to move the ball downfield. This isn't a slight against Dayes, he's a hell of a runner, but having that second option was a big part of our offensive threat. Losing that option hurt us more than a lot of people want to admit. But you know, moral high ground and all.2) The officiating in the 1st half was absolutely awful, and it destroyed our momentum every time we started building it. Did we make some mistakes, absolutely. But there were some things I saw flagged twice that I'm still scratching my head over. 3) Matt Canada needs help. I don't know what kinda help, maybe it's help out the door, but he needs a clue. Heaven forbid we throw a screen pass, Louisville was set up to bite on it all game. Or you know, maybe get the ball to Samuels more than 5 times. The offensive play calling was embarrassing. 4) Considering what they were asked to do, our defense did a pretty good job. We may not have gotten to their QB as much as we wanted, but we were certainly pushing them back plenty, and did a good job on most plays stopping the run. Our defense kept us in the game in the second half, our inability to win it is on the offense. 5) Hines is seriously good, and is going to be absolutely nasty in the long run for us. Very excited about him. 6) Brissett did not look 100% at all. He was consistently throwing behind receivers, or just inaccurate in general. He held on to the ball too long and his pocket presence wasn't as good as usual. Idk what was going on with him, but I really hope it gets fixed before VT because with ST gone we'll need to lean on him even more for the rest of the season. 7) The sky is not falling. Losing to Louisville isn't the end of our season, just the end of the ridiculous fantasy some had of us winning the division or the ACC. And even though some have convinced themselves otherwise, Louisville is not a bad football team. Just like we're not a bad football team. We went out and played a bad game. Most teams do that once or twice a season, yes even good teams (paging Notre Dame). 8) We have plenty of winnable games left. It's not unreasonable to think we can definitely win in Blacksburg and in Winston-Salem. We can beat Syracuse. We'll probably win one of FSU, Clemson, and BC because that's how we roll. At this point who knows about UNC; I don't think anyone knows what kinda football team they've got going on over there right now. An 8-9 win season before a bowl game is still perfectly obtainable, and that's progress over last season.
