Ok so here is my simple strategy to keeping loot.

* avoid having lots of gold, elixer and dark elixer at the same time
- I found if i have a substantial amount of two of the three at the same time I get raided full force
- try to alternate between saving for troop upgrade and defense upgrades, don't try and save for both
* spend gold on walls while saving up elixer
* spend excessive elixer on troops to raid when saving up for gold, try to spend it down
* put your town hall outside your walls when you are saving up, duh
* always attack after emptying collectors
- it took me a while to figure this one out. Your collectors are the honeypot that attracts big attacks. You want them to be empty when your base goes off shield. most players will just take the easy trophies and just take the exposed townhall. Lets say you have 4 hrs of shield left and you just emptied your collectors. If you don't blow the shield then your collectors will have built up resources when your shield does expire. You will have a higher probability of getting a full force attack.
* whenever you do get a chance to spend down all three resources to low levels, stick your townhall back inside your walls. You will increase trophies like mad. Its not uncommon for me to go up 50 trophies after doing this. You will get a lot of 1 barb raids where someone is just dropping trophies.
* I only attack a couple times a day, basically enough to stay at the same trophy level, i get back the few trophies i lose due to town hall snipers.

I'm up here in Masters 2 just upgrading walls every time I hit 1M gold or elixir, banking dark for hero upgrades. With TH in corner. Nothing but snipes. It's cool getting sniped by people in Champions League cause you only lose like 1 trophy.

^Not saving the Gold for defense upgrades? going for walls first? or you doing that so that you are less appealing showing empty coffers while you DE horde to upgrade heros, and after the DE upgrades are done, then you'll do the Gold upgrades...? I like that plan. Sounds pretty solid.

I figure at some point I'll just drop back down to gold league, THEN work on finishing my cannon/mortar/wiz/AD/teslas. But my current status works pretty good for upgrading wall. Already got 3 more today. Also, I don't know if I want to stay up here that long, but the gems from Champions would be pretty sweet. Think I need about 250 more.

And most of the traps are pretty cheap. 1.5m to max the red air bombs which I've done. 2m to upgrade black air bombs (done 1 of 4). 1.5m to upgrade regular bombs (2 in progress).

Only bad thing is you rarely see anything less than a TH9, so I'll have a blast once I get back in gold league, or even silver

We just won a 15 v. 15 war 38-1. The other clan only attempted two attacks. I'm not sure why they went to war in the first place unless they looked at our clan and decided they didn't like the match-up.

thoughts / strategies for the new stuff?

just dicking around I found that if you drop a bunch of those wall breaker spells you can tunnel a straight path wherever you want. might be useful for GoWiPe and GoWiWi on some maps. You can actually use them to "zap" buildings more effectively than with lightning (like the TH).

I've also heard that loons and speed spells are great.

How do yall attack in clan wars? My attack strategy needs some work. Or maybe the last army camp upgrade from 220 to 240 housing. Right now I am struggling with:

1 - bait out clan castle troops over an air defense
2 - use lvl 5 lightning spells(3) to kill^
3 - lvl 1 Lava Hounds (2) on air defense
4 - lvl 6 balloons and lvl 5 minions, + 2 rage spells
5 - lvl 5 heroes to finish town hall if possible, or 50% bonus.

I had stuck with 11 lvl 4 dragons for clan wars but it doesn't do the job either.

If you're a TH10 with level 5 heroes, you need to upgrade them. I've got Level 14 King (a few days until Level 15) and Level 10 Queen and I'm TH9.

I suck with Hounds (for now at least) so I usually do GoWiPe in wars. Fairly easy to get 2 stars but the 3rd is tough.

Champions is easy if you have the patience to Next and Next and Next and Next until you find an unprotected Town Hall to snipe. Then make sure to bring plenty of giants in case it's tesla trapped

And I highly recommend leaving your own TH unprotected if you're pushing trophies. You'll have a lot of TH8s come and snipe you for a shield. Whereas if you try and protect your base, the TH8 guys pushing for the achievement gems will skip your base, but some maxed out TH10 will 3 star your shit with a war army.

I'm waiting to upgrade heroes last, even though they are the only offense+defense upgrade outside of clan castle, they are just too slow at providing a benefit compared to the other upgrade options.

Witches seem to be the go to for the maxed out players... I may save up for that. I actually got 100%'ed recently by a witch attack, which is absurd given the time limit and amount of buildings TH10 has.

Heroes make a huge difference on offense and defense. maybe not level by level, but every five levels you can definitely tell. I have every troop I use maxed out but my heroes are level 10 and 11. Guys will wipe out my base with 20-25 level heroes and I'm hesitant to attack bases with heroes that high level. It's a grind, but it's what separates the top from the middle.

I've got max healers and have been using 4-6 healers and my lvl 7 AQ to get some awesome loot. I don't know why I haven't been doing this sooner...

This tactic has really inspired me to upgrade my AQ right after I finish up with lvl 2 lavahounds and lvl 3 golem.

TT does grind like a MF. I used to grind about 35-40 hours every week, but now I'm only on about 4 hours every week. He's a skilled player for sure, and at my old pace, it was all I could do to keep up with him.

I got her to level 10 before I did any other DE upgrades at TH9. I might not recommend that, but definitely want to have her at Level 5 ASAP.

I just found out there's a level 5 clan called "no walls" devoted to bases with, well, no walls. I want to start another account and see how far I can get with no walls and just the level 1 cannon you have to build during the tutorial.

seen some other troll type stuff where you rush your town hall to 9 or 10, with all level 1 walls, no upgraded defenses, except the hidden teslas and traps, then you just troll people down in bronze and silver. like level 7 teslas and infernos with wooden walls.

How have clan wars been going for everyone since they tweaked how matches were made a while back? I was in a clan with like 30+ straight wins, then constant losses after the tweak. Tried other clans, but it seems like we always lose.

Checked out a friend's clan...nothing but losses for the past 3 months!

We've lost 2 of the last 3 or maybe 3 of the last 4. Lots to do with lack of participation though. Just hit clan level 6 last night, but once we hit 5, we got a lot of tough matchups.

I've got maxed out dragons, balloons... only other air units I need to upgrade are lava hounds and minions. I don't see how people can put dents in these maxed out bases. I have almost maxed out armies and get lucky with 2 stars on a shitty TH lvl 10.

You see more clan castles with dragons, balloons, valks etc and a lot less witches and wizards because of the Poison spell.

I'm a big fan of 4x Earthquake spells to destroy all the walls in the area of the spell. Makes Super Queen strategy easier.

Haven't used the Haste spell as much as I thought I would. But I've obviously not had it as long as the first 2 either.

I really only use the wall buster spell. they're really handy for getting through walls or finishing off the TH or other structures when they're hanging on by a thread.

I've Been playing for 386 Days as of Today. I've been in The Big House Clan for about 250 Days.

The Big House could use some solid players. Only requirement (really) is to be able to war Wednesdays and Saturdays and get both of your attacks in. I don't do air attacks at all anymore. I stick to a fairly traditional GoWiPe and usually get 2-3 stars, even on their top guys (I'm #2 in my clan). I wish my heroes were higher level.

GoWiPe:
4 Pekkas (max)
2 Golems (max)
18 Wizards (max)
4 Breakers (max)

Level 10 King
Level 11 Queen

1 Jump (level 1 )
1 Rage (max)
2 Freeze (max)
2 Haste (level 1)
1 Poison (level 1)

Clan Castle with 1 max golem, 1 wiz, one archer.

Sometimes I'll use two jumps depending on their walls and defenses if I just need to get to center quickly.

Pretty much everyone is using Dragon and Balloons in their CC now (sometimes minions too). It's really annoying if you can't pull the CC.

I also don't raid or gem anymore. I just don't have time and don't want to spend real money on this shit. I just collect resources once or twice a day and participate in war.

Been doing lavaloon, usually with a golem and jump and a few wiz to take out Queen and cc. Or gohog if 8 need 3 stars while Queen is upgrading. Almost had a 3 star with eq hogowiwi last war but got disconnected with 3 defenses left before I could use Queen ability and deploy last few hogs and wiz.

I usually use GoWiPe as well in wars. It is generally effective. Certainly the new spells have changed the strategy and what is place in war castles.

A lot of times you can turn a GoWiPe from a 2 star into a 3 star, if you free up an extra 40 or 50 housing spaces (maybe 1 less PEKKA, a few less wiz, etc) and add some max hogs or balloons to cleanup defenses on the backend.

I've been raiding up in Masters with:

2 lvl 4 Golems
4 lvl 2 Witches
11 lvl 5 Wizards
11 lvl 5 Hogs
3 lvl 6 Archers
2 lvl 5 Giants
Clan Castle - either a max golem or 6 max giants

1 max Heal
1 max Rage
4 Earthquake spells (lvl 2)
1 Poison spell (lvl 2)

Drop the EQs to open up entry into the base, preferably opening multiple compartments.
Drop Golems with wiz and witches behind
Drop Heroes once funnel is created by wizards so they don't go around outside
Use Poison, Heal and Rage once troops encounter enemy CC
Once a good bit of base is destroyed, drop 1 giant on 2 different back sides of base, followed by 5-6 hogs to take out rear defenses. Giants temporarily tank for Hogs.

Got a nice 500k gold 450k elixir 2500 dark 3 star on a TH9 earlier today, plus league bonus

It's not easy. A lot has to go right. And a lot of times something like GoWiPe, while it rarely 3 stars, is reliable for 2. Stuff like Lavaloon or GoHog CAN get 3 stars if things go right, but can also end up with 0 or 1.

It's all about upgraded heroes I think. Which take fucking forever.

Early on (where you are), you want to raid for resources, and not even pay attention to getting "stars" or trophy count. Just try and get lots of gold and elixir so you can upgrade all your buildings and troops. Try and max out everything (buildings, troops, walls) before you upgrade your Town Hall. Also, don't spend gems on stuff like making an upgrade happen faster. Save gems to at least get your 3rd builder. You can get gems for free by clearing rocks and bushes and stuff.
