i have played the hell out of candy claws the last couple of weeks. such a great album. "fell in love (at the water)", in particular, is one of my favorite tunes of the year.
8/27/2013 12:37:50 AM
yep. Definitely one of my favorite albums this year. 3 of my top 5 this year so far are from artists I was not highly anticipating albums from but then they far exceeded my expectations. It's actually been kind of refreshing that way. Candy Claws definitely grew on me. I liked it at first but it grew on me with each listen.

Simultaneously surprised and not surprised that the Sarah Neufeld album is all solo violin. Really pretty stuff, although I don't know what else to say about it.Drumgasm is a dumb thing to be a record. Hilariously dumb, but still dumb.Zola Jesus rearrangement record is also really pretty, but also a rearrangement record.
8/28/2013 11:14:02 PM
terrible, terrible band name (or awesome band name depending on how you look at it), but i'm way into this Diarrhea Planet record
8/29/2013 7:17:32 PM
new King Khan rules btw
8/29/2013 8:06:12 PM
Drumgasm is hilarious and probably not wise to enter a solo with Zach Hill, because he's all I hear on that record
8/29/2013 10:26:32 PM
Weasel Walter > Zach HillI'm Krallum and I approved this message.
8/30/2013 10:41:41 AM
zach hill is totally a better drummer than w.w., but he wasn't in lake of dracula so it doesn't matter.
8/30/2013 11:57:58 AM
ooh, i look forward to hearing king khan's
8/30/2013 12:18:56 PM
The Dismemberment Plan, Mansions, Into It. Over It., Russian Circles are the main releases left I'm anticipating most so far. I'm sure I'm missing some but those are the ones staying on my radar so far.
8/30/2013 2:33:46 PM
Everything Weasel has been in is better and that's coming from a Mick Barr obsessor I'm Krallum and I approved this message./]

Tech Nine something elsereal decent. I usually cant take tech b/c he takes odd times to preach to you. if he didnt talk about all the time how he isnt mainstream he would be mainstream.
8/31/2013 6:35:46 PM
new neko
8/31/2013 10:59:00 PM
holy fvcking shit, chvrches. literally every song on it has potential as a single.new holy ghost! is also highly enjoyable. the weeknd LP was a snoozer for me on first listen.
9/5/2013 2:40:05 AM
Hesitation Marks has some good stuff but wow "Everything" makes me cringe
9/5/2013 3:16:49 AM
Forgot to mention my anticipation for a new Mew album - although I have heard nothing about it since they said they were going into the studio back in May...
9/5/2013 8:07:25 AM
so Two Door Cinema Club went all in with the Postal Service rip off on Changing of the Seasons
9/5/2013 9:36:50 AM
^eh. i don't think it's nearly minimalist enough to sound too much like Postal Service. if anything it sounds too much like one of their own songs they've already released, "Next Year." i like TDCC though, they're really fun for what they are. i still rock tourist history every now and again

Listened to that Chrvches stream last night and really enjoyed what I heard. I will buy it and listen to it more when it comes out for sure.Mansions album confirmed for Nov 12th. The Dismemberment Plan Oct 15th.Into It. Over It. out Sep 24th. Russian Circles Oct 29thFinally bought Haken's The Mountain as well. Pretty killer prog rock record.I wasn't really expecting a huge year musically, but I ended up buying a ton of records this year (which is big for me because I usually stream albums first and decide if I want to buy). Most albums I was looking forward to lived up to expectations and, even better, I had a lot of good surprises this year.

9/20/2013 1:08:54 PM

9/20/2013 1:19:59 PM
New video for Drive Home by Steven Wilson. Pretty cool animation.
9/20/2013 3:30:29 PM
9/20/2013 4:32:14 PM
you can't buy the official release yet. the one in stores is a pre-release with no album art
9/20/2013 4:35:09 PM
Gotcha. All I've seen is spinning records on Instagram, so I never saw art/lack of it.
9/20/2013 4:39:49 PM
finally listening to the new Arctic Monkeys album, about halfway through and liking it so far
9/23/2013 2:20:05 PM
^ 100X better than Suck It and See
9/23/2013 2:25:27 PM
I liked Suck it and See, but this one is definitely better. I'd say a close second behind their first in my favorite Arctic Monkeys album rankings.
9/23/2013 4:35:37 PM
^agreed. This album is great after 15x play through. Been my go to for the past week
9/23/2013 11:21:38 PM
after a couple misses i'm really enjoying the new Deer Tick album.
9/25/2013 10:50:13 AM
^definitely much better than Divine Providence. Still not as good as their older stuff.

Seams is really good. And The Field's new album is also really good. Black Sea is my fav
10/3/2013 12:56:26 PM
The first Yuck album was one of my favorites from 2011, but I'm halfway through the new one and I'm not entirely sure it isn't a Matchbox 20 cover album.
10/3/2013 4:57:54 PM
Haven't heard it yet, but the first one sounded like Gin Blossoms (in the very best way).
