Not blaming Hurney for this one but in hindsight we would have been better off trading down last year instead of selecting Cam.Follow me:Trade down to select Patrick Peterson. Acquire an extra draft pick or two. With Clausen starting we win another 0-2 games last year and still get a top two draft pick. Select Luck/RGIII. Also, since we don't need a KR/PR we "acquire" an additional 4th rounder this year by not having to burn a pick on a return guy who can't play any other position.Had we done this we'd have the best pair of starting CB's in the league instead of the crap we have now. We would have finally solved the PR woes that have plagued us the last several seasons b/c Peterson is a stud there too. And we'd still have a great looking young QB to build around with an additional year to put talent around him while he's $5MM/season. Again, this is mostly in hindsight. I was really high on Peterson in the draft, but no one could have predicted he'd become an elite CB this quickly. It would have been nearly impossible to draft a CB over a QB in this situation, especially since no one knew that RGIII would be out there this year too.

LOL
9/23/2012 11:20:43 AM
Well we should have another top 10 pick this season. Hopefully we'll have a high enough pick to get the top OL available.
9/23/2012 12:00:50 PM
good thing face isn't running the Panthers.
9/23/2012 12:35:02 PM
you act like hurney still wouldn't fuck up the drafts.
9/23/2012 12:41:35 PM
I thought face already had a thread where he was gonna spout off his nonsensical bullshitOh wait, that's every thread in Sports Talk
9/23/2012 12:54:26 PM

I don't get it. What's the hello kitty signify, and why is the thought bubble relevant or necessary to the picture? If there was no thought bubble I would take the cartoon to mean that Cam/the Panthers like to act tough but are actually soft, but with the bubble it's just confusing.
9/26/2012 11:41:19 AM
i think its just making fun of him doing a me-first celebration when he scores and cuts the deficit to 23-6
9/26/2012 11:45:06 AM
so fucking stupidI think they're referring to the rumors that he was going to get a "mind coach", but even that is a stretchOvies summed it up best with "Charlotte so wants to be a big boy city"
9/26/2012 11:46:09 AM
so we get to have it handed to us by the Falcons this weekend. this should be a great watch
9/26/2012 5:13:17 PM
it has all the makings of an upsetone team riding super high and the other super low [Edited on September 26, 2012 at 5:25 PM. Reason : meh]
9/26/2012 5:20:44 PM
falcons are obviously playing better than they were last year, but iirc without looking it up, both times they beat us last year was by one possession in the 4th quarter on Turner touchdownsdoubt we win, but should be close, as lots of these division games usually areeven though we havent won in the Georgia Dome since 07[Edited on September 26, 2012 at 6:37 PM. 9/26/2012 6:36:55 PM
^^lol, thanks Dan Dierdorf.
9/26/2012 6:51:25 PM
^^^ ding ding ding... this SHOULD be a complete ass beating by the Falcons. Their offense is unstoppable so far, defense is stepping up big time and the Panthers just havent looked "right" this year (the Saints win isnt looking that good now), so of course, in the NFL, that means the Panthers will win by 20
9/26/2012 7:02:03 PM
totally expected the line to be bigger as well
9/26/2012 7:27:57 PM
ummm the good life, in case you haven't noticed Charlotte is a big city. just sayin
9/27/2012 3:01:33 AM
Lol, if we the Panthers (a bottom 5-10 team in the league) beat what is at the moment the best team in the NFL (Atlanta) by 20 points on the road no less.... A team that has dominated us dating all the way back to three years after Encino Man was playing in theatres around the nation...I will donate half this weeks pay to the Obama Campaign for Economic Oppression[Edited on September 27, 2012 at 7:15 AM. here's Stephen A. Smith's idiotic and racist take on the Cam Newton cartoon http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=espn:8431403btw, because so many national media people have spent hours scrutinizing and obsessing over an editorial cartoon, this is what the editorial cartoon's actual artist/author said it was, which is pretty much what i said earlier
9/27/2012 11:00:48 PM
stephen a. smith is such a caricature
9/27/2012 11:11:35 PM
^^honestly, i don't really see how that cartoon could be taken any other way than what the artist/author said. seems pretty obvious to me. i don't even understand stephen a. smith's "racism" argument. he never says how it is racist in that clip you posted. i don't get that at all.[Edited on September 27, 2012 at 11:35 PM. if stephen a. smith didnt' stir the pot he would be out of work. the dude is a total clown and another reason i find my sports information from other sources.
9/28/2012 7:49:13 AM
ugh, I cant stand Stephen A. Smith. Putting his idiotic thoughts and comments aside, his voice really grinds my gears
9/28/2012 8:52:48 AM
he's the black Skip Bayless
9/28/2012 8:55:24 AM
I've never understood why anyone gives a shit what either one of them say. I've unfollowed several folks on twitter for retweeting their asinine comments and posts getting riled up about something they said.
9/28/2012 10:31:53 AM
Stephen A. Smith's opening line:
9/28/2012 11:58:32 AM
Haha ... I literally laughed out loud when I read that.Stephen A would be a lot easier to tolerate if you knew he was just playing a character. But he's not. He is really that retarded.
9/28/2012 3:38:55 PM
about the referee labor negotiations after monday night...not surprised in the slightest
9/28/2012 3:59:55 PM
I especially like how Stephen A. was ranting about how it is completely unacceptable for anyone in "White America" (his words) to make ANY statements or judgments about how anything is or is not racist, but somehow it's okay for him to make broad, sweeping statements which seemingly declare how ALL African American men feel about a specific issue.So.... any one white individual isn't allowed to express their own opinion or interpretation of an issue, yet he's allowed to impose his individual opinion as that of an entire demographic of people?I suppose he's doing his job, after all we're talking about him. doucher.[Edited on September 28, 2012 at 4:19 PM. Need help TWW.2 years ago I went to a Panthers game via Amtrak railgating. Somewhere between the train drop off spot and BoA stadium we found a massive tailgate party that charged 10 bucks a cup. For the price of this cup you got a ridiculous spread of food, access to 3 kegs, and a full open bar. Had to have been 250 people here.Does this tailgate still exist? If so, where is it?
9/29/2012 8:26:45 PM
Yes it still exists.
9/29/2012 10:20:27 PM
thats pretty sweet
9/29/2012 10:28:01 PM
where the fuck is it then
9/29/2012 10:53:40 PM
