If by ” what he did for the team” you mean what stephen davis (followed by deshaun foster, williams, et al) did, what the defense did and what steve smith did after catching a pass in the flats. Then yeah, I can't really overlook that.

how bout his comeback versus the Jags in week 1 of that season? down 17(?) at halftime, Fox pulls Rodney Peete and puts in the goofy kid from Louisiana to throw 3 TDs including the game winner to Ricky Proehlor how about him linking up with Muhsin Muhammad for the longest TD pass in Super Bowl history?I know its all about "what have you done for me lately" which for Jake, was the Cardinals game and the Eagles game the next year, but the guy was the QB on our Super Bowl teamyeah the defense, Stephen Davis and John Kasay led us to the Super Bowl, but somebody had to get Smitty the ball...we didn't even start doing that WR screen to Smith until the next season
5/23/2012 5:32:19 PM
had fox not suffered a brain aneurysm in the 08 playoffs, delhomme probably would have made another SB
5/23/2012 5:36:01 PM
not saying these replace many of the above moments but also a few good ones1) Sam Mills INT for a TD vs the Jets for our first win in '952) Beating the 49ers in '95 to move to 4-5. Made Rice fumble at the 1 yard line3) Beating the Cowboys in 96 injuring Deion and Irvin.4) Destroying New Orleans in 2000 and almost making the playoffs because we were in a potential tie-breaker involving point differential.5) Steve Smith KO return TD in 2001 in his first game as a Panther (before we lost the next 15 haha)6) Jeff Lewis throwing 4 straight INT's in a preseason game 7) The Chris Weinke game where he threaded the defense for the game winning drive as a fill in for injury8) The Atlanta game where we played without a QB and invented the Wildcat by running all over ATL9) Drafting Tim Biakabutuka over Eddie George (sorry had to)10) The time we beat Tampa by blocking their Extra Point with like 2 seconds left to force overtime.11) Honorable mention: anything Lamar Lathon ever did. Especially hurdling that OL for a preseason sack. [Edited on May 23, 2012 at 5:48 PM. Reason : a]

the XP was definitely jenkins and i think he's right about the FG too. He was a kick blocking machine for awhile.Hard to believe Scouts, Inc had Jenkins ranked as the 2nd best overall player in the NFL (behind Manning) back then. Sucks he had all those injuries, depression, alcoholism, and sleep apnea to drag him down.
5/23/2012 5:52:16 PM
10) The time we beat Tampa by blocking their Extra Point with like 2 seconds left to force overtime.that shit was awesome, I never laughed so hard. Though, I came close that year in week 17 all NO needed to do was make an XP to either get to OT or win the game and they missed it and got knocked out of the playoffs

Delhomme pick-6 by Revis off Smith's foot

2005 Opener against the Saints after Katrina. We got royally screwed in that one several times
5/23/2012 8:56:22 PM
fighting back from 1-7 to 6-7 in 2004 only to be screwed against the Falcons about Vick not being down, then still having a chance to win and youre in and blowing it to the Aints in the last game. I seem to remember a 60+ yard fg attempt by Kasay in that game that was missed horribly and we lost by 3
5/23/2012 8:59:25 PM
that last Saints game was the same Sunday that Nate Robinson had that sick putback dunk at the RBC Center for Washington

2004 and 2005 were pretty fun though. Nick Goings leading the rushing attack after Davis and Foster went down. Tutan Reyes Tutan Reyesoh oh oh Tutan Reyes

Alex Smith talking shit
5/24/2012 9:31:58 AM
Alex Smith has tiny hands
5/24/2012 10:30:37 AM
Indeed

5/25/2012 9:13:51 AM
I now hate the 49ers
5/25/2012 9:18:43 AM
Oh my god is he serious?!? Is Alex Smith implying he's the reason they won? Is he implying the Panthers would have been good with the worst defense and the worst special teams in the league if he were the quarterback??What is going on here? Of ALL the people to say this we get a guy who has played like crap his entire career having his first MEDIOCRE season and being carried by an elite defense, the #1 special teams in the league, and one of the worst divisions in history to the playoffs. We're talking about a guy who only completed ONE pass to a WR in the NFC championship game.I'm not saying Newton was light years better than Alex Smith last season but I'm not sure I'm buying that we were an Alex Smith away from being Super Bowl contenders. That quote sounds like something Treetwista would've said about Lebron not having any rings compared to Derek Fisher's five.
5/25/2012 12:56:17 PM
when you can't win an argument, compare role players to superstars to make your pointi don't compare Trent Dilfer to Dan Marino...I compare Tom Brady and Joe Montana to Dan MarinoI compare Lebron to Jordan and Kobe and Russell...not Horry or Kerr]
5/25/2012 12:57:58 PM
Cool, Jordan won his first title when he was 28.
5/25/2012 1:08:53 PM
that was absolute perfection from BeasonSHOTS FIRED
5/25/2012 1:31:52 PM
did Smith say anything that wasn't true though?stats are sexy, but they don't mean shit if the team proves to be the worst team in the history of organized football. at least Lebron won a lot of games on a horrible Cavs team
5/25/2012 2:15:49 PM
here's the full passage of what he saidhttp://lockerz.com/s/211605748
5/25/2012 2:20:02 PM
in that case, Smith's statement was spot-on
5/25/2012 2:23:10 PM
fun fact:Alex Smith has as many 300+ yard games in his entire career as Cam Newton has 400+ yard games in his first two career starts
5/25/2012 2:41:07 PM
5/25/2012 3:13:42 PM
fun fact:Smith has thrown 17 INTs in his last 31 games
5/25/2012 3:15:21 PM
Sampson!
5/25/2012 3:34:42 PM
ahhh the off season...Where tebow's minicamp ints and Alex Smith's meaningless comments are subject to the highest levels dissection.
5/25/2012 3:52:11 PM
5/25/2012 4:36:09 PM
I mean it's not like Alex Smith is an efficient passer and that's why they are winning games. It's like when that assclown Craig Krenzel always played the "I'm 22-1 as a starter" line. Dude your team is stacked you are the ONLY weak link. Look how much talent they wasted at WR during his career. If he was any good people would still be talking about those OSU teams.
5/26/2012 12:44:22 AM
ha, apparently Patrick Willis tweeted this, "defending" his QB
5/27/2012 7:45:38 PM
I find it hilarious that delhomme-worshiping panthers fans are talking shit about alex smith.
5/28/2012 8:25:15 AM
Cam has been in the league for 1 year and improved the team by 4 games with a depleted defense. Alex Smith has been in the league for 7-8 years and finally made the playoffs on the back of his much-maligned defense. That's an unfair comparison. Alex Smith can suck my balls.
5/28/2012 10:28:07 AM
i don't think you know what "much maligned" means
5/28/2012 11:01:21 AM
Hahaha...^ I, too, read that and was like "I don't think that means what you think it means..."
5/28/2012 11:04:05 AM
I, too, read that and just assumed maybe I didn't know what it meant
5/28/2012 11:07:44 AM
It should be much-benigned.
5/28/2012 3:33:03 PM
Delhomme made a Pro Bowl and a Super BowlAlex Smith...will never make a Pro Bowl
5/28/2012 3:37:20 PM
oh please.when delhomme was playing in the NFC a goddamn chicken could have made the pro bowl at QB.
5/28/2012 3:44:11 PM
he beat out McNabb, Bulger, Culpepper, etcand he threw for more yards and more TDs than Alex Smith ever has
5/28/2012 3:51:50 PM
shit i forgot, mcnabb is supposed to be in the hall of fame.also, the rams & iggles were both 6-10.also, literally all 6 AFC pro bowl qbs from that year were better than any of the NFC pro bowl qbs.also, CULPEPPER BLEW OUT HIS KNEE THAT YEAR[Edited on May 28, 2012 at 3:58 PM. Reason : .]
