I have seen it once and did not really care for it.

So my mom just dragged me to see this, I wanted to see the new Steve Carrel movie but I let her have her way. Neither of us knew anything going in. I liked it. There were a lot of questions I had and I thought it was really strange there were soooo many famous actors/actress for just a B scifi movie. I'm also kinda surprised this thread is 13 pages, I'll have to read it some.

lindelof's shit worked with lost because lost was always about the characters. you could suspend disbelief and sort of turn your brain off even when things got ridiculous because you cared about jack, locke, ben, sawyer, sayid, etc. prometheus isn't like that. none of the characters are interesting, and it's hard to give a shit about any of them.
7/1/2012 12:08:29 AM
ding ding ding we have a winner.
7/1/2012 9:42:11 AM
I think I cared more for the cat in the original Alien then I did for just about every character in Prometheus.

http://whatculture.com/film/prometheus-20-blunders-that-ruined-the-film.phpFun read about all the stupid in this filmOne thing I have found on here and the IMDB boards, is that all of the fan boys are using the same tactic when defending this movie. Basically, any point that is made to point out a plot hole, or bad writing, lack of exposition, or just plain stupid nonesense, is explained away by the fan boys by some explanation of which there is no basis in the movie. They read soooooo far into things, and pull out explanations that are just guesses or there own made up theories. I mean I understand a movie leaving something up to interpretation, but I think its rediculous for defenders to try and explain away character motivations or plot points without any basis whatsoever. The movie needed just a little bit more exposition before you can assume all of these stupid explanations.[Edited on July 5, 2012 at 2:30 PM. Reason : .]

#4 (“I don’t – it’s what I choose to believe.”) still pisses me off every time I think about it. It was Scott and Lindelof giving the finger to science. And calling Evolution "Darwinism" was more of the same.also nail on the head:
7/5/2012 2:47:47 PM
the only thing I can think could defend the unanswered questions is that they will be answered in the sequelbut if the sequel answers every single plothole from the first one, it will just be another shitty movie
7/5/2012 2:59:53 PM
^ well, if lost is any indication...
7/5/2012 3:25:40 PM
I saw this yesterday. I'm sure it's been pointed out, but I went to see this based solely on the old siren from the trailer. WHERE THE FUCK WAS IT?]
7/5/2012 11:31:59 PM
Finally saw this last night and I enjoyed it, despite the glaring plot holes and 'what the fuck' moments. After readin the comments in this thread I agree with a lot of you who pointed out the inconsistent writing, etc. Out of all the crazy, belief suspended moments in this movie, the one thing that kept sticking out to me was how much physical stress Shaw encountered after having the c-section. Small, simple movements would've ripped the incision back open and she was running, jumping, stretching and getting thrown around everywhere just minutes later. Also, what was the point of the writers making the surgery pod male only? Just to add some tension for a few seconds while she did the manual override? I understand why it could be male only (even though you would think a machine with those capabilities and price tag would work for both genders) for Weyland, but it didn't really add anything to the story by pointing that out. Perhaps they wanted to show that Weylands life is paramount to the mission?
7/10/2012 10:38:20 AM
I think that point was revealed to make a sly indication that Weyland was still alive before we knew it. Nothing major, but I did find it slightly interesting. But yes, a machine like that should be able to work on both male and female.
7/10/2012 4:35:09 PM
of all the nitpicking the machine should be low on our list. they said VERY few existed, so it is safe to assume this is fancy/expensive/new tech so having it configured for one gender isnt too far out of the realm of possibility.

I really hope for the same, but with the talks of a third already in the planning, methinks this might be another more-questions-than-answers ordeal in order to dangle the carrot for the next installment. I really hope they will at least answer the questions that lingered from the first.[Edited on August 6, 2012 at 3:30 PM. Reason : ]

sounds like they are taking lessons from the matrix crew.
8/6/2012 5:32:07 PM
Yeah it makes sense because prometheus doesnt really need a sequel. Just how matrix also didnt need a sequel.

For anyone that still cares, looks like there is a possibility that we will get an extended version despite what Scott has been saying to the contrary. The info along the left side says 2:04, but the timebar says 2:39, matching up with previous information that 35 additional minutes were cut for the theatrical release.

So I bought the DVD. Scott spills the beans about why the engineers wanted to destroy the humans: It IS because the humans killed their Space Jockey Jesus.I enjoy having this on DVD though, cause there is a bunch of stuff that I did not pick up on in the theater. I am still unsure as to the origin of the Alien. Was the alien at the end the first Xeno ever? Or is that just to show where they come from?
10/13/2012 3:59:48 PM
wow, the Jesus theory confirmed makes this movie exponentially more retarded.
10/13/2012 4:34:37 PM
It should come to no surprise.
10/13/2012 4:59:53 PM
^^^ The xeno at the end was not the first one. There is artwork in the ship that depicts Xenos (in the room with the canisters of black goo).
10/13/2012 5:07:07 PM
wait. wait. WAIT.The whole Jesus H. Christ was a secret space jockey and when some sand farming Jews and Romans killed him the Engineers got pissed off hypothesis was correct?!Are you fucking shitting me? [Edited on October 13, 2012 at 5:58 PM. Reason : .]

Its mentioned a few pages back. There is a direct quote from Lindelof stating the same thing. And yes, its pretty damn stupid.

10/15/2012 12:06:37 AM
Wow. I did not know of this until now. Well, that makes this movie about 100% more stupid than I already thought it was. What a disappointment.
10/15/2012 8:12:26 AM
Your movie is bad and you should feel bad.

Sorry to say it, but I think you guys are taking this a bit too seriously. It's just a science fiction movie. Why does something said in an interview in the DVD extras impact your opinion of the film? You didn't draw that conclusion by watching it yourself.
10/16/2012 12:37:05 AM
for the record, i thought this film sucked a dick long before this revaluation.
10/16/2012 7:28:32 AM
You're right, it is just a science fiction film. The problem is, the science was always dubious at best and now we've got confirmation that the fiction is straight up looney toons retarded. It's a science fiction film, indeed, and a very disappointing one.
