Good choice

i pictured her more like a busty, full lipped, scarlett johansson type. obviously not with scarlett playing her, but that type. but i also could have seen someone like emma stone in that role. actually i think i like my emma stone idea better upon further reflection.though i really like them casting lesser known/famous actors in these movies[Edited on July 23, 2012 at 2:13 PM. i agree - i saw more of a Brooklyn Decker-type (not actually Brooklyn Decker but definitely her features - tall, thin, beautiful, blond hair).
7/23/2012 2:22:32 PM
only thing i saw in my head was blonde...but that's fixable.
7/23/2012 2:31:02 PM
maybe I need to go back and re-read, but I didn't get the impression Johanna was model-like in beauty, I came away that she was a bit more punk / non-traditional
7/23/2012 2:32:42 PM
^^ oh definitely. ^ i think i saw her as a badass but one that was also really gorgeous. kind of weird but i enjoy reading what other people think in how they saw characters.
7/23/2012 2:53:12 PM
Agreed with CassTheSass on Johanna, it was regularly talked about how she would just strut around naked because she knew she was hot.
7/23/2012 3:03:51 PM
In my head I had a much stronger/more athletic person in mind. Maybe something more like Pink or Hope Solo...neither of these people are what I'm thinking exactly, but definitely more in that directionMaybe Gina Carano...[Edited on July 23, 2012 at 3:45 PM. Reason : a]
7/23/2012 3:43:58 PM
no no no no no gina sucks at acting
7/23/2012 4:19:37 PM
I've never seen anything she's been in...she just looks the part in my head, kind offor the record, I immediately attributed Brendan Gleeson as to what Haymitch looked like. Throughout all the books he was the first image that came to my mind every single mention of him and the most obvious of all the characters. Possibly because he played Hamish is Braveheart
7/23/2012 4:25:48 PM
Gonna watch it at Blue Ridge.
7/24/2012 8:45:32 PM
Finally it's showing now.
8/16/2012 10:45:30 PM
this movie sucks.
8/18/2012 9:25:13 AM
Has anybody seen the movie out on Redbox yet?
8/18/2012 4:35:39 PM
New movies don't come til 28 days after the DVD release
8/18/2012 6:11:34 PM
incorrect. i picked it up today at red box. watching it tonight
8/18/2012 7:02:48 PM
Very nice. Must have changed recently? Or my intel is unreliable. Good to know for the future though.
8/18/2012 7:36:08 PM
not sure. i know some typically aren't released at the same time, so maybe they had a special agreement? i dunno.the darn box itself had katniss' face all over it
8/18/2012 7:40:40 PM
I found it on the Red Box!!! I think employees just buy the DVDs and stock them in the boxes. That's why you don't have to wait 28 days anymore
8/18/2012 7:50:48 PM
I'm debating whether or not to buy it on DVD or wait til we get a Blu-ray and a decent TV. If/when that ever happens.[Edited on August 18, 2012 at 7:54 PM. Reason : Same for Harry Potter and Game of Thrones]
8/18/2012 7:53:52 PM
^^ The 28 days thing only applies to some studios. It's mostly the really big studios from what I know (Warner Bros, Disney, 20th Cent. Fox, Universal, etc.) I think one of them even has a 56 day delay. LionsGate, which tends to release movies that are a little more off the beaten path, releases to redbox the same day as retail. Probably because it increases exposure for their movies.
8/19/2012 11:11:34 AM
i just finished watching this. it wasn't nearly as bad as i was expecting (at least according to what my friends said). pg-13 really hurt it, though.
8/19/2012 12:27:01 PM
What do you mean? It should be rated as R?
8/19/2012 2:20:03 PM
I thought it was pretty violent for a pg-13 so if they had gone with an R it probably would have been awesome
8/19/2012 2:25:10 PM
Gonna watch it.
8/19/2012 2:27:31 PM
Just watched it for the first time. I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed it. I missed some of the Katniss inner dialogue though from the books. Other than that, I thought it was pretty good.
8/19/2012 3:33:23 PM
too bad they are making the other books into movies too
8/19/2012 6:08:21 PM
Why is that too bad?
8/19/2012 6:16:29 PM
Meet Finnick Odair:
8/22/2012 12:10:38 PM
d;oh i was just coming to post this
8/22/2012 12:11:39 PM
I thought they picked him awhile ago?
8/22/2012 12:17:56 PM
i don't think that it was official
8/22/2012 12:18:22 PM
WordI see that nowhttp://insidemovies.ew.com/2012/08/22/hunger-games-catching-fire-finnick-sam-claflin/
8/22/2012 12:22:29 PM
I thought he was supposed to be blond?
8/22/2012 1:02:46 PM
If only our society had access to hair coloring technology or wigs...
8/22/2012 1:04:34 PM
I don't remember the character as a blonde, but that could be bad memory...
8/22/2012 8:03:57 PM
haymitch was supposed to be dark haired.
8/22/2012 9:09:01 PM
And the people of District 12 were supposed to be hungry.
8/22/2012 9:42:01 PM
8/22/2012 10:11:43 PM
the inner dialog is just hard to get across unless you have a narrator or hear her thoughts. a really good actor can pull of some things without words, but still. I thought the same thing about the girl with the dragon tattoo movies. also Woody wasn't much of a drink. Haymitch is pretty much shit face for the first 3/4s of the book.
8/22/2012 11:18:39 PM
8/23/2012 8:06:05 AM
So it just takes three viewings before you notice the hunger in the hunger games.
8/23/2012 8:12:40 AM
^^^thanks, now I'm subscribed to both screenjunkies and djflula. Saw this last night, thought it was alright.
8/23/2012 9:42:02 AM
^^exactly! No I admit I was way too excited at the first screening to find any fault in it. The second screening I was more into hoping I'd make it through shaky cam now that I wasn't sitting in the 5th row.
8/23/2012 10:16:34 AM
I didn't watch it in theaters, so that's probably why, but I didn't notice the shaky camera thing at all.
8/23/2012 10:37:59 AM
Some people just don't notice shaky cam. I find it distracting, like I'll often be the only person that notices when they do it on TV shows.I still haven't seen the movie to see how bad it is. I planned on waiting for the DVD. I hear it's real shaky in the beginning but not toward the end. That seems kind of backwards to me. I would have thought that the camera would be still when showing the poor, starving, hardly moving people in the district and then go into full shake mode when trying to convey the sense of urgent action when in the arena.I hear it's the opposite? Go figure.
8/23/2012 11:12:58 AM
I was not impressed with Haymitch in the movie at all.
