You do have to give him credit for not shooting her, that would have played differently with a lot of the cops from other SWAT stories(of course that in no way makes this less tragic, and in no way diminishes the problem in general or in this case specifically; just acknowledging that in other stories with other cops that lady is dead.)

we're supposed to take the word of a mommy blogger? i doubt that's the full story, no way its due to that google search.
8/1/2013 10:17:11 PM
The employer that recently fired the husband kept search records at work. Apparently he was disgruntled and they called the cops. They're still reading your google searches on a national level...they're just not sloppy enough to show up at your house.
8/1/2013 11:15:29 PM
that makes much more sense
8/2/2013 7:14:12 AM
I'm a bit surprised that nobody has mentioned this yet:http://rt.com/usa/unarmed-florida-man-firing-squad-765/60 year old man is looking for cigarettes in his car in his own driveway and gets shot at by the police. They fired 15 bullets at him.WTF
8/2/2013 8:42:50 AM
It was filed in another thread under "It's OK to shoot people who __________."

They killed giggles http://radio.foxnews.com/toddstarnes/top-stories/agents-raid-animal-shelter-kill-deer-named-giggles.html
8/2/2013 7:04:46 PM
^^^looks like they were pretty damn bad shots on top of that. I am happy the guy wasn't killed, but i thought that if a LEO feared for his life enough to warrant opening fire, they were to aim for center of mass?
8/2/2013 7:07:23 PM
can we go ahead and give florida back to spain?
8/5/2013 12:47:46 PM
Nice to see that the police in the animal shelter raid also took it upon themselves to take private property and destroy evidence.
8/5/2013 1:18:20 PM
^^But who would we give California to? Who would take it?
8/5/2013 8:44:44 PM
California could survive just fine on its own.Anyway, get ready to have your junk poked about at random events by TSA:http://www.nytimes.com/2013/08/06/us/tsa-expands-duties-beyond-airport-security.html?ref=us&_r=0Who didn't see this coming?
8/6/2013 4:07:22 PM
The police still don't understand that it's legal for us to film them.http://reason.com/archives/2013/08/07/photographer-vs-lapd-was-photographer-in/1

Anyone have any knowledge of, experience with, COPDOTS?http://www.copdots.com/Default.aspxApparently CMPD plans to use them as a crime fighting tool, although the article doesn't provide any specifics. http://www.wsoctv.com/news/news/local/cmpd-introduces-cop-dot-pens-help-fight-crime/nZGT5/More evidence of a police state, or simply an effective crime fighting tool to be used by the individual?
8/21/2013 9:14:08 AM
how exactly would it be evidence of a police state?

That incident could have been entirely avoided if they had more accurate bomb residue testing. Apparently some over-the-counter bedbug powder triggered it? That's some bullshit. Of course the conditions of the ensuing detainment were also bullshit.
8/22/2013 7:54:49 PM
I want to get some bedbug shit before my next flight and get there way early to see what happens.

http://www.veteranstoday.com/2013/08/19/police-now-can-switch-off-iphone-camera-and-wi-fi/Police throughout the globe have been embarrassed to see online videos of their officers pepper spraying tied captives. In our age of mobile gadgets the pictures can be uploaded online in seconds, making supervisors to answer the questions. But now the police may not need to fear scrutiny anymore, because Apple has recently patented a piece of technology that would allow the authorities and police to block data transmission, including video and photos, whenever they like. All they need to do is decide that a public gathering or venue is deemed “sensitive” and needs to be protected from externalities. In this case Apple will enable them to switch off all its gear. The developers insist that the affected locations are normally cinemas, theaters and concert grounds, but Apple admits it could also be used in covert police or government operations that may need complete “blackout” conditions.
8/23/2013 10:18:22 AM
the ability to block wifi or wireless communications existed before that apple patent
8/23/2013 10:23:39 AM
Yeah, and it's not like iphones are state sanctioned and everyone has one. This should go in the "reasons apple sucks" thread.
8/23/2013 11:20:35 AM
Cell phone towers are now routinely shut down by police around protests.
8/23/2013 12:36:21 PM
and they will even put up fake cell sites so they can monitor you when your phone connects to them

8/23/2013 1:37:49 PM
Were it that it isn't so...

wow, check the comments on this one. it seems that the golo conservatives support a police state:http://www.wral.com/nypd-designates-mosques-as-terrorism-organizations/12825086/

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G4exZ-jXgWEPeople who like cops should watch that and tell me if the people recording deserved what they got.Take note of such lines as "I'll split your wig open" and "You know what happens to people who run? We run them over with the police car."
10/2/2013 10:53:31 PM
The police are just doing their job, terrorizing the public. Those people should have known better than to be out in public, doing stuff
10/2/2013 11:00:44 PM
Again, I wish there was a god, and he had a banhammer that would plummet from the sky and pulverize the guilty parties (the police).
10/3/2013 12:27:20 AM
I was done watching that BS after the cop said "It's not illegal to grab you."
10/3/2013 1:20:26 AM
"Everyone thinks they're a fucking lawyer and they don't know jack shit"The biggest race issue we have in this country is the 5-0. If these guys were white they would have never been targeted. The police in this country have gotten out of hand. It's way too common seeing these videos nowadays. This guy has no criminal record of drugs, the cop asks him what he does. He says serving at a country club, cop says, "serving what, weed?".The news needs to get their shit together and cover a real story.
10/3/2013 8:01:13 AM
If a video of cops being assholes is evidence of our police state, what about the tens of thousands of non-asshole interactions police officers had with the populace during the same time period? What are those evidence of?
10/3/2013 8:42:14 AM
what about cops harrasing and institutionalizing one of their own because the loner doesn't want to continue arresting people for simply being within sight of a police officer? that work for ya?
10/3/2013 8:49:52 AM
My point is that this is like assuming a product is shit because of a few amazon reviews when the millions of other users don't bother to post good reviews.Even several videos of cops doing shady shit shouldn't be compelling. This is confirmation bias 101.The NSA wiretapping on the other hand...
10/3/2013 11:36:07 AM
it's not that video itself, it's the numerous videos in this thread and all over the internet of the same shit happening.
10/3/2013 11:39:35 AM
Even the aggregate of videos posted is a very small sampling of total cop-person interactions in a day.
10/3/2013 11:43:12 AM
i think it's common enough that we should be concerned with it
10/3/2013 11:47:08 AM
^^and how many of them get charged with their crimes? how many are sitting in jail? very few, because the rest protect the shield.
10/3/2013 11:50:10 AM
Definitely a band of brothers mentality. But that goes without saying.I have nothing against the police or the military. However, when someone starts passing judgement upon others and abuse authority for their own entertainment, they have stepped over the line of respect and fallen into a territory that I detest.

http://www.theatlanticcities.com/politics/2013/10/dog-really-killed-police-officer-every-98-minutes/7356/Animal rights activists contend that a pet dog is killed every 98 minutes by a police officer. The story of the runaway dog also demonstrates how clueless and callous they can be when dealing with dogs.
10/27/2013 4:35:38 AM
It really boils down to a lack of training; when I worked patrol, I would be forced to take tons of dog calls. I was not trained to handle dogs, nor did I have any equipment to handle dogs and the madness that ensued could fill an entire thread.
