how much of a bonus does cam newtons dad get for a win?and everytime someone says WAR EAGLE at the end of a sentence reminds me of the chapelle show episode where he says WHITE POWER

Corso just called Urban "Peter North"
1/11/2011 12:55:47 AM
even though that was close and exciting I don't think it was a very good game, newton and the oregon offense seemed like let downs, i like defensive games too but it just seemed like the offenses weren't playing well
1/11/2011 1:08:23 AM
a month+ of not playing at game speed will do that to offenses

how many 1st place votes do you think tcu will get in the final ap poll?
1/11/2011 2:43:30 AM
noneunless someone does it as an anti-BCS protest type thing
1/11/2011 3:05:36 AM
I personally think TCU would have beaten either of those teams last night based on watching the Rose Bowl and that game last night. I'd vote for them as number 1.
1/11/2011 8:17:51 AM
yeah I was also surprised at the offenses of these 2 teams last night. Either it was the month off or the defenses showed up in a big way.
1/11/2011 9:03:06 AM
Seeing TCU look strong across both sides of the field and the sloppy game last night is exactly why it is the MNC game and not the NC game...

on both defenses, especially Auburn's it looked like they really tried to take away the running game and make Oregon beat them with the arm of the QB. They really stayed at home on those end arounds, misdirection plays

I know people give Auburn a lot of shit, but this is extremely fucked up:http://ocm.auburn.edu/news/oaks.htmlLong story short: Auburn has these really old oak trees near an entrance to the campus that are over 130 years old. The trees are similar to our belltower (as far as being a symbol of the university and of school pride).... Someone poisoned the trees and they most likely will completely die. Some dude called a radio show at the end of January saying he poisoned the trees, so just to be safe they sent samples to the lab... Auburn confirmed today that the dose of Spike was lethal. They're trying to find ways to save the trees but apparently that involves digging giant trenches and I guess trying to move them to different soil.Considering these trees are central to big celebrations at Auburn and it was at the end of January, I'm going to guess this was in response to the championship... People are such assholes.[Edited on February 16, 2011 at 11:11 PM. Reason : .]

celebratory poisoning?seems reasonable

ESPN said it was right after the Iron Bowl

^ Yeah but I guess people were holding out hope it was a fake.. until today. Dude better hope he has a pretty hefty jail sentence or they don't release his info, because you aren't kidding about Alabama people (the state, seeing as everyone here is obsessed with football)... I would not be surprised in the slightest if a hardcore Auburn fan found the person and did some not so great things But this really is heartbreaking I know how I would feel if someone fucked up the bell tower... This is going too far.I hadn't seen it was after the Iron Bowl, my b[Edited on February 16, 2011 at 11:42 PM. Reason : .]

I actually heard the call as I listen to Paul Finebaum on the way home from work on Sirius. Paul was like "Do you believe that what you did was legal"The guy said "Do you think I give a damn Paul? Roll Damn Tide! (click)"I'm guessing if he would have known the shitstorm this would create...with the feds and all, he would have given more of a damn. Someone said on the Finebaum show today willfully killing any tree over 100 years old is a felony in Bama....no idea if it's accurate. Callers on that show don't necessarily peak out on the credibility/intelligence radar...Seems like kind of an erroneous law to have on the books, but I've heard dumber ones[Edited on February 16, 2011 at 11:45 PM. Honestly, after living in Alabama I can certainly tell you I am not surprised at what the Bama fan said. I never thought I would say this, but they are truly worse than UNC Wal-Mart fans (or any bandwagon fan). They will cut a bitch over bad mouthing that team I know they're trees and all that, but I think I'm mostly upset that someone was this mean spirited and destroyed a school's well-known landmark. I would feel the same way if someone fucked up the Old Well -- it's taking sports too far, and it's evil. And, I wouldn't be surprised if that was a real law here

The trees aren't dead because Cam Newton doesn't know the trees are dead. NCAA concurs.
2/17/2011 12:14:10 AM
They sent out a campus wide email about it today. You can "track" the status of the trees here: http://ocm.auburn.edu/news/oaks.htmlThe city has cameras downtown and I think there might be a live feed of Toomers Corner (where the trees are). I know they have archived pictures of post game toilet papering after big games. I'm sure they are reviewing the tapes if that's the case. A Georgia fan tried to light it on fire after the game a couple months ago.Someone went and overseeded the field by Bama's stadium with the score from the Iron Bowl (28-27). So now the score is green and the grass is dormant all around it. Killing the trees is a bit overboard though.

god i love the finebaum show....the unintentional comedy is off the charts
2/17/2011 1:09:06 AM
^^ do you have any pictures of that?the score, that is.also, <3 u.

This is pretty weak for a bama fan. Usually they beat up or kill an auburn fan.[Edited on February 17, 2011 at 8:07 AM. Reason : Y]

I guess that's why it's nice not having a plant as the campus landmark.Heck, here at NCSU they take pride in chopping down old trees. Anyone remember that one near the parabolic reflectors? That one was probably a hazard though.
2/17/2011 7:56:57 AM
killing a tree is a felony?next thing you know not paying taxs on dog fighting will send you to jail
2/17/2011 8:31:13 AM
^^ Second thatThey should just go ahead and cut down the trees and use the wood to build something lasting before it dies so at least you get to hold onto part of the history and that guy doesn't completely win.[Edited on February 17, 2011 at 8:40 AM. Reason : .]
