state fans talking about getting invited to the SEC?you guys are the worst sports fans in the history of the worldHave fun with liberty. Maybe you can get above .500 this year. =)
8/21/2011 4:09:31 PM
I'll bet you can't name 3 players on your basketball team
8/21/2011 4:31:35 PM
I honestly cant name 3 people on ECU's basketball team. but then again I havent been on campus since 2005

^ the SEC numbers there could be explained by UT alone... they lost about 2,000 seats due to club seats expansion in 2009
8/23/2011 10:26:39 PM
Shit like this just makes me dislike SEC folks more
8/23/2011 10:31:04 PM
? its not like an "SEC guy" wrote it, Bradley covers everything
8/23/2011 10:34:01 PM
No explanations for the ACC schools in the article, so there's no room for your excuses here.I mean hell there are 12 schools in the ACC and only 5 of them saw any decrease in attendance, and 4 of them had an increase in average attendance greater than 100 per game.DISASTER!
8/23/2011 10:38:58 PM
what? haha, I didnt write it, so I have no idea what "your excuses" means...and what do you mean no explanation for the ACC teams mentioned?[Edited on August 23, 2011 at 10:42 PM. Reason : d]

He went to an SEC school, but I'm not questioning his journalistic integrity. Just that when I read something like the column you posted, it's not that far off from the manifest destiny shit that SEC fans are always pushing. The ACC isn't anywhere near collapsing, but could definitely stand to shed a few schools. Football makes a lot of money, but no conference makes as much money from basketball as the ACC. It's also ignorant to assume that every fan of every team values football above basketball. That's true at most FBS schools, but not at most of the ACC schools that actually matter. Were State to join the SEC (they're not, not in a million years, this is a thought exercise), my interest in college athletics would drop off the map. Not just because we'd never win another football game, but because I really hate the win-at-all-costs approach that SEC fans take. Bradley talks about violations popping up in the ACC, but that sort of stuff is a weekly affair in the SEC. Their players are beating the shit of marines! State playing with a bunch of non-qualifiers and dragging the basketball program (the only thing in our athletic department that has ever been worth a damn) into the mud makes no sense. I'm on the highest of high horses when it comes to this. If you can't win fairly, don't play. I'd rather lose than cheat. Joining the SEC, we'd probably end up doing both.

well, there were fewer seats, its not an excuse, its the truth. I mean, I guess there could be fewer seats at all the places he mentioned, not denying that isnt possible.

Never heard it before, I am impressed.
8/23/2011 10:58:20 PM
Face it. TOB follows the rules way too much to play ball the SEC way. Thats why your recruiting numbers suck and you still lose to cusa teams. lolpaging twista.....[Edited on August 24, 2011 at 10:34 AM. Reason : .]

State's not going anywhere. Tobacco Road is the heart of the ACC.we need to pull in UConn & another school from the north east. we're trying to be a bigger better ACC, not SEC part 2
8/26/2011 11:08:36 AM
^ tobacco road may be the heart of the ACC, but the ACC may be dying. people are taking this lightly and they shouldn't, the ACC is right up there w/ the big east as first conference to get poached and disappear.
8/26/2011 11:38:55 AM
I'd almost rather the ACC disappear from a State fan's perspective than add another team from the NE that we have nothing common with. Fuck WV, UCONN, Cuse, and every other "new market" big east team they would try to add.KEEP IT SOUTHERN. You know, playing teams in states that actually border us. Natural rivalries.[Edited on August 26, 2011 at 12:07 PM. Reason : .]
8/26/2011 12:06:58 PM
I'd much rather have UCONN and Cuse than UCF and USFWe're the Atlantic Coast Conference...nothing about Southern in our name
8/26/2011 12:08:16 PM
I understand that, that's why I qualified my statement with "from a State fan's perspective". We, as a school, don't have a single thing in common with any of those teams.KEEP IT SOUTHERN, B.
8/26/2011 12:51:58 PM
i disagreenowadays if i see Uconn or Syracuse on the schedule, it means somethingthere aren't any southern schools that aren't already in the SEC that have the same effect
8/26/2011 12:57:46 PM

UCF is a total joke academically and would never never be invited to join the ACC. I'm not as familiar with USF but I'd bet it's in the same boat. They just don't fit the the Tier I schools (+NC State, Clempon, VT in Tier II?) of the ACC.I'd vote for UConn and Cuse over those guys. We need to make the ACC into two 8-team divisions, North and South. That way tobacco road rivalries can be maintained, if they have a round-robin format for basketball divisions... we could add UConn, Cuse, Pitt, and a wildcard school (Georgetown would make sense if they jump to FBS for football)Southern Division:MiamiFlorida StateGeorgia TechClemsonNorth CarolinaNC StateDukeWake ForestNorthern DivisionVirginiaVirginia TechMarylandPittsburghBoston CollegeConnecticutSyracuseWildcard School
