Javi must work on limiting the turnovers!he's top-10 in the nation for assists per gamebut out of the top-120 (for players that average 20+ minutes per game) in assist-to-turnover ratio

^Here's the problem:Dennis Horner - 8 pts (3-10 FG, 2-2 FT), 1 blk, 5 reb, 5 TOsSomeone who is barely handling the ball turns it over the most. 3 for CJ is bad, too. You can't understate how much horner fucked us in this game.[Edited on December 24, 2009 at 1:51 AM. Reason : .]

Dammit, the Nic Wise game winner is No. 1 on SC's Top 10 plays. God how in the world did that guy not get called for a 5th foul during those 5 or so times he clearly fouled?
12/24/2009 1:54:39 AM
2 of Horner's turnovers were on offensive foulshe needs to focus on body control when he's in the paint
12/24/2009 1:56:45 AM
he needs to focus more on sitting on the bench
12/24/2009 1:58:01 AM
i say start all of the freshmen and don't take them out til mop up timetrial by fire
12/24/2009 2:00:03 AM
Why was javi on the bench for much of the last 5 minutes? "Oh you made a 4 point play? sit down."Why was Horner our go-to guy for like 5 straight possessions in the last four minutes?
12/24/2009 2:39:41 AM
Because he was our only senior on the floor. Because, of the people eligible to play, he averages the most points, rebounds, and minutes of any of the players on our team. Because he has the most experience. How many reasons do you want? I thought the team played pretty well. The first half left something to be desired. But it's a team full of freshmen. They are getting better. What I really like is it's evident the team is playing hard. We just didn't get that all the time with Costner/Fells/Grant etc.[Edited on December 24, 2009 at 6:15 AM. someone (fess up) said we wouldn't score 50+ points in half for the rest of the year: they scored 51Howell still is a step slow/fat whatever, but he came alive. If vandenburg could move his feet he's gonna be solid, he played pretty well last night against guys who were faster than he was. But you can tell we don't want to throw him the ball on those high screens and UA realized that and Javi/Julius were seemingly always 2x teamed when they got to the top of the key because the big man would never trail Vburg. It didn't always happen, but during crucial times, there was very little movement by guys without the ball on offense for guys not named Wood, Davis Vburg, or Howell. Horner's body language was bad all game.As much as losing sucked, we saw glimmers of what could be if these guys can play hard for 40minutes on offense. Defense was a little weak-sauce last night but overall they played pretty well.As others have mentioned, Javi at times, as good as he was at the end was part of the reason we got into such a big hole.
12/24/2009 10:13:26 AM
wow. i'm normally the biggest lowe apologist around, but i'm surprised at how calm everyone is on here after some pretty questionable coaching...did javi have a lot of fouls or something? maybe sidney took him out, b/c of all of his turnovers or something, but imo, he should be playing 35+ minutes a game. and when Mays plays with him (which he shouldn't) then Javi should run point. It's miserable watching nothing Mays handle the ball as he attempts to run the offense. We need to attack the basket more, with our guards. Javi has shown he's capable of driving and dishing. We should do this more. Why did Howell disappear to the bench and Painter ever appear? Terrible substitution. Maybe he was hurting/really tired? If Howell and Vandenburg played more, and Horner played less, we would have won. If our freshmen improve over time as much as Smith, and not like Horner.... loook out!

We should start suspending posting privileges for people that don't watch the games. Most of the people that actually watched the whole thing are like "meh, we're young and getting better". The numbnuts that just got up this morning and looked at the boxscore are all "OMG Lowe sucks! Why did a gimpy Javi only play 20 minutes?!"

i'm still amazed at how people were expecting us to roll in this game with THESE things against us:1. Road Game2. Missing our best player(who is averaging a double-double practically)3. At the 3, 4 and 5 spots we were playing with 5 true freshmen and 1 senior.Of course, there are things that happened in the game that shouldn't...silly turnovers, etc. But for this team to have fought back like they did, and play like the did in the 2nd half, with the youth that we have....im proud of them.
12/24/2009 1:37:44 PM
the committee will consider the fact that smith didn't play in this game and we still almost won save an amazing coast to coast drive by a guy that should be in the nba. If we beat florida, we still have a very reasonable shot at an at large bid.
12/24/2009 1:57:25 PM
If the Florida that lost to South Alabama at home shows up then we can beat them. If the Florida that beat Mich. St on the road shows up then we are toast.
12/24/2009 2:01:50 PM
even with a win against Florida, we would HAVE to be at least .500 in ACC playmaybe 7-9 would get us in with 2 wins against UNC and/or Duke
12/24/2009 2:03:35 PM
seasonofinchesseriously, why can't you all see that you make the same excuses year after year.
12/24/2009 2:08:22 PM
Lowe and the team will prove all of you people wrong in 1-3 years
12/24/2009 2:09:53 PM
michigan state is overrated as hell. florida aint great but will finish in the top 10 because kentucky and ole miss are the only sec teams capable of beating them so its a great opportunity...by reasonable i mean .500 in the acc. if we don't don't beat duke and unc we could still sweep a few other teams. Auburn might finish in the top 25 so all we would need is one more top 25 wn in the acc or maybe marquette to have a surprise season for us to have a good resume without beating duke and unc. then of course we have to win probably 2 games in the tournament.
12/24/2009 2:12:22 PM
^^^shut the fuck up. THe last 2 years the "excuse" has been a bunch of primadonna bitches that had their feelings hurt b/c they didn't wanna put in the work. This season we have workers, they're just young and raw. We're headed in the right direction....just gotta take some lumps along the way

12/24/2009 3:38:48 PM
they might frustrate me because of the turnovers, but this team is still more exciting to watch than the team we've had the last two years. these guys make stupid mistakes, but it's not like costner and fells who only really played when they felt like it.

I hope whoever wrote that meant something else. Year in school and stats racked up against cupcakes don't mean shit. Actual play on the floor against the current opponent should determine PT. Horner should have been sitting right next to tracy for the whole game.
