Didn't really think he would get best director.
1/17/2010 10:18:10 PM
Jim Cameron is such a tool.
1/17/2010 10:19:55 PM
^ Aye, but a tool with two $1 billion+ movies under his belt.
1/17/2010 10:25:42 PM
Because money is important.Avatar and Titanic both suck.
1/17/2010 10:29:03 PM
Geez. Easy, tiger. Just stating a fact. Didn't offer my opinion on either of those two films.
1/17/2010 10:30:43 PM
A fact that has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that he's a tool.
1/17/2010 10:38:29 PM
Okay.
1/17/2010 10:39:51 PM
can we all at least agree that hearing The Governator say "Avatar" was funny?
1/17/2010 10:52:42 PM
BEST. MOTION. PICTURE. DRAMA.
1/17/2010 10:57:42 PM
What a joke
1/17/2010 10:59:13 PM
^ what a joke indeed... what a terrible movie
1/18/2010 12:09:10 AM
1/18/2010 7:43:56 AM
There are plenty of points where they meet, yes. For instance, I love the Beatles. The fact that a billion people love Titanic doesn't keep it from being a sappy, generic love story, or Avatar from being a piece of garbage wrapped in the prettiest paper in film history.
1/18/2010 7:50:50 AM
Fair enough.
1/18/2010 7:55:10 AM
Its going to take the #1 spot from titanic for worldwide gross.....its just a matter of weather it will the $600 million domestic record!
1/18/2010 10:15:25 AM
Which media outlet will use the headline "Avatar sinks Titanic as #1 grossing film"
1/18/2010 10:47:43 AM
^ LOL! It's just a matter of time.
1/18/2010 10:49:27 AM
Is Titanic's gross being adjusted for inflation in all these comparisons?
1/18/2010 10:54:09 AM
i think it will be in theaters for a while, cause no one cares about avatar on dvd, everyone wants the 3-d experiencebut i hate to say after seeing it once, i dont care to sit through the whole thing again
1/18/2010 11:03:30 AM
Avatar sold a lot more 2-d tickets than 3-d
1/18/2010 11:06:00 AM
there were more 2-d viewings than 3d...most people won't waste money on "3d" in a regular theaterIMAX is the only way to go for that
1/18/2010 12:26:50 PM
The girl I went to see it with the first time said that she wants to see it again but only in 2-D. She didn't see what all the fuss was about in the 3-D version. To be fair, we also didn't see it in an IMAX. Damn you Greensboro!

I don't think the financial numbers are what will make this film memorable (although those statistics ARE quite the feat, considering the economy we're living in). What will make this film memorable for years to come is that was an unabashed BIG blockbuster, in every sense of that word, and yet it's visuals are still unlike anything anyone has ever seen on the big screen. It's the same kind of thing that made Star Wars a classic (even though I've never actually seen it ).
1/19/2010 12:03:05 AM
Just saw it last night in 3Dhad a predictable, feel good storygreat visuals and creativity all and all I was very entertained, and that is what matters mostbest motion picture, nah son.

Avatar now the highest grossing film ever.http://boxofficemojo.com/news/?id=2646&p=.htmIt's ok. I didn't like Titanic.
1/25/2010 1:15:51 AM
**SPOILER**one thing that bugged me was that the dick colonel made a point to say the na'vi were very hard to kill, yet they got mowed down like any other organic lifeform. i was expecting guys to empty full clips into them and they'd still be moving forward***END SPOILER***[Edited on January 25, 2010 at 9:57 AM. Reason : .]
1/25/2010 9:56:31 AM
^ I think he just meant because they were so agile...when they had as many troops/tanks as at the end it's sort of hard to avoid that...even for the Na'vi
1/25/2010 12:04:43 PM
actually, I think he said their bodies have carbon fiber in them or something.
1/25/2010 12:34:58 PM
They are not likely to break any bones jumpin around, but a bullet will still rip up your internal organs I would imagine.
1/25/2010 1:39:18 PM
not to mention any time we saw them gunned down it was to automatic weapon fire, not some shitty hand gun they issue to all the marines.
1/25/2010 1:42:11 PM
they were so hard to kill because instead of fucking blowing them away from 30000 feet they decided to try the dumbest shit possible.
1/25/2010 7:28:18 PM
Well, it wouldn't have been much of a movie if they'd taken off and nuked the entire site from orbit, even though that's the only way to be sure.
1/25/2010 7:29:51 PM
Smallpox blankets work too.
1/25/2010 7:32:33 PM
it's called a cruise missile I think for a reason
