FILL IN THE ?If you remember the fence that "killed" the crazy russian dude the first time - all about the smoke monster. The fence was defense for ?1. The smoke monster was defense for ?2.?1: Dharma Initiative ?2: Richard's groupWho else could it be?
2/16/2009 12:09:46 PM
oh the fence is more than likely the DI's toolbut i'm not willing to automatically concede the smoke monster to Richard's squadhell,?2 = 4 toed statue people for all we knowwe don't know that ben "controlled" itperhaps he just let the sonic boom shields down and the monster just let it rip on its own (to kill keamy)

Concerning the Rousseau/science team backstory we got last week:It was cool that they were able to wrap it up in a single episode (I figure that's the last we'll see of her)There was one thing that bothered me, though; in season one, she said a few times that the team was on the island for a few weeks before heading to the dark territory. We saw last week that they headed straight for the tower as soon as they landed. It's not a big deal, it just kind of bugged me. I figure it's a result of the actress that played Rousseau wanting to be killed off last season.

jin changed thingsi don't care what farraday said
2/16/2009 1:31:30 PM
^^^ i think when ben said "hold on a minute" and went to that back room there was a panel with hieroglyphs on it, i can only assume they are similar to the ones on the temple where the black smoke monster apparently resides. i'd have to research it and make sure, but i recall thats how it went. I do think the fence was a DI tool. Some people didn't like last weeks episode but seeing as how they wrapped up a lot of loose ends and did it in only one episode i'm pleased overall.
2/16/2009 1:37:43 PM
see, i'm worried that we're gonna have too many episodes like thisat first i loved it, and tried to convince other people (on facebook)but now i'm kinda thinking i'd rather them focus on the future than the past...
2/16/2009 1:48:12 PM
^I think this past episode was great and I agree that they were smart to keep it to a single episode. With this one episode they answered some questions about Danielle and her crew, further emphasised the fact they they've had a general idea and an overall plan since the beginning, and most importantly (IMO) have reinforced the "single-string" theory. They added evidence to support the "rule" about not being able to make a new string/alternate future by showing Jin's interaction and apparent prevention of Danielle's death/sickness, just like they did with Richard and Locke and explaining Richard's presence at Locke's birth.I agree with the folks on here who have put stock in the rule of not being able to change the future. The changing of the future issue with time travel has always bugged me in TV shows and movies. I've always been from the school that thought if someone travels back in time and interferes in that time frame that they're creating an alternate future b/c that interaction has already happened, as evidenced by the revelation that Faraday tried to keep Charlotte off the island. He wanted to prevent her death which he just learned about in the present, so he tries to scare her in the past to keep her from coming back. He does so, but that event has already occurred in Charlotte's past, he hasn't really changed everything. Of course there is Desmond, the "wildcard" who apparently can bend the rules as we saw with his prevention of Charlie's death(s) and his new memory of his interaction with Faraday at the hatch. I kinda disagree with this addition, but hey, it's just a TV show and it's a damn good one right now.Sorry for rambling, I think I've effectively confused myself, but hopefully somebody will know what I'm trying to say.
2/16/2009 2:20:24 PM
Maybe someone else has said this already, but I want to see how many toes Richard has...
2/16/2009 5:53:46 PM
i'm watching sci-fi's repeatsthey're going from the beginning againi forgot just how often they had evangeline lilly in her bra in the first season...ALSOheard on twitter today that the next two episodes are getting switched in orderso i'm guessing the next two episodes will be entirely self containedor else i'm in for a surprisei can't watch tomorrow night though, sadly...[Edited on February 17, 2009 at 8:19 PM. Reason : who knows when i'll get to watch it]
2/17/2009 8:17:37 PM
in the other 48 days, ana lucia notes that one of the others she kills is carrying a vintage US army knife, which she says is about 20 years old.pretty cool.
2/17/2009 8:24:13 PM
yehshe says "tang"loltang
2/17/2009 8:30:42 PM
^^^ i wonder why they're switching them in order. i hope this doesn't delay the answers that i assumed we would get tonight.but in order for them to be able to switch they must be entirely self contained
2/18/2009 9:57:52 AM
They switched two episodes in season three, tooThe Glass Ballerina and something else
2/18/2009 3:23:41 PM
When Rousseau FIRST meets Jin way back in Season whatever, does she act weird towards him?If not, Farraday was wrong.
2/18/2009 3:33:11 PM
I think they're in purgatory

purgatory, lost city of atlantis, etc.its all way too convoluded and squishy. they could go anywhere with this story!
2/18/2009 4:48:48 PM
if the producers wouldnt have come out and said that the show isnt based on purgatory, I would be sure that this is whats going onmaybe its all a figment of Libby's imagination while stuck in the mental hospital
2/18/2009 6:25:01 PM
i am a little on the fence about this show these daysi can't decide if it is finally too over the top. i loved it. and this season i'm just like meh
2/18/2009 9:35:24 PM
wait wait waitwho is the pilot? OMG THE ISLAND
2/18/2009 9:51:12 PM
pilot is the same guy who flew the helicopter....
2/18/2009 9:54:33 PM
oh shit, got itand Ben's answer to "how can you read?" made me LOLand I have no idea how Hurley can wear his eye mask, that freaks me out and I know it's a tv show ]
2/18/2009 9:58:27 PM
i dunno. i feel like the episodes this season started off good, like the first one was good. then the rest have been predictable and this one seemed a little cheesy and over the top.
2/18/2009 10:00:00 PM
so the plane didn't crash.... just went forward or backward in time? why was jin wearing a dharma initiative suit?
2/18/2009 10:03:50 PM
because the people on the island who were flashing stopped at a particular point in time.which would explain why farraday was in the orchid the other timeI'm Big Business and i approved this message.
2/18/2009 10:42:14 PM
Ajira Airlines.Remember that was on the water bottles that Sawyer & Co. found in the canoes on the beach? So how did Hurley get out of jail? How was Sayid convinced to join them up? Who beat the shit out of Ben? Who is the lady with Sayid?
2/18/2009 11:21:18 PM
i was thinkin desmond busted up ben when he went after penny. thats what i thought ben was talkin about doin when he said somethin about he made a promise to a friend.
2/18/2009 11:41:43 PM
^^bens lawyer told him that he would have hurley out the next morning in the last episode (or maybe it was 2 episodes ago)
2/19/2009 12:29:05 AM
lady with hurley mimiced ana lucia. he DID kill those two people and probably was in custody for it. why he was giong to guam who knows.hurley's guitar case mimiced charlie.ben tried to kill penelope, why he was beat up idk.duh.I'm Big Business and i approved this message./ ]

2/19/2009 2:31:30 AM
oh yeah...when locke pushed the wheel, i guess it froze the island in a particular time in the past...and they joined the dharma initiative or are in disguise...which would explain faraday in the station in the season premiere, and now jin in a suit in this episode
2/19/2009 5:32:59 AM
I think we covered that like 4 pages ago. You didn't really think the island was going to just be bouncing around in time for 3 years did you?
2/19/2009 6:12:14 AM
Where is Aaron in all of this? and fun fact: the painting in the church where Ben and Jack were praying is titled "The Incredulity of Saint Thomas."/art history dork ]
2/19/2009 8:44:49 AM
Kate told Jack never to ask. I think in order to replicate Claire's situation, she had Aaron crushed into tiny bits and inserted into her uterus.
2/19/2009 9:14:22 AM
I have to give kudos to the writers and producers for giving us an episode where we're getting all kinds of information and answers and the story is moving right along. This lulled me into a false sense of security so I'm thinking, "OK, things are starting to come together, I see what's going on, I'm comfortable....." Then at the end, BAM!! "WTF is Jin doing in a Dharma suit driving a seemingly brand-new Dharma hippie van?So, I assume we're back in early/prime Dharma-days time period, and I can see how Faraday could be sneaking around the Orchid in a Dharma suit, but Jin is a different story, he's not exactly under the Dharma radar driving around blaring his hippie music. So my questions/talking points are:1. Does Jin recognize everyone, or does he have the WTF look b/c they knew his name?2. What is he doing [apparently] working for Dharma?3. Does Dharma know Jin, Sawyer, Juliette's story and accepted them or are those left behind "acting" for now?4. Is Aaron dead, did he just disappear, was he taken?5. WTF was Kate doing when she just busts up in Jack's place, doesn't say a word, walks through the dark and just plops down on the bed? Despite her emotional state, you'd think she'd at least be calling out for Jack or at least flip a light switch.
2/19/2009 9:21:58 AM
1. Of course Jin recognizes everyone. I'm pretty sure he just had a giant "wtf" moment because he never expected to be driving around in the woods and find his old friends that left the island, especially since there was no plane or no wreckage or anything.2. If he (and the rest who were traveling through time) ended up back before Dharma was killed, they can't just hang out on the beach/caves. Dharma people would be all over the place doing stuff. They need to blend in.3. I'm pretty sure that they wouldn't tell Dharma anything about their story. Farraday has been very adamant about not messing with stuff like that.4. I highly doubt Aaron is dead considering he is one of the Oceanic 6 and they have made such a big deal about him.5. Agreed. She needs to make up her damn mind about Jack.
2/19/2009 9:29:29 AM
Yeah, I came to the same conclusions you mentioned for the first couple points, and also about Aaron, just wondering if anyone had any alternate theories or interpreted it differently. My one sticking point with Jin working for Dharma and the assumption that the rest of the crew blended into their culture is Dharma's reaction and acceptance. I was under the impression that Dharma hand-picked and recruited their members and brought them to the island, hence the customized coveralls and what-not (I'm talking about you, Roger Workman). I'm curious to see how they explain the integration of the handful of people that just "show up."Also, did anyone else expect to see Ben's Dad revealed as the driver of the van?PS - I'm still stoked that Jin is alive and well, I've always liked his character. And Penny better not be dead, I'm a sap who's been fearing the moment when Ben takes her out ever since he vowed to. Here's hoping he failed and Desmond whooped that ass when he attempted.
2/19/2009 9:47:47 AM
I was totally expecting Roger Workman to be driving the van... the music it was playing didn't seem like something Jin would be listening too. Also, do Jin/Sawyer/Juliet know that Ben and the "natives" killed everyone in Dharma and that they might be in danger of becoming victims of the purge?
2/19/2009 10:06:58 AM
2/19/2009 10:34:18 AM
we don't know for sure that ben made it back to the island,
2/19/2009 10:59:53 AM
i bet kate is preggers with jack's kid. and the baby is JACOB.
2/19/2009 12:47:34 PM
2/19/2009 1:34:00 PM
points taken. why would a marshal take him to guam?
2/19/2009 1:42:08 PM
He's a former enemy combatant that's murdering U.S. citizensThere's military shit in GuamBeats me
2/19/2009 1:48:43 PM
yeah i don't think they'd randomly put one guy on the front half of the plane and everyone else on the tail half without trying to recreate a mimiced first half crash again.i highly doubt they'll add the tail end to the show like they did in season 2, i am however surprised that only 1 additional person was on board.I'm Big Business and i approved this message./ ]
2/19/2009 3:46:55 PM
I thought it was a bit iffy that none of the flight crew (except lapidus) or other people in the airport were like "hey that's so-and-so from the oceanic 6 / wtf? the entire oceanic six is sitting in first class by themselves"speaking of lapidus, he needs to grow that beard back asap.
2/19/2009 4:10:50 PM
speaking of lapidus...how did he explain getting rescued when the oceanic six were rescued? unless he just stayed on the boat with desmond and penny....
2/19/2009 4:28:01 PM
2/19/2009 4:30:17 PM
yeah but i couldn't remember...also... i think it is key to remember that the plane didn't actually crash...they just saw a bright white flash... The way I see it is that only the people who have previously been on the island were transferred during the bright flash...the rest of the people on the flight were unaffected. The guy who offered jack condolences and the lady with sayid will turn up to have been on the island before as well.
