Wandy RodriguezJeff Suppanpick them up for home games, NEVER play them on the road
6/2/2008 1:04:51 AM
I don't know who is gonna end up being a better pick up - Hamilton in the 24th round or Bruce off waivers.
6/2/2008 8:03:51 PM
I picked up both Hamilton and Wellemeyer off waivers in my league, big reasons why I'm second in one of my leagues. I can't do much better than those two, although I'm hoping Kershaw and Pedro can be as successful since I've picked them up a few weeks ago.
6/2/2008 8:20:22 PM
if anyone started Casey Blake today you are getting some killer stats so far...3-3, 2 HR, 2B, 7 RBIs --- through 4 innings
6/2/2008 9:31:08 PM
anyone wanna start a half season?
6/2/2008 9:42:07 PM
^^he's a free agent in my league thankfully.
6/2/2008 9:49:41 PM
hamilton got picked the round I was going to pick himthen I tried offering some good shit for him before the season started and didn't get himthen a trade was accepted where I got AROD, BJ Upton, and Hamilton for Utley, Votto, and Atkinsof course it was vetoed
6/3/2008 12:14:55 AM
big night...i still have a. gonzalez and ichiro going and i didn't have a full roster tonight...11 runs4 home runs9 rbis.548 averageand torres with a save...pretty good for a monday night!
6/3/2008 12:20:23 AM
i actually had 11 runs, 4 HRs and 9 RBIs as well, but those were the only categories I won...I'm batting .406 but my opponent is batting .536...he has 2 wins and 2 saves (0 losses) in only 9 innings...i have a 9.00 ERA and 2.00 WHIP in 1.0 innings with 0 W / 0 L / 0 SVbut as long as I have Josh Hamilton, Adrian Gonzalez, Brandon Phillips, Edinson Volquez, etc I'm good
6/3/2008 1:19:45 AM
does the "law of averages" work in fantasy baseball? i'm in a standard 5x5 8man league and i have a pretty good damn team (who doesnt in 8man though?) but i keep getting killed in IP, K's, and W's by owners who stream pitchers. Do I drop someone like Wellemeyer and stream that spot, or keep doing what I am doing and hope it evens out over the summer?
6/3/2008 11:12:47 AM
what are your pitching categories? W, K, IP, ERA, WHIP?[Edited on June 3, 2008 at 11:27 AM. Reason : .]
6/3/2008 11:22:07 AM
IP, W, SV, K, ERA, WHIP (guess this league isn't the standard 5x5, but anyways..)current P's:kazmirsabathiaharenwellemeyerputzlyonfuentesf. corderoborowski (picked up in place of percival for the time being)percival (DL)you can start:2 SP2 RP4 Pi'm good with RP's... but i get worked in IP, W, K. most teams do away with a bench player and load up on pitching, but i have 1 bench player that i really want to hold onto (pedroia is on my bench most of the time.cant make up my mind about streaming wellemeyer's spot or hold on to him, or just drop pedroia and add another SP
6/3/2008 11:42:38 AM
so if your pitching staff pitches MORE innings in a week than your opponent, you get a point? wow that seems pretty conducive to streaming pitchers...unless you can win the ERA and WHIP battle...I think instead of IP, if Losses were a category it would be a lot more fair and discourage streaming as much, but I guess its too late for thatmy experience is that you just need to make the playoffs...you might be streaming like crazy in the playoffs, depending on your bats and your ERA/WHIP
6/3/2008 11:48:09 AM
yeah, not counting L's in this league is a joke. the other leagues i am in count L's and there is a max number of moves so that takes care of the streaming. but this league has no max moves and no L's. horseshit... but i got money down for this league so i want to win obviously.
6/3/2008 11:54:28 AM
any decent SPs in the free agent pool?also in my leagues, i dont usually stream, unless my opponent is doing it...so if my opponent one week is keeping about the same roster i wont need to stream...but i might stream a pitcher if most of his guys have 2 starts in a week and mine have 1
6/3/2008 11:57:07 AM
Johnathon Sanchez with another good outing last night.....I had him earlier but dropped him now someone else got him....Kid is pretty solid even for the Giants.
6/3/2008 12:09:43 PM
i made a trade in my league where i get cordero and carlos lee and a SP for e.volquez, mike jacobs, aaron laffey and brett myers.i hope lee turns it around bc im giving up a lot for basically him and a closer for a bad team.
6/3/2008 6:33:40 PM
wandy rodriguez with 5.2 great innings and now he has the bases loaded...hopefully he can get out of this jam, but it looks like he's back in form.and he gets out of the inning. wandy is probably going to be another great free agent pick up for me...lee, volquez and wandy for free. [Edited on June 3, 2008 at 8:56 PM. Reason : /]
6/3/2008 8:55:17 PM
good outing for Wandy tonight in Pittsburgh but I'd still be wary of playing him on the road
6/3/2008 9:26:00 PM
Hamilton with another HR tonight At this pace, I don't know if I want to trade him for anyone not named Arod or Pujols
6/3/2008 9:40:27 PM
any thought on my trade, it's still pending with the league. i feel like im giving up a lot on the hope that lee starts killing the ball
6/3/2008 10:11:22 PM
You're giving up a lot of starting pitching for an elite OF and a closer. As long as you're deep in starting pitching, I think you have the better end of the deal.
6/3/2008 10:20:03 PM
That was my take on itMyers and Laffey are borderline roster worthy, so those 2 for Maine is kind of a washIt comes down to Jacobs and Volquez for Lee and CorderoRanking those 4 players, Lee is easily first and Jacobs is easily lastVolquez is worth more than Cordero at this point but its closeLee>>>>>>>>Volquez>>Cordero>>>>>>>>>>Jacobs is how I see itNot highway robbery by any means, but definitely a coup on your part
6/3/2008 10:37:30 PM
you do know jacobs is on pace for 36 HR's right
6/3/2008 11:49:10 PM
And a .250avg/.290obpHe is a one trick pony. Plus he has never been able to stay healthy for a full year and is a major injury risk...[Edited on June 3, 2008 at 11:51 PM. Reason : x]
6/3/2008 11:51:25 PM
true, he'll be all HRs and RBIs, but 36 HRs and 115RBIs is pretty decent if he stays healthyand honestly id see it like lee=volquez>>>>>>>>>>>cordero>jacobs at this pointI mean volquez has made like 12 starts, so i dont think you can classify him as a fluke. He's definitely not going to keep pace, but even if he doesnt, he's still likely to end up a top 10 starting pitcher.[Edited on June 3, 2008 at 11:57 PM. Reason : .]
6/3/2008 11:53:44 PM
oh look, bedard made another shitty start
6/4/2008 12:01:32 AM
Here is a question. I desperately need pitching in a Roto 5x5 NL Only league. I'll post my roster:C Chris Snyder1B Garret Atinks2B Mark DeRosa3B Kevin KouzmanoffSS Stephen DrewOF Ryan BraunOF Carlos BeltranOF Jay BruceUTIL Conor JacksonBN Aaron RowandBN Blake DeWittDL Josh WillinghamSP Matt CainSP Tim HudsonRP Jose ValverdeRP Brian WilsonP Ryan FranklinP Clayton KershawP Roy OswaltBN Jon SanchezBN Max ScherzerVolquez is available. I'd have to give up Jay Bruce and one of either CoJack/Rowand/Willingham (hammer is iffy if the deal would be accepted). Given my team and the struggles of Cain and Oswalt do you think this is a good proposal?I'm currently in 3rd but that is on the back of my offense. I'm in the top 3 in HR, RBI, Avg, and Runs... I'm only in the Top 5 in pitching in W and SV...
6/4/2008 12:03:00 AM
You've been including Jacobs in every trade offer you've made in the last month, so obviously you don't see him keeping up the pace he's on power-wiseJacobs has better stats than Lee at this pointVolquez has better stats than SantanaYou can't use a two month sample size over several years of statistics to say one player is better than anotherThe only significant piece you're losing in Volquez...he's losing two valuable piece's, one of which is significantly better than anything he's getting back.I'd say take Cordero out on his part, or sub Dunn, Quentin or Crawford for Jacobs on your part to make it more balancedIts going to go through if you want it to because you have the final sayJust realize its not seen as fair by everyone involved[Edited on June 4, 2008 at 12:14 AM. Reason : x]
6/4/2008 12:12:41 AM
i would trade bruce and jackson for volquez for sureactually i wait to see how everyone votes ^ ive been offering jacobs bc i need to exchange a low BA player as i have too many (with pena and dunn) and id rather trade jacobs as he is the more unproven of the 3. I totally agree you cant take just 2 months and project it across, but at some point you have to start buying into the idea that these people are likely going to be pretty damn good throughout the year. i mean already we see jay bruce and a mediocre pitcher getting traded for carl crawford for christsakes (as noted in the yahoo writer's league)[Edited on June 4, 2008 at 12:16 AM. Reason : .]
6/4/2008 12:12:42 AM
also the trade would be fucking ridiculous for me if i added dunn or crawford or quentinid be giving up the current best fantasy pitcher, a top 10 OF and 2 pitchers for carlos lee and a closer that has as many saves as eric gagne. wtfive already had to give up way too much in a trade just to quell the league's paranoia of the commish making unfair tradesi'll talk to the other owner at work tomorrow and see if he'll take cj wilson instead of one of my sp's that he asked for to appease you, but so you know we have 3 yes's and 1 no so far[Edited on June 4, 2008 at 12:27 AM. Reason : .]
6/4/2008 12:18:42 AM
Don't appease meIf I'm the only 'no' vote than by all means go through with itIf the majority thinks its fair it should passJust don't say you think you might be giving up too much...thats definitely not the case[Edited on June 4, 2008 at 12:54 AM. Reason : and IMO CJ wilson is more valuable than Meyers or Laffey...30 closers, 150 SPs]
6/4/2008 12:48:52 AM
i actually offered him wilson first but he wanted laffeyi mean other than the 2 owners involved, who would obv vote yes, it is 1 vote yes and your vote noso we'll wait till we get enough votes
6/4/2008 1:18:54 AM
sounds fair to mebut if you're doing it based on votes, seems like only the votes of those not involved should count...for the same reasons members of the defense and prosecution aren't part of the jury
6/4/2008 1:41:20 AM
6/4/2008 2:08:39 AM
6/4/2008 2:21:47 AM
6/4/2008 6:48:24 AM
6/4/2008 9:22:02 AM
i didnt say hand him the cy young, but you have to start taking his numbers seriouslyif you look closer at his whip, you'll notice that it is his walks, not hits allowed that inflate that number and also he is a ground ball pitcher, which is why he can sometimes get away with walking 3-4 batters a game
6/4/2008 9:50:51 AM
6/4/2008 10:02:57 AM
btw if you're in my tww league and you havent voted on the trade, please do. you can do it here if you likeso far we have 3 yes's(not including the 2 involved in the trade) and 1 no.
6/4/2008 10:41:42 AM

6/4/2008 11:41:45 AM
i already have 8 HR's this week, thanks today to Corey Hart's inside the parkerand I'm glad I picked up Justin Duscherer ("duke-sher") of Oakland...so far, 4.2 IP, 0.00 ERA, 0.43 WHIP
6/4/2008 4:31:21 PM
the players i gave him looked pretty damn good tonight
6/5/2008 1:54:19 AM
