It seems to me that there have been a lot more early commits from this class than there were with others. Here's the rundown of DI commits from North Carolina kids up to this date (6/21).2009 222008 102007 132006 92005 10 2004 72003 82002 4Again, the earlier years were a little lacking in composite data, but the spike in commits is more than double of most years and will probably go up even more once all the camps have concluded. I hope this doesn't turn into a basketball type affair where 9th graders commit super early.

http://blogs.indystar.com/preps/archives/2008/06/carmel_lineman.htmlCarmel lineman considering Minnesota, N.C. StateIt's down to two schools for Carmel High School offensive tackle Brooks Michel: Minnesota and North Carolina State. The 6-7, 285-pounder, a three-star recruit ranked 55th at his position among rising seniors by scout.com, visited both campuses the second week in June. After attending a camp at Iowa, the Michels drove to Minnesota and then flew from Minnesota to N.C. State for unofficial visits, spending about two days at each school. So what did Michel like best about each program? The coaching staffs. N.C. State coach Tom O'Brien is entering his second season, as is Minnesota's Tim Brewster."I know at North Carolina State, the coaching staff can't get much better," Michel, 17, said. "And Minnesota, they're all great guys and they have great facilities and a brand new stadium going in, which is cool."Michel said he will choose the place that makes him feel the most comfortable with the people he's going to be around for the next 4-5 years."I've got to feel comfortable with the coaches, and know they're going to be recruiting the kind of guys I'll be able to make friends with easily," he said.Signing day isn't until Feb. 4, 2009, but Michel is hoping to make a decision before football season so he can focus on high school ball. The Greyhounds are the defending Class 5A state champs.Michel was an Associated Press Class 5A All-State honorable mention selection last season.
6/21/2008 10:19:51 PM
It sounds like the only thing Minnesota has on us is a new stadium (assuming of course that our team has 'great guys' too) , but our stadium will hold more fans. It'd be nice to go ahead and lock down some big boys on the Oline.[Edited on June 21, 2008 at 10:43 PM. Reason : sorry, great instead of good]
6/21/2008 10:43:12 PM
maybe our guys are only good, while theirs are great?

Minnesota's new TCF Bank Stadium. It's supposed to take architectural designs from Minnesota's original Memorial Stadium. Capacity will be 50,200, and can support future expansion to seat up to 80,000. It will have great views of downtown Minneapolis from most of the seats.Discovery Channel breakdown of how it will be the most environmentally friendly stadium in the country.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zggKmRvqM0A

I love the colored bleachers on the new Minnesota stadium sketches. I wish we had those or at least had a section of the student body with t-shirts that made a logo (a la Penn State)
6/23/2008 9:30:15 AM
Well the reason why PSU is able to do that is b/c that little section of students is an organization, mainly made up of seniors, made to carry on the tradition of making out their big block S logo. They've been doing it for many years. I'm sure the SWPC could organize a way to make out our distinictive block S logo with the N and C in it.

^^^ Josh Hunter has a pretty nice offer list. He's a 3* prospect on Rivals and rated the #57 cornerback nationally. He'd be a nice pickup based on his measureables and offer list. I haven't checked out his highlight vid yet.Schools Interested (known offers in italics)DukeEast Carolina Miami (Fl) North Carolina State South Carolina Virginia TechWake ForestClemsonFlorida StateVirginiaWest VirginiaMarshallGenerally I want to see us land prospects that are in the Top 50 at their position. We did a pretty good job about doing that last year, and the ones not ranked around the Top 50 at their position are still good athletes that fall into that sleeper category. Some just need some good coaching like Graham. Had he not had 4 different QBs and coaches in high school, then I think he could have easily been rated a lot higher. TE Arthur Fontaine is visiting today. He visited UGA last weekend and really liked it. We need a good TE like him and also because he was a former BC commit.
6/24/2008 10:18:28 AM
Reel em' in Tom!If I were the coaches I would tell him about the opportunity he'd have to play with Glennon who would love throwing to him. Also I would show him how former QB Marcus Stone was able to flourish as a TE in their offense and now has an opportunity to join the Chicago Bears. I'd also mention how we lack depth at TE, and how we'll be using some two TE sets in the future, so there is plenty of opportunity for him to see the field. Then take him on campus and have him meet a nice co-ed that has a sun dress on and has a cute Southern accent. Then tell him there are more of those just like her here and the girls here in NC have more opportunity throughout the year to be scantily clad than the girls up in Boston. i'm pretty sure he saw the co-eds at UGA too. no offense, but we have nothing on their concentration of hot ladies. but that's just one part of the puzzle. he'll choose us because TOB will have him believing in the resurrection of our program.i'm ready to hear some good camp news. session II starts today.
6/24/2008 11:27:25 AM
^Agreed. Hopefully he'll have him drinking the same Kool Aid that most of us Pack fans are (myself included).
6/24/2008 12:20:10 PM
^^ agreed, not knocking our ladies, but I had the opportunity to be there during sorority rush or whatever when they were looking their best, I was sitting about halfway between the entrance to Sanford, and where the girls were coming out of the student center in sundresses, and when i looked back and forth between the two, I came a little.

it'll be interesting to see who gets the QB and punter offers after camp. hopefully we'll know soon.
6/26/2008 4:19:23 PM
Damonte Terry maybe a guy that we could pick up. He's from Terrell Manning's school in Laurinburg. I heard he was very impressive in camp and the coaches really liked him. He's a playmaker and could be put at either RB or S.Terry has an offer from ECU right now and might get one from both UNC and State in the upcoming weeks after impressing at both schools camps. He also camped at USC (Gamecocks not Trojans). He will be visiting Maryland and VT sometime in the future. You can see a highlight video on his Rivals page. He looks like he has a pretty good mix of vision, strength, speed, and size. He's not a guy like Toney Baker that can both run guys over and has great speed to boot. Terry though does react quickly, gets to the open part of the field quickly, can stop on a dime and change directions, and is adequate at shedding tacklers coming at him from the side.http://ncstate.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?pr_key=63953&sport=1[Edited on June 26, 2008 at 5:43 PM.
